Thread: Why are you dropping CH?
I'm never going to give up MCH.... it's been the ONLY profession I've wanted from the Beta days
in support of my prefered profession I've mastered Pistoleer, marksman, scout, and medic.
Right now I find the idea of fight side by side with my pets attractive and I'm climbing two trees in brawler, UA- for TK and Heavy sword, becuase I was impressed by the emperor's new gift. sword with health bleed on it is nice![]()
so some of us Die hards are keeping CH waiting for the day that all professions are settled, so we can kick but again.
Why am I dropping CH? Well, the grind has nearly driven me mad. I actually enjoy taming the pets, so there is that. But I solo 90%+ of the time(by solo I mean not grouped with other players). Here is my story. Holocron said ranger. Knocked that out in a week, so I thought: "While I'm all done with scout, why not knock out CH, especially since I have enough scout xp to pick up Novice right now". So I got Novice CH, and I was also a novice fencer at the time. So I busted out my stun baton, and took a cl15BE roba named fatsout to Dant. Things were cool, I picked up the fencer boxes fast, and I had that bottom row of CH boxes done in about 2 days of soloing. Then I noticed something. The amount of CH xp i needed grew ridiculously while it came in at a slower rate! So I finished off Fencer, then a holocron told me Swordsman. So I did that, CHing along the way. And I did brawler as well. Then I knocked out pikeman, why the hell not? Then after Mastering 3 Elite Combat Professions and Master Brawler, where was I in CH ... 3344. I am angry over this, I like to finish **edit**. My next holo said architect, which I cannot finish, as all my skill points are in CH. Leveling CH takes longer than the Florida Recount and is only half as pleasant. There are only 2 thoughts that keep me going:
1. Finish what you started. I have come too far now to turn back. If I dropped it all and the 4th holocron said CH, I would go insane.

Just curious to read all the threads that have recently been appearing since the last publish. It sounds like a number of people are dropping CH because of either long standing bugs, or new ones introduced by this patch.
But the big question is: What's the point of dropping CH? I guess you're dropping it to go and focus on some other profession.Aren't they all broken? Some to a larger degree than others, but they all have problems.
If you're completely giving up SWG in protest of your broken profession, then I can understand. But I'm just confused by people dropping one broken profession for another.
You'll see from my sig that I was a DE. I deleted that char and re-rolled as I wasn't happy with the race I picked. After that, the grind for DE was too much (and if you want to talk about broken professions, talk to the DEs), so I tried CH instead. So far I'm only a beginner (0/1/0/0), but I haven't across most of the problems you guys seem to be having. The only one I've had is where the pet stands right on top of me.
So come on, I think you should confess. Which mythical non-broken profession are you taking up instead of CH?
However I would liek to know what happens to pets I have in my datapad once my last CH box is surrendered. They wont go poof will tehy? Just owndering ebcasue I ahve FG a King Merek, screecher and various other rares and jsut plain I like em pets. I plan to come back to cH in time provided it is't turnd to a complete joke by that time.

I'm dropping CH also becasue of some big disappointments as well as to pursue other professions that have started to catch my interests.

Sadnebula:
I'm not dropping CH becsue im not uber in pve or pvp.
I do well enough. It's jsut sad that with bugs and such I can solo my missions easier, faster,a nd with less headeache then while using my pets.
As it is now I'm constanctly chasing my pets or spamming my tellpet commands for them to come back or attack becasue they runoff or the target runs off and they chase em. Or my pets autostoring in mid combat. Or my pets standing right on top of me. Or my pets stop following me or follow in front of me whiel I move or follow me at a sluggish pace and slightly offcentered. Or pets jsut standing next to you all of a sudden burst off and ran over 200m awaya nd your commands for them to come back cease to work casueing you to open yourdatapad and store them.
I've taken into account TH posts of some pets being cowards or the attack range of pet to reature. So I experimented with doing the same type of missions and cycling though every pet i m y datapad. Guess all my pets attack at the same range and must be diffent then that of Relic Reapers(while jsut a couple weeks ago msot my pets didnt run f rom these) or all my pets jsut recently becasme as TH put it "Cowards"
In PVP I like to use my pets as a distraction to give em the upper hand agaisnt my opponet. I know pets are weakin pvp for the most part. However I don't wish to keep CH jsut for pvp when I can create a better pvp template without it. I picked up CH for the pets, for PVE, and for the feel of ebing a CH/beastmaster. However that feeling is now gone thanks to the problems. So I see no reason t o keep it at this time. I'll return in the future if theose problems get take care of and no more worse problems arise.

2. The Ceremony. The Ceremony you ask, what Ceremony? After I hit Master CH, I will be organizing a player event where I offersacrificesto my Ancient Mon Calamari Squid Gods in the form of various pets as burnt offerings. I will be hiring Dancers, and of course a Commando or Two. A special fate awaits my oldest pet, fats. I havent decided what, but it shall be gruesome, and will probably involve thermal detonators of some sort. He has served me the longest, and he has been loyal yet consistently retarded. Everytime I see him in my datapad, all I can think about is how long CH is taking. Thus, he must die. My mounts shall be spared, but only because they are useful.
Heh... thermal detonators... take screenshots. ![]()
The reason I'm planning on dropping CH? Tired of the rampant nerfs. You know we're gonna get it again when the "combat balance" is finished... as soon as people start taking significant hits from pets again, the whines will start, and the nerf bat will fly up side our heads again. Tired of promised "revamps" that don't work as advertised... do you think the "special attack" commands will EVER work? Tired of the insanely long grind to MCH.
I've been a CH since I a week or two into launch. I'm not dropping it, but I am cancelling my subscription to SWG. I'll probably pick it back up in 3 months to keep my account active (because I do want to see what the space expansion will be like.)
I knew it was frustrating, but never really knew how frustrating until I decided to drop BH and pick up brawler. I looked all over he|| and creation for a decentvibro-knuck,went ahead and dropped BH and Ranger to free up skill points and started trying to XP. I had a low level pet out with me for just in case insurance, but didn't group her in case I wanted to harvest. Every time I turned around, she was gone. Sometimes she had auto-stored, other times she just decided to stop following me. Normally this wouldn't have bothered me, but it was happening constantly. I'd summon her, two minutes later she would be gone. I'd summon her and fight something (not even involving her) and run off to fight something else and she'd be back hovering over the old corpse (Spineflap Queen). Sometimes I'd forget to look for her and she'd be out of view; I wasn't keeping track of where I was going, I was just looking for things to kill so had no clue where she was.
To top it all off, I was only getting xp from 10% of my kills. 9 out of 10 kills would give me no xp. I wouldn't see any notification on the screen, I wouldn't see any in the logs, and when I checked the skill, there was no additional xp in the skill box. I tried logging out, I tried rebooting, I tried taking a shuttle. Nothing helped.
What with the 30second nerf bearing down on us, the fact that I had given up several skills that I had become very very comfortable with and liked quite a lot so I could do something different and try to have some fun working some skills up, the incessant pet bugs, and the waste of my time (xp bug) was too much for me. I said my goodbyes, and logged off for the next 3 months. Maybe CH will be fixed by then, maybe the space expansion will be out and there will be neat things for me to do, maybe pigs will sprout wings and swim like penguins. Regardless, I'll be back in game in June, though I'll still hang out in the forums until march when my subscription ends.
I'm currently playing as a TKA. It's great fun, there's something satisfying about beating the snot out of some poor critter with your bare hands. I've got exactly enough SP spare to master TKA (1.2mil unarmed exp to go!)
However, my little side project of Medic is slowly advancing. I'm still keen to try out Commando, Carbineer, Swordsman, and Fencer, and to go back to Musician or Dancer. I'll want to see what life as a Bio-Engineer is like, or with the recent patches, as a Chef.
With so many professions getting love, and this profession being referred to as 'poke-*' by the person representing us to the dev team, what's the point in keeping it? I only call my pets now to boost missions to spawn the lairs to tame other pets ... huh.
