Thread: Why are you dropping CH?

Just curious to read all the threads that have recently been appearing since the last publish. It sounds like a number of people are dropping CH because of either long standing bugs, or new ones introduced by this patch.

But the big question is: What's the point of dropping CH? I guess you're dropping it to go and focus on some other profession.Aren't they all broken? Some to a larger degree than others, but they all have problems.

If you're completely giving up SWG in protest of your broken profession, then I can understand. But I'm just confused by people dropping one broken profession for another.

You'll see from my sig that I was a DE. I deleted that char and re-rolled as I wasn't happy with the race I picked. After that, the grind for DE was too much (and if you want to talk about broken professions, talk to the DEs), so I tried CH instead. So far I'm only a beginner (0/1/0/0), but I haven't across most of the problems you guys seem to be having. The only one I've had is where the pet stands right on top of me.

So come on, I think you should confess. Which mythical non-broken profession are you taking up instead of CH?

JustG, 25 Nov 03: "I will tell you this, Droids (and DE's) are going to be the MAIN feature for the January publish. We will be fixing alot of things and adding combat droids.Yes, talk is cheap."
JustG, 04 Feb 04: "Lucas and SOE agreed that Publish 6 would be focussed on the Imperial Crackdown. Droids are not the MAIN focus. We plan on implementing combat droids in P7, and Utility Droids in P8."

I am not dropping CH, I still love it.

But I do know some people who are, and it is because they want to get more into PvP, and none of the top PvP templates include CH.

I think I can answer your question.

I've been a CH for 5 months. CH has gone from uber to unplayable in a 7 month period. Lets face it, CH is only usefull for pretty pets and a meatshield. Well, after the last patch the meatshield can not be used due to running. What is the point to CH now, Tame people's pets and look cool with a worthless Kimo beside you. Not my idea of putting my skill points to use.

If I drop CH, I can Master Smuggler/Pistoleer/Teras Kasi. Lets see, would I be better off regardless what is wrong with those professions, I think the answer is YES.

The question isn't what profession is working. The question is what profession is more broken currrently than CH, Pikeman is the only one that comes to mind. I'm strickly speaking of Combat professions mind you, Droid Eng while probably the most worthless profession in the game is not with my playstyle. I like to kill, not create hehe.

I'm not dropping CH. It took me way too long to get MCH. So I just made another character on another server and I'll play him until maybe they fix all the problems they just made with their "fixes".

Oh well, and the people that are dropping CH, it's because they aren't having fun anymore. This is a game so when a profesion stops being fun it is time to find one that is. It's kinda sad, this proffesion was the funnest I've played in this game, but the devs have kicked us so many times it just isn't fun for me anymore. I won't drop CH cause I love my pets too much. But until it gets better I'll just play other proffesions until I find one that is fun. Cause in the end that's all that matters is if your having fun.

I am not dropping anything, I am on my second month as a MCH and it's sucked ever since I had it. But it took WAY too long for me to get here. And Master Pistol as well. So I am sticking it out. Thing is, I chose CH because I was into more PVE and hunting and wanted tanks. MCH's and Master Pistol all had their time in the sun and I was late to the party each time, but in every game like this each proffession has it's time in the sun. We suck now, but the next time the pendulum swings in our favor I will be there cause I am not going anywhere.

I just made MCH. I think MCH should not be an Elite class because the profession isn't as strong as other Elite combat classes.

Yea its nice to have a pet tank but I am a master brawler plus tka student and I tank better than any pet I've tried so far.

I think they should reduce the number of SP needed to be MCH or make MCH more powerful, its not currently worth the skill points.

Or another way to look at it is that because CH is an elite class, it should be made as strong as the other Elite combat classes. It's not as strong because it got nerfed back to the stone age. I still have fun with it, though, so I'm not dropping it. (Though if they aren't going to do anything to improve CH then I do agree that the skill point requirements for MCH should certainly be re-adjusted).

Well, when you are nerffed with EVERY publish, not counting the 100's of stealth nerfs, the first thing you think when you see the downloading message is how have they screwed me with this new code?Every money making benefit of you profession is "given" to another profession, mounts given to vehicles non-ch pets to BE pets, the only way to make the cash you need to maintain your character and pets is doing boring destroy missions over and over and then they make even that next to impossible to do with everything running like crazy. You are no longer a Creature Handler. You are just a resource peddler with a useless pet. I expect the next "fix" will change it so a CH can not use a harvestor. lol I can hear it now... "Nerf CH because he charged me 4 cpu for high quality copper." lol

You are new to the profession. You probably think when you get higher in the skill tree you will be better off. When you get there you will be upset that you wasted the time getting there. You may have already noticed that you get more combat xp per kill than ch xp and people complain how long it takes to level combat xp. So, go buy a good BE pet, which will probably be nerffed a number of times on you, get a bike and enjoy yourself while you can.

Because it is a cron profession and I can do better in combat without it. No chasing my damn pets around trying to fight whatever it is running from, be it a gnort or a rancor. I have one char that has been a CH since week 2 of the games release and another that is grinding it for a cron. Having played for a while I think the CH profession is designed poorly right now and truth be told I can do just as well fighting anything on my own, without a pet. So that is why I am dropping CH.

I'm dropping CH so I can actually help my guild members do something We have TKA's, we have armor, and we have docs with buffs. We don't need pets to tank. I'm a master Rifleman. I don't need pets to tank. (Or run my targets off.) Do you know what I'm picking up instead? Musician. Why? Have you ever spent any quality time in an Entertainer group? The grind is amusing if you stay at the keyboard I used to have SO much fun leveling my CH skills with a fellow CH or with a hunting group. Pets were actually useful at that time. Lately, in both PvP and PvE, I send them into battle expecting them to die, but hoping they'll hold on long enough for me to get a free shot or two in on the target. Nobody is afraid of a rancor or gurreck anymore (regardless of the 'resists', since the damage they deal is laughable), and everybody knows that the best way to deal with a tailing pet is to kill the owner immediately. What defenses do CH's get from their profession? Absolutely none. How quickly can you take out an MCH (who doesn't get the benefit of defense stacking)? A few seconds, if even that. I'd rather be able to buff the secondaries of a friend than block their view of the enemy for a few seconds in a raid. It's a complete waste of skill points if you have any wish to help people in this game.

I love being a master ch. I will give up SWG if I decide I just can't handle the CH problems any longer.

Not a threat... I'm not there yet. Taking a break to try some pikeman... but I'll never delete my MCH box.

Account gets deleted first.

Im really having fun with CH and I'm getting close to MCH. Their are huge problems but I'm gonna overlook them for now and just play. I have a goal that will keep me busy while waiting for fixes and that is to collect all the rares in the CH line, which is will be fun and I'll have a feeling of accomplishment (even if nothing gets fixed). Off to Naboo now to search for the elusive Swamp Stalker.

Greetings,

I refuse to give up my CH skills. To tell you the truth, CH has provided me with the most fun in all the game. I don't group often with people. To tell you the truth, it usually gets on my nerves after a couple of hours. Those whose companyI mainlyenjoy are on different time schedules than I, so by the time they like to start gaming, it's bedtime for Pem.

My character iswhatI want to be. CH is my primary love and the benefits of TK allow me make the most of the CH profession as it is now. The problemI am having is due to a lack of real content. I don't want to grind anymore. Tell me, how many times can one clear out the Nightsister Dungeon before it gets boring. How many millions of credits does one need before they begin to lose their meaning? How many destroy missions does one do before numbness sets in? How many deliveries ... You get what I mean.

I cannot imagine giving up CH, just as I cannot imagine doing it with TK. However, with the bugs and apparent disdain the devs have for our class, I live from month to month with the game as my subscription renews. I wondered if this month's publish would make it any better. For me, it's made it worse. So, for me, a closed account is better than condoning SOE's behaviour by forcing myself to change to have fun. I should be able to have fun without having to give up what I enjoy.

Good Luck to All,
