Thread: Are you a REAL CH?

There are some professions in this game that don't feel you are a full member of that profession at novice. Many times this particular profession is cited as an example. So since this prof (one I am happily entering into for a 2nd time) is the one so cited, I felt I would come to this board and get your take on it.

In respect to the Creature Handler profession: Is a novice creature handler a real creature handler?

Please chime in.

When I started taming pets, I felt like I was a "real" CH. Nothing like getting your first tame and have that baby follow you home.

if you use all the skills you gain as a novice (taming trianing, calling and fighting with pets) an oyu are intending to master then yes your a ch, if you use the skills but dont intend to master your a dabbler, or inotherowrds just like all proffs if you dont sue the skills your no relaly a meber of that proifesison, similarly if you dont master your only a dabbler in the profession

The only thing you get as you advance in this profession is the ability to call/tame bigger and better pets and train in new commands.

Otherwise it's pretty much the same in novice as it is in master.

i think you are real member of the profession as long as you use the skills it gives. if you are a novice ch, who uses your pets in battle or otherwise, like to tame pets maybe, then yeah, you're a ch of course. then there are people who, maybe, dabble in fencer to pick up extra defenses. wouldn't consider that person a real fencer. don't know if any of that makes sense or not.

I knew I was a Real CH the first time I saw a Cowardly Gurreck baby in very close proximity to a bunch of Prowling Gurrecks. When, without even thinking about it, I /maskscent, remove my weapon and ran right for the baby. I got killed by the Prowling Gurrecks, but I got the baby.

For me it has a lot to do with "how" someone plays their CH... Maybe that comes from the time when I was playing tamers in Ultima Online, I don't know - but for me someone who sees and treatstheir pets as hunting companions that they respectrather than disposable weaponsis a real CH - no matter if Novice or Master...

Thanks all for the replies.

It's nice to see a post asking a question like this can actually get mature, thought out replies instead of the usual flame fest.

I guess I spend too much time on the BH and Jedi boards and I get used to the drama so when I come here I am surprised at the reactions. It's... it's... refreshing. Makes me realize that my decision to get MCH again was a good one.

For what its worth:

Being a real CH in my opinion is not nerfing the first pet you ever tamed just to get that

Uber Bull Rancor. I still have the lesser dewback that I started with and I always will.

Why? Cause we bonded and you don't nerf your friends. I'd rather sell all my

belongings and cut off my right arm than part with a pet. I think that's how most

real CH feel. So I'd sayI'm as much a CH now as Master as when I first started

over a year and a half ago.

As a side note has anyone noticed how many people are saying they want to

give CH a try? It's very refreshing and I think this profession is starting to get

the admiration it has justly deserved for so long. No longer am I just the guy

with the pets...I'm the guy with the pets that just saved your bacon!

Gotta go...it's feeding time and you don't forget to feed a Greater Sludge Panther.
