Thread: New Bio-Engineered Creature Types?

As a CH/BE, one of the things that concerns me from time to time is the issue of clones, specifically, the diversity of clones. What skins would you all like to see become clonable? My first thought was the giant crystal snake. While the GCS is tameable, it's not especially well-suited for PvE activities because creature AI doesn't take into account the GCS's unique coloration.

PvP is a different story. In a busy city environment, for example, it's pretty easy to sneak a GCS up to an enemy and inject some poison before they know what hit them. Difficult for them to target the creature as well. If A BE version were available, it would be one step (in a very long journey) towards making CH a viable combat profession in PvP.

Thoughts? Other suggestions?

Spazzer,

Then when I say we do not want new skins until bugs are fixed (most of us anyway) I hope you will understand.See the fixed bugs over new content poll or hey we are getting two new mounts poll. It is not that we do not care but I would hope it were the last thing we see before fixes. We have no niche. I imagine the combat revamp will take away the last advantage we have as a solo class. IE, siccing pets on lairs to spawn every single mob and using fanshot to bring down everything fast. We are not wanted in groups if we use large pets. It seems some people would rather ruin our gameplay than figure out how to use the TAB key to cycle targets. Unless we do get and keep the non-CH market we have none. Mounts are nota viable means of transportation. We rely directly on you for all of our needs while you do not require anyone's assistance for anything. As I was told most BE are CH so they also can train mounts. I am happy for that part at least because there is nothing more annoying than being asked at the starport and missing shuttles because someone asks you to train every command and it takes them 20 minutes to think up a name.

Like I stated it is the right question just the wrong place wrong time. You have all the control of our pet destiny right now. We would like something in return. A niche. From what I gather the process is fun. My BE-hopeful still has to do Organic Chem. Then I too may get to see the fun in the process. Unfortunately if the BE are unwilling to share some fun and the melee class is unwilling to share some tanking role then the CH is a dying class. Seriously, I have never asked a credit for one pet. I have accepted donations when given. But the capturing of pets and giving them away brought a certain joy because I felt as though I were helping someone. Help I could not otherwise give because I wish to remain a soloist (with the exception of 3-4 friends I group with). As it stands now BE do have all the fun but are throwing out a faulty product. I think personally that would bother me andI would be much more willing to lose some fun to have a niche. Right now the only reason to tame is to ultimately destroy the product. You will find that to be true with the BE class soon enough. It is the fun part of both and I grant you that, but what use is the fun if it does not contribute to anything at all?

I really do not mean for this to sound callous or harsh but I whole heartedly believe this to be one centralized issue that both communities need to come to some agreement over. The deed should never appear in the BE inventory or hopper if it is invalid. Now you have a few people that are left blinking as to why they have invalid pets. The BE can no more explain the process than Devs can. I have offered a player solution. If it does not fly I am onlyout 2 hours of writing. If the BE Validity checks go unsolved in the long run the BE suffer more than CH because we can still tame wild.

So again, I say ask this question after the BE process is fixed. CH can tame all wilds. Other bugs are fixed. I will more than support the question at the proper time. Personally if you want an answer there is no new pet for me. I am a Graul fan. The better question would be a BE shrink stim that freezes babies to baby-sized versions. A man sized Graul is much more interesting to me than a new skin.

Pluto,

I understand you views and I agree with most of it in theory. You're not beingharsh or callous but you are a little jaded which in retrospect is understandable.

I don't agree that mounts are not a viable option to a speeder. That speeder can't protect you from a rancor. Its funny that you say creature handlers rely on bio-engineers for everything and we need no one's assistance. Bio-engineers say the same exact thing about creature handlers. Our products are worthless with out a creature handler. We didn't take creature handler to train mount initially. We took it because the creature handlers hated training our animals.

I've read a number of posts regarding groups and the melee classes view of creature handler. I can say I've never had issues grouping with people. I very often get asked to group. But, I don't use giant pets. They aren't necessary. A CL70 eopie or gurrect does exactly the same damage a CL70 kimo does. I made a CL50 gnort for a customer with armor, strong poison, and strong disease. It would definitely kill me. Of course those are bio-engineered animals. I have a green CL46 armored cu pa that I ride around Endor all the time. I'm followed closely by a CL20razor cat. Again, mounts are very viable modes of transport.

I view creature handler differently than a lot of people. I see it as a support class instead of a combat class. I use creature handler to help me obtain theDNA and bio-resouces I need for bio-engineering. I have a RL friend thatis also a master CHand DE. He uses his animals to help him harvest bio-resources to sell on the market (meat is insanely valuable). He uses that money to buy the items he needs to make droids and he still makes a profit. Its a very creative combo.I have no combat skills because of the skill point cap and the type of role play I do. Without my animals I'm blue road kill. My animals may not do 1300 damage like a TKA but with two pets hitting at 400 each I'm not to far off that mark especially if you add a DoT special. I have a blast using my animals which is why I mastered the profession instead of just getting the "train mount" command. By the way, mounts created more CH dabblers than the grauls did. Those dabblers are bio-engineers.

I can't agree more about the risk involved with purchasing a BE animal right now. This is the main reason your revamp was not received with the enthusiasm you hoped for. I'd offer to you the same reasoning you've given here. Its a good idea at the wrong time. Bio-engineers have a system that is a lot of fun. We just want it to work correctly. If the system worked there would be no need for a pet check in the first place. There aren't enough bio-engineers to make a loud noise and our correspondent is MIA. Because creature handlers are our first and best customer I can only plead for your support in helping us get the crafting system fixed. Its in your interest as much as it is ours.

Spazzer, unfortunately you have painted a far worse scenario than I ever believed possible. You are a CH to tame only. That instance I supposed it is a support class. Your DE friend is on CH for guard features, or to better help him run away from fights. I view neither of you in that light as true CH. You are using one feature to assist your other class. CH is support in that light. There are others mainly the ones that do fight that feel CH should be just as good as being a melee/weaponeer. Since DE reference us often and taking your perspective into account combat droids should never be created. The should merely offer support droids as they are now. And CH should just be done away with and everyone us level 10 non-CH pets. It fixes alot of things. Then we do not need a Validity check because everything can be the 400 check format because those of us who need uber pets will not be there. It is unfortunate that the state of the game has reduced your only customers to nothing more than support and thats coming from BE's themselves. It is like being told your a second class citizen by people holding you in a captive market.

But if we are support classes our experience should not come from combat, but some other trail much like Doctor's. It should be fair easier to be a support class. We have no market like smuggler. The other supports like Ranger and Squad Leader are just as useless. We had a sense of purpose. You in the long run are hurting that sense of purpose more be furthering the misconception that we ought not have one. Yeah. I am jaded. Very jaded.

But you are right I can see exactly where this is coming from, you wish to keep all the fun and all the economy. It is for that reason alone that BE do not sign on to some slicing role rather than what is currently there. I know nothing about the clone process itself. I imagine the sampling process is just as fearful as taming. That is the aspect we want back. A reason to tame. Other than bragging rights to a 100K:1 odds of finding a rare pet. I am glad you like smaller pets. I am glad you have a CL46 cupa. The likelihood of CH's remaining in the game and not being BE at the same time is becoming slimmer and slimmer. When the majority of CH's as fighters are gone then you will wonder where indeed that market is and you will wonder how to get it back. So I again still challenge any BE to come up with a better process of cloning and creating pets that can involve CH and have a uniform standarization.

I'm a MCH so I get to use what I make.

I'd like to see birds, especially !PHARPLES! put into the game, then snakes, and then some ability to control the size of the pet so I can make giant rabbits and tiny grauls.

I kind of agree this is more of a BE issue than a CH issue.

Seriously, until the clone process is fixed and I can trust the BE process to be what it is and pass validity checks this is a meaningless question. We want fixes over new content. What you should be asking in the CH forum is support for some new proposal on fixing the clone process. I have made mine to the BE but they seem uncaring and have shrugged it off. So I ask you as a BE to come up with some plan that makes your pet somewhat better than wild and standardized so I know it will pass a Validity check. I do not mean to sound harsh but new skins are not wanted until we know any skin can be tamed and we have little issues with the purchasing. It is the right question just the wrong time and place to ask it. There are too many hot issues on the table that need fixed.

It's over there, but honestly, the CHs are the end users here. BEs can't use anything they build (unless it's sub 10), so it makes sense to me to ask the client what the client wants instead of trying to drive something through the BE channel that ends up not helping CHs much. My opinion, anyway.

Now now. The bio-engineers are notuncaring. In fact we care deeply about the clone system. Remember, it was the bio-engineers that asked to have the freakCL10 animals with 10K HAM fixed. We aren't asking for a new system. We want the system to work correctly that's all. Simply put, the clone system we have is a lot of fun. We don't want that taken away. We just want it to work properly.

I would also agree that this thread does indeed belong in the creature handler forum. Creature handlers make up a large part of a bio-engineers sales. I makes perfect sense to ask your customer what they would like to see in the future. Hey, maybe someone should tell that to SOE
