I have possibly the weirdest template in the game.....Master Creature Handler, Carbineer 0340, and Bounty Hunter 0404. Carbines are my support weapons to CH, and with these skills I fire fast, and have Crippling Shot. I can switch to Carbines 3040 whenever I want in case I'm in the mood for Scatter Shot instead. Also got LLC as well, for some nice Electricity damage.
Overall, it's very useful. The only thing it lacks is defenses, though I did my best to make it up in the defense tree in Carbineer.

I have always been Master CH/Rifles with a few backups for somethin different... this is what Ive added to my template and tried out...
Ranger x/x/3/x.... helped me find a lot of rares... soon got bored with area track
Master Marksman... concealed shot a LOT of Krayts with this build without being discovered... gave up huntin Krayts due to the insane amout of others out there bogartin in
Bio Engineer x/x/3/1... just a taste on what be might be... quikly dispersed that insane idea
and lastly which I currently have..
Pistoleer x/x/4/x... I doa lot of Rancor hunting and with the extra defenses from this I do a lot better at staying alive.

They are both pretty good templates for CH. I would personally go rifleman, better choice of damage types, good attacks, more complementary to CH. BH is good if you want to PvP, but its not as effective as MRM for PvE. LLC is a very solid damage dealer but MOB's with resistances to electricity are more common than energy AND acid. Plus the AP3 abilites of MRM means even against a tough target you are doing a lot more damage.

I had Master Pistoleer, but with the lack of medium and heavy ap, I am going Rifleman. Pistoleer did me alright, but I want to be able to contribute to group hunts.

rifleman atm. With the AP of a t21 it's hard to beat for high end mobs

rifles are the bomb. damage output per sec to compliment the pets controlling aggro is unreal.

MCH & MRM really is a stunning combo.
I did try MCH & BH but gave it up as a joke - yeah the LLC does great damage but you can't beat rifles for a good range of attacking options plus some nice guns too!

Rifleman is the better of the two combos to go with CH, imo, and the best profession to go with CH for PvE under the current combat system, imo.
You have to get ridiculously close with BH to pull off the hard-hitting specials. If your pets are tanking something like a mob of rancors, you can strafe2 or headshot3 with a rifle all day long from 64m.
Another benefit: I have been hunting solo as a Master Rifleman/Master CH in PvE since December 03 without any medical buffs. I keep Novice Med for on the spot healing, and vasarian brandy (and occassional canape) are the only buffs I use. I don't use armor either, no need. Just taming clothes, and Stim-Bs. Pets ARE your armor if you tank with them properly. Yes, you will tick off a rancor or other large beast and get killed once every so often, but you don't have to worry aboutgetting rebuffed when you come out of that cloning center.
Just a word of caution: The combo isn't any good for PvP under the current combat system. If you're PvPing, all you have that's useful is Rifleman, and even with buffs and armor you have virtually no defense mods. I don't PvP much with that toon.

In my oppinion there is no combo like MCH/Mast Rifleman. I have had that template for about the last year. I have always been MCH and tried a couple of combat skills with it. Master Fencer was one and Pistoleer was the other. Both good, but there is nothing like standing 60m away and being able to blow a critter to pieces before it even gets to you.
