Thread: Pub 21 means Master CH = newbie!
You just can teach them special abilities, which will make them stronger...

Yes they can lean specials.
But veteran MCH's will have to xp up the pets through the new system. What he an I have issue with is our datapad petd need to be ground up. Pets must gain xp in order to have the slots opened to get the specials trained to them
Personally based on the numbers I will have to grind more than 5.7 mil pet xp to have the slots opened up on all my pets.
No one has issue with the fact that we will have to get these abilities via new tames and partially xping them up. The issue at had is we have a datapad full of pets that we have to grind to open up slots for the new abilities.
In effect what they did was hand the veterans a huge grind to undertake.
Thats a real slap in the face with the lack of dev attention and nerfs we have put up with. When they nerf mobs thay are real quick to grandfather in nerfsto ourpets. But when something good comes we are grandfathered a grind to use the new system on our existing pet collection
if you regularly use your petsin combatnow then there will be no change when publish 21 comes. it wont be grinding,it'll be business as usual.
if you dont regularly use your pets in combat then you dont have to worry about leveling them up as you dont use them now, so what difference does their level make?

Let's see, what is hard to understand? The twenty or so pets I now have will nave NO inate abilities of their own, like new pets. My existing pets will have NO XP even tho' I have been using them forever, I will have to delete a few of myexistingpets just so I can tame and learn NEW special abilities even tho' most of my old pets at one time HAD special abilities that were taken away (ah, those gaping spider hunters with poison WERE nice) ... yep, guess I just do not understand
I do understand that after pub 21, I will no longer be a Master CH but just a newbie workin' his way back to Master CH!

Agreed. What Thrakkar and others who whine about our whineing fail to comprehend is that we want our pets useful again. We don't want or expect a Jedi grind to get them there. Our pets used to be strong and or have specials. We would like the system to remember that many of us (maybe even those who complain about our complaints) are MASTERs of the profession because we did it the old fasioned way and used our pets in combat. All the way up. No respec. Now we are being told that we get to do a different quest (grind) to get our pet specials back. But as a bone we get to choose which pets get which specials. Just for fun let's take away all special abilities from say Jedi lightsabre or Rifle or maybe the investigation tree for BH and let them (re)learn those abilities again.

This post nails it. Without this new "upgrade" pets have no specials at all. If you actually use the pets in your datapad the pets become better, not worse. This upgrade is actually a good thing.
The underlying tone of this post nails it as well, even if it was unintentional. If you use your pets in combat, after publish 21 it will still be business as usual. What does this mean? It means the pet AI is still broken. Your pet will have the ability to learn new commands but you still must spam commands 3 or 4 times. Your pet is still a giant aggro creator and you're still the aggro magnet. Pets are still single minded killing machines that won't follow commands when told to attack a target. And, groups are still not going to want a CH to join them because of the broken AI and the fact that pets take up group slots.
Business as usual.
