Alright, I've been a CH for several monthes now. Actually, I've been one since aroudn the beginning of February. Now, you might think "Oh, thats nice, I'm sure your master" or whatever.

I'm not. No, its not because I have gotten taught. Its because frankly...

CH is a **edit** to level.

I'm right now only 3323 in CH, and haven't leveled in awhile. Other profession wise, I've been jumping around. You may be asking "How did you get this far and now are going so slow?" Well, part of it is because I've recentyl had a friend who was hologrinding through CH, and happened to have an alt who was TKM/ Master Doc, who would literally tank for his pet against Mutant Rancors. I was like 2223 when he started, and I managed to hunt with him a few times while he leveled so I got 3323.

Now, is this right that I have to move so pitifully slow through this profession, and have it end up whenever I do finally get to the end of the road of this profession (I do enjoy what little enjoyment out of it), have it end up being wortless? Its pretty bad when I am one of the few CHs who brandish my profession, and I get tells constantly... about taming mounts. Yes, I know I can't tame mounts yet. And I have to tell this all the time. "No, not yet." In a week period a couple of weeks ago, I got like 15 Mount/ Noobs asking questions about CH (such as can a non CH use a CL 40 Kimo if he doesn't fight with it) related tells.

In my guild, I have my guildies always like saying "Poor Raw" and stuff. Several of my guildies were at one time CHs, and quit it either half way or quit after the great CH rebalance, to "Fix the profession".

Its pretty bad folks when I'm hunting with people to have people making comments (not bad comments, but more like "Its too bad man") because of my showing profession. Its pretty bad when someone is complaining about smuggler and saying "At least your not CH" gets the comments of "He's got you there" and "So true".

How will the upcomming combat rebalance affect our profession? Probabally make it worse, I bet.

Yet, I go back to the point of "Why is it that I'd need to be a Master SOMETHING to master this profession"? I'm right now a Novice Pistoleer, 0021. I mean, is there some NORMAL WAY without having to spend SEVERAL MONTHES to do the profession without having to go and master another advanced profession (namely a melee one that allows you to tank)?

Maybe I sound like an angst teen, complaining about being oppressed my some parents or something. Who am I to label myself like such? All I know is that my profession is really **edit**ing hard to level, and that I feel the need to share my fairly obvious revelation with you guys, who already know it.

As a side note, I would appreciate any tips on leveling this profession faster >< Because as I said, I'm just not doing very well folks.I am at this point unable to solo the things that actually allow you to get XP fairly fast, so bleah...

I repeat again:

CH is really freaking nerfed, and nearly everyone knows it. Too bad we can't have some sort of "Galaxy wide Protest" on my server, because nearly every CH on my server is either doing it for the grind or quits as soon as they get there, and the people who have done it/ know of its nerfdom would never support such a thing.

Its painful being a CH, especially when you enjoy what little you get from the profession enough to stay with it.

Thank you for reading my inane ramblings. Maybe you can relate with this, maybe not. Just wanted to get this off my chest a bit, my own little rant. Hey, everyone else gets one! Multiple ones! This is my own little one, so bleahhhhhh.

Hmmm...have you been to the geonosian cave? Get a good pet (at that level you should be able to handle a Gaping Spider Hunter or a Giant Angler) teach it the kill command and the come command and get to the geonosian cave. In the first room you will find a ton of people leveling. Pull out pet, target Crazed Geonosian and have pet attack. Rinse and repeat. call him back if he gets hurt and heal him.

You will get 1300 to 1800 XP per kill and you will master CH in a few nights. Then play the profession as it is untill everyone else gets nerfed or until it gets fixed.

Hope you stick with it man...

Me and Geo cave have bad experiences. Lets just leave it at that. If I were to go and do that, someone would run out of the cave being chased by an Enhanced Kwi that they can't handle, it'll go at me and kill me realllly fast before I can also run away like the chap who was already running.

It takes maybe two weeks to go from novice CH to master CH. Sounds like you're doing it thehard way.

Don't let the negative AFKophobes get you down. Play the game however you want.

Is the beta testing almost over for this game?

i don't know what the problem is....it took me a week and a half to master from novice just doing ER missions on dath.Just stay with the group and send your pet in to attack the rancor AFTER someone else has attacked it first.....let your pet hit your target ONCE, then call it back to you (the pet only needs to hit it once for full xp), continue plinking away with the rest of the group....and as stated before, rinse repeat etc....it really didn't take long at all

I think all the answers to this thread have proved you right about how hard it is to level.

Notice - no-one said "Oh yes - just get your pet to kill NNNN while you heal it..."

I only picked up CH for fun, and I'm having fun, but I'm not hyper levelling it. To be honest, I could level CH faster by not fighting, because I'm a BE. Sample all the rubbish, make crappy pets, tame them and teach them all known commands. Currently I'd get 500XP per pet - later on in the tree it'd be over 1000XP. Sure, it'd be slow, but do-able.

I have Carbineer also - that's how me and my pet fight. I made a 3K ham mount and we take turns tanking for eachother depending on how many pet stims I made that day *grins*

Without either a secondary damage profession, or a big group, it is slow to level.

Still having a lot of fun with it though.

^ exactly right. I was a pistolIV novice bio engineer and it took me over 3 months doing mainly tame andrelease. No one groups anymore and even if they do you as a CH will be the 'slow cog' waiting 15 seconds at every lair to join in.

The best suggestion I can make is if you have theskill points, master a meelee expert combat proff - only takes a week or so of casual play, then level in CH, it will end up quicker !

On a similar note I think the tame release xp should give more seeing as it can be so slow finding anything to tame. Or maybe have Creature Handler mission terminals which request you to tame a specific animal type for a good xp bonus. (well I can dream !)

Yes, its hard, BUT:

Just drop the concept, that your pet has to do the kills.

You get a fix amount of CH-XP everytime youwin a fight,

with your pet having hit at least once and not incapped.

I Levelled TKA with CH, Pet hit once, then TKA-Skills

kill the Target.... CH-XP and Unarmed XP:

Forget taking 2 pets to level.

Nicethingsto level with:

Geocaves Crazed Geonosians (Use CL 20-22 Pet)

Dantooine Quenker (Use Huurton Howler/Stalker baby Pet not fully grown up)

Dathomir Giant Baz Nitch (Use Mutant Baz nitch Pet)

It seems (might be misconcept) that you get more CH-XP if the pet you

use is native on the planet you hunt (Huurtons on Dantooine, Mutant Baz on Dathomir)

than not native. Same CL Non-native petand Native pet vs same target.

MoreXP with the native.

I find it worthwhile to keep CH. Pets are surely not usable as your ONLY weapon,

but fine as companion to a Melee skill (you have to be close to then to heal them

anyway). They are very useful to inflict state effects like dizzy and KD, or dots

like Poison or disease. Also, some are lovingly animated even in their non-combat

moves. ever /peta Cat?

Yes i think CH is nerf´ed, but i remember times where everyone PvP-ing was a CH,

and had 3 Rancors (ugly beasts.. bah.. unelegant).

I hopefor the combat balance.

But as I said before, I want to do CH without having to go out of my way and get TKA or an advanced Melee Profession. I'm right now a Pistoleer, and its not like I can right now go out and take on Enraged Rancors or anything. I can barely handle things like Rogue Faamba right now.

Been a while since I mastered CH (in combination with pistol - never went above pisoleer 0010), before the 2 pet XP nerf.

That said - at the time I noticed that hitting mid-range beasties as opposed to the max I could handle netted considerably more XP. They would die quicker and do less damage to my pet(s). Net result was that although I got only half as much XP per kill, I was killing many more than twice as many.

Experiment with hitting various levels of MoB - you'll eventually find a "sweet spot" in levels where you get optimum XP against time/kill- and this is definitely not the toughest mob you can handle!

Good luck

My two cents:

I am not Master CH yet (3-4-2-3) but I am master swords (helps level) If you dont want to learn another combat prof then just follow the advise of running in a hunting group. You can send your pet to attack evrything that is engaged and get full xp. For example I picked up 120k xp last night for 1.5-2hrs in the geo cave. Granted I feel comfortable going a little bit deeper than the top but remember. Go in and send your pet to attack everything that is engaged, go outside and wait for the respawn. I was getting around 1080-1980 CH xp per kill. It is the fastest place I have found to level.

Actually I will be going back tonight or tomm so if you want to go, bring your babies and i'll tank for you and we can both level it together. Myself and my friend grifter will watch your back. I'll keep the big nasties off of you.
