Give Ko input he is trying to fix this for us
Lets make it so he only has to look at one thread for input on this issue. you can also look at his suggestions
I've been a CH for almost two years now. I guess I'm exaclty what the Devs want. I'm just happy for a change. You starve a man for months and months then you feed him, then hethanks you.
I'm just so excited for my long lost BattleHardenedGSP's to be usefull again. I remember so many hard fights with them and I want us to mean something again. havea role, regardless of having to work for it.
I'm seriously just happy that the Devs are concentrating on us again. Good or Bad.

For me not a big deal. Plus some people are blowing this stuff way out of proportion.
1. Do not lie you guys know you only use a third of your collection for actual battle. At best most CHs have two high powered 70s and a trio. Beyond that the rest are just collectables. So stop pretending you need every single pet you got to be viable. No combat level 80 uses all their weapons or skills. No CH uses every single pet in the datapad. Period your buffing the numbers to make it sound bad.
2. XP is not all that hard to get. I just did three boxes in CM in under 3 hours doing group missions on dantooine, and my pets were drawing 3k xp per kill. When a nest drops 20 critters atleast you do the math 60k a mission. 4 to 5 missions in an hour and you got 240k to 300k of ch xp. Oh my god thats going to take you a week whatever will you do.
3. Stop being lazy there is alot of damn near mandatory grinding in this game. Remember the geo cave fort tusken krayt hunting. All damn near mandatory to be the best that you can be. This is no different. You just want them to pump all the moves into your pets so you do not have to work at it.
4. We wanted a fix argument once again is total unadulterated nonsense. The moves never worked properly part of why players would just bypass pets. You cannot lose what you never had. I for one maybe got my pet to use those specials once in a while. The old system was a poor system plain and simple not very immersive and very one dimensional we aint loseing squat.
5. This is what it boils down to your going to spend a week maybe two leveling up pets and finding inate abilities, and whether you like that or not its content. Its something to do other then whatever non thing your doing now. The pets will stay the same but now they will get a huge range of trainable attacks, and we may actually be able to use multiple pets to do multiple specials how could that be a bad thing?

(4) Yes, they didn't work properly ... fixing that was what we wanted, how hard is that to understand. When it *did* work, it worked well -- you could combine specials with 2 pets out and get good dizzy/kd, poison/disease combos. It just never worked for long because of poor quality control. Who could possibly expect an entirely new system with the same quality control standards to be an improvement? We'll be back to Square One or worse. That is *not* what people waited over a year for when they promised to fix us 'in the combat balance'.
(5) Multiple pets with multiple specials? What a great idea! Oh, they already had that, broke it, and left it buggy for a year. Time to rinse & repeat? What possible motivation would a customer have to suffer through it again instead of getting slow, constant improvement? Bait & switch, pure & simple.

The Jedi forum you have been reading!

I don't understand why when a profession gets something new, everyone complains. I was a smuggler for a while and dropped that because of no content, I have since went to master ranger (plan on keeping this for a while) and am working my way back to master creature handler because these changes look promising to me and that is what I really enjoy doing. If you guys don't like the changes, tell the devs to forget about your changes and send them over to the rangers. We have been waiting a long time for some love and do not see it anywhere on the horizon. I say quit complaining and just have FUN.

Personally, I don't recall reading a single post that said the new abilities system should not beimplemented. Most of the "complaints" are regarding long time MCH's and their existing pets. There are posts regarding the old specials system and that we were told the old system was being worked on and will be fixed. Those posts are not false. We were indeed told those things. I believe people have a right to complain about being mislead. As a smuggler, you should be very used to being lied to. Maybe you've become desensitized to lies and misrepresentations. ![]()
Most master creature handlers have been playing the profession for a long time. Do they not deserve some credit for the time spent? Do the pets they own warrant becoming nothing more than a chassis that must be built upon by taming new animals? Some say yes, some say no.Everyone has an opinion regarding their animals. Everyone has a right to speak their piece, as you do. If you find the comments resembling complaints that's your perspective. Regardless, it doesn't devalue any of the comments that are made. They are constructive, even if we all don't agree with them.
How would you have liked it if someone told you to stop complaining about smuggler and just play the profession and have fun doing it? It's all about perspective. Everyone gets their say. I wouldn't have it any other way. ![]()

Lets put this in perspective shall we.
Old system the pet only got two specials and if lucky a ranged attack. A ranged attack mind you that suffered from the same buggy nature of all spitting critters. These attacks were generic carbon copies of other professions attacks. Plague strike knockdowns. Now you had to go out and either tame a pet that had two specials, or buy a pet with two specials. Lets ignore the fact that alot of pets had only 1 special no special or had non complimentary specials.
Old system the CH had limited passive creature benefits. You couldnt make your creature less powerful but more healthful. Nor could you tweek the creature at one moment to behave more like a tank or more like a weapon. Meanwhile other combat professions could get armor slices weapons slices powerups psgs clothing attachments food buffs dancer buffs spice buffs doctor buffs. The total sum of pet customization was buying a pet you liked. No after market modification except what enbolden might do for you.
Old system promoted buying ones way in. Over working ones way in. If you had 10 million credits to blow you could be the best CH on your server find the best buy the best. Have the meat tank and eat it too.
Old system elites. Unlike other professions who could grind or use skill to make themselves better. We were reduced to camping spawn points. Then prey for a lucky spawn of some elite pet to call our own. Ridiculously wasteful of play time. Others got to work to build their template we had to sit and pray. Lets ignore the fact that pets were generic you had to get a gps or a bull rancor. Lets ignore the fact that any CH with these pets dared to not use them in action for fear of vit loss.
New system we get eight slots. So even if you go to L3 on two skills if you have to have L1 and L2 I am not sure if thats the case you still only use 8 and that leaves room for a third special attack L2 or a couple innate abilities like defensive boost of health boost, or if your really twisted 8 different special attacks on one pet. Ergo no need to switch up to deliver a specific state.
New system you can build up your pets passive attributes unlike in the old system. If you want to make a pet a full out tank go for it. If you want it to be a full on weapon go for it.
New system there is no buy in. You have to actually take the time to train each and every pet, and you will need to be skilled to judge where each skill is best used. If you want to use a triplet perhaps defense and high health is the way to go so that the pets last longer, and can deliver multiple state attacks, or you will want to use a specific pet as a pull to help in group healing. In other words you will need to know what your doing instead of knowing the old trifecta attack follow and heal it often.
New system instead of camping a spot for weeks on end or haveing to get a standard its the best pet. The CH can actually go out and work on improvement instead of sit and pray theatrics. In other words if you put in 7 hours work you will get 7 hours payout. Instead of 0 or 100 percent. You can now have a cool looking creature instead of a rare one that looks good and is never used.
I smell BEs at work in this thread not real CHs. Who else would be against us getting 8 special move slots. A boatload of inate abilities, and the ability to actually tame and use more exotic creatures. Who else would be against multiple pets actually being useful. Well the guy that has you by the choke chain. The dumb this is that none of this removes good BE pets as being worth buying. Infact it only helps. If CH is more fun and more skill based then more people will play CH.

QFE +emphasis on thecustomization of pets. now its not a matter of whose got 3 female narglatches and who doesnt, its a matter of whose gone out, gotten the abilities they want, put them together tactically and creatively for the pet combo you want.
this may not be the system you dreamt up, but if you want the game to be your way sign up for a position at SOE ![]()

Most of us are not unhappy with the new system, at least from a long-term perspective. For a new Handler, this system is wonderful as they will naturally learn specials as they level. From the standpoint of versatility, it is better.
However, for some of us, this is a step backwards, at least initially. We have to re-level everything. Some of us already had perfectly working and carefully selected combinations of specials. I had no trouble using those specials under the old system.
Now my pets and I will have no specials. My pets are better off replaced by a new tame with the 'free' special. Pets that make me feel sad about even considering replacing them.
To some of us pets are more than just a disposable weapon and we are asking for recognition of that. That is why some of us are unhappy.
