What is happening to CH?

It is being removed from the game completely.

What will happen to my old pets?

Your old pets will remain in your datapad however only the ones CL 10 and under will be call-able. It is unknown how the stats will be affected.

When will I be able to test these changes?

The changes go to TC FridayNovember 4th.

Joker you should add known bugs to the thread.

Tellpet only works with commands longer than 3 letters in length

Why does my pet disapear sometimes?
This is a known issue, it is theorised that they warp to 0,0 on the planet you are on but no one has been able to prove it. Because the occurance of this bug is random it is hard to fix and has existed since the games release.

Why do my pets seem to run away?
They are trying to get to the Optimum strikeing range for their creature type. When the creature they are fighting moves closer they have to keep moveing to obtain this range. It gives the appearance of your pet running.

What is a pre-nerf pet?
This is a misnomer. Some people seem to think that because they tamed pets before the creature rebalance of Dec 2003 that the pets will have the stats from prior to this. This is false, all pets were balanced so no legacy pets would exist

What is a CL 0(1) pet?
These are pets that are the result of a bug durring the first part of the revamp of the Bio-engineer profession. They were able to create pets with a CL of 1. They exist in various forms and HAMs. It is debatable whether they are an exploit or not and may be removed from game eventually.

It seems to depend on the CSR you run into if your CL 1 uberpets get taken away or not. I recently spotted three of these abominations on Ahazi, and was told flat out by a CSR that they were NOT exploit pets, contrary to everything I've heard before about them, and all common sense, for that matter.

umm vert and loker this is informative but as pre nerf pet they do exist such as those withfrenzied grauls as you know vert noones tamed one since the ch nerf. and i have a normal rancor that has previous stats and is better than the ones you can tame now withthe exeption of a bull rancor but these pre nerf pet are rare to come by and most of us old time mch's wont give them up easly.

just forget about the time line it nolonger exits her hasn't for some time. we're in a virtual star wars universe and it our time line not the movies. so its what we make of this universe ourselves. once this is realized then you'll start having fun

With regard to "extincts" like the frenzied graul, I believe Joker is referring to when all wild animals (including current extincts) had their stats adjusted as part of what is sometimes referred to as the creature rebalance("nerf") of over a year ago. In this case "pre-nerf" would mean having unchanged stats, not unchanged availability.

With regard to really old BE deeds from before the BE revamp, I think some of those are generally considered by the community to be of questionable legitimacy in terms of stats per CL.

Gives you several good commands such as Enrage (puts your pets in a berserk state for a short time) and Embolen (gives pets a 15% boost in HAM for a short time) and the ability to train the group command.

actually you only get the trick commands to teach your pets for the mindhealing, the group command is in the management-branch.
i wouldn't really call enrage a "good command" as it hardly increases the damage, pretty ridiculous for a 4th tier skill-command if you ask me.

a lot of information about ch packed into one post, prolly a nice thing for beginners, good job.

my two cents after dabbling in CH

I use /tellpet (petname) (command less than 3 letters) ie; "/tellpet kitty a" and it works for me(and my attack command is just "a" not "kitty a") , problem is i need a macro per pet, but maybe it coudl prove useful when being able to call 2 pets at the same time.

also using a level 9 BEd pet i can get more xp in less timewhenkilling low level critters nearcities, that could be useful if you are not a combat prof (BE-Ranger), 70-90 CH xp perkill and you can oneshot many of those creatures, killing bigger mobs does give more xp per kill but unless you are a combat proffesion it will take too long.(remember if you kill creatures of half the level of your creature or less you only get 1 CH xp)

/forage is a must to heal pet wounds if you are not a medic.

anyone else agrees?

On the subject of "pre nerf" pets:

There was a time when the devs nerfed pets in the wild, but the pets on the datapad retained their stats. So you could speak of natural tames as "pre nerf" pets, because they retained the old set of stats, and creatures tamed after the nerf had the new set of stats.

The Great Nerf changed all that. All critters, be they living somwhere on Endor or on a datapad of a CH browsing the bazaar in Coronet got nerfed. Every last one of them. New stats were imposed. "Extinct" pets on datapads had their stats changed to match those of their now untamable counterparts in the wild.

This move is certainly understandable from a database point of view..simplying what has to be tracked.
