about # 1. Do you mean they were aware of how they would affect combat before they put them in and wentahead and did it anyway. Or do you mean they are aware that they are disrupting combat now but had no idea it would be this bad when they implimented all of he above.

I think he's saying they are aware now of the effect those things had on combat. I get the feeling that when things where being put into the game it was too early to see how they would really effect the game in the long term because most of the uber items hadn't made the rounds yet. I think the Devs had no idea that things would get this far out of sync.
The SWG system is complex and dynamic so it would seem to me that it is difficult to predict long term effects of things. I'm sure at your job you've thought something was a bad idea but you're company did it anyway, I also think this might have happened to the some of the Dev's as well. Someone may have said "look xyz is bad for the game because...." but in the end maybe they got over ruled.
It's funny, for the longest time it felt like the final call on the games biggest changes where in the hands of someone who didn't ever play the game and only looked at things in thoery not in practice. Slowly now it seems control of the game is being won back by some of the people who see the full scope of what's going on. As if the people that did SWG and came up with all the orginal ideas and concepts didn't take it well when some of those things began to fall apart. How else can you explain armor that is too heavy to wear, CH being able to call 3 of the stongest pets in the game with only 3 or 4 boxes full, all the things that kept popping up that where obviuos desgine flaws in a system or systems that someone created. So despite the best intrest of the game those orginal ideas kept being pushed, but now things seems like they are more about what's good for the game.

It's definitely the latter. You have to remember that in beta, the beta testers were never given enough time to throughoughly test out the high end, elite master combat or crafter, and with crafters it's even more problematic due to the nature of resources shifting. I remember getting built up to a certain point and, whoosh, time for a character wipe! Then building back up and...yes, you guessed it, another character wipe. So the long term consequences of master armorsmiths tweaking components with uber resources never really got much testing in beta. Same is true with doc buffs, and chef foods that really had an impact on play didn't come about until about 10 months ago...chef was pretty much irrelevant until the chef revamp got pushed to live...another obvious example of the incompleteness of the game at launch.
/sigh
after CB I think everyone will be more equal. As far as new features like pet armor
and new mounts I'm not so sure that's in the scope of what they are doing. When I think CU I think
more numbers and stats tweak, not so much "new" stuff. Making everyone more on equal ground. Don't forget
CH was already balanced, we just need everyone else to catch up, we don't know yet how much and what will
change about CH, but we also don't know what will change about everyone else. you talk of swordsmen being uber
with the same number of SP, well we don't know what swordsmen will be like after all this.

Come ’n listen to my story ’bout SWG,
George Lucas said build a game for me.
Game studios all shout pick me pick me,
George pulled a name from the hat and we got SOE.
Sony that is! Playstations! EverQuest!
Well, we all know Uncle George is a millionaire.
Sony's well known (just to be fair).
So for years Star Wars fans waited
For a game they already celebrated.
Smugglers! Wookies! Cantina Dancers!
Fans flocked out and they all bought the game.
First day sells brought it same fame.
People logged on to shoot and mame,
The servers broke on launch day? that is pretty lame.
Cash, that is! Capital gains! I bought this?
Now we've paid for beta isn't it a shame?
RuneSabre wants to change the game.
They had a Summit in Austin just for you and me,
They said these documents are awesome just you wait and see.
Borked, that is! Set a spell, take your shoes off!
Y’all come back, hear!
So, everyone and myself says, make a Rancor be feared!!!
Plus I agree with all the obvious things ppl have been saying like the Area Effect from large beasts, this would make for fun.
But here is one that I would like...
A TORTON THAT HAS A HOUSE ON IT....Yes, let us take our house lot and put it on a Torton, now that would be the coolest thing, a mobile home, park it anywhere. Of course they won't do this, but just think how cool that would be.
R'ed Corvette, Sunrunner
Also, if your Force Sensitive, but not-considering going Jedi, there are no Force Sensitive skills for a CH to learn. If I am going to grind all that FS xp for something, it better be for something good! Not everyone wants to be a Jedi, at lease give us a unique goal is we persue FS skills. +5 to creature level per bar would be cool!
