Hmm I got fleet footed 3 on a lava strider.

It was performing hamstring, blind, and imperiling feint. I wonder if that is just the default placeholder attack or if there are 4 specials you could learn from it. I will have to try and tame more.

The conversation about DPS to me is a void one, let me explain. I have a MBH/MCH/pistoleer dabblerand have just spent a heafty amount on a really nice pistol with high DPS. On the bar graph of player DPSs i would probably be on the uper end, given that i can call 3 pets(depending on what they are i can get a lot of damage out of the right tame) but most of that damage is still done by my personal weapon. Here is where the real arguement starts to me...

A lvl 80 MCH/combat using a decent weapon will almost always do more damage than a lvl 70 pet and certainly more than each of the trips they have as well. This puts me in a bad position in that, as soon as i fire my weapon, i gain the agro of the mob or the attention of a PvPer (mark or otherwise). To top it off, i have no defensive benefits as a MCH cept the ability to wear armor which you would get anyways with any other combat prof and because of this, i have roughly half the defense of other lvl 80 toons with 2 combat masteries. This to me is where the real weakness is in the CH profession, we may have good DPS, but what is the point when we cant live long enough to use it Back on to the beaten path, I can only say this extra little boost will be just that when it comes to PvP and PvE, but will not make us so noticed by the devs(at least it shouldnt) that they nerf our entire profession again.

On a side note, while i have to agree with the requirements for the lvl 80 increase, i do feel sry for the BioE/MCH, they just plain get the shaft once again, fer Pete's sake, give em some combat lvls. Who's it gunna hurt, hmm?

The wiseCH would train their pet with Aggression innate pet ability to take the aggro off of himself. As long as the pet is grouped with you and you are armed with a decent supply pet stims, your pet can take the heat.

The wiser CH would add Hunted Withdrawal along with Aggression so the pet keeps the attention of the NPC/entity opponent with the result of just looking like angry groupies following your pet around with fewer attacks. I unwittingly trained Aggression L2 to my Queen Merek Harvester that came with Hunted Withdrawal L3. I know these two skills contradict each other, but my Queen ends up with a small number of groupies after each battle. She also has a wonderful combo area attack, blind, stun, and dizzy (redundant?). She is like sending in a torpedo into a mob!

Using the above methods, I have the pet initiate the combat, observe rate of it's health pool depletion, heal as necessary, and using the little known method of shooting through your pet, target the pet and open fire with my own attacks. Granted if I want the pet to initiate a state attack, I have to target the opponent first before issueing the command. But with the pet targeted I can heal and fire with little effort and come through the combat unscathed, that is unless I am down range and in the cone of fire from an area attack from the opponent. I just flank the opponent if I know this is going to happen.

Tame, Learn, Train, Use all the pet abilities you can.

Speculate do I. Skill tapes for the new MCH abilities. Better have a BE Clothing garment with open sockets ready for the next new adventure.

If cl 80 use is true i think with the update ALL currently owned ch pets should get an automatic +10 level boost so none of the pets become automatically useless ...So if a ch ownes a cl 70 pet it should be made cl 80 with update!!!!

Then you would not be able to call those pets that auto updated. The cl 80 benefit is as far as we are told a series of quest and items accumulated over a period of time. The time is yet to be determined but I am under the impression it would take a while.

A CL70 pet won't be "automatically useless". And what about the CH's who have CL70's but aren't getting the expansion? What will they have to say when their CL70 pet jumps to CL80 and they can't control them anymore?

  • When I spoke of being able to have tamable versions of all creatures, I was speaking of those on Mustafar. And I would imagine if a BE can make a level 80 pet then you can tame it with the new items. The new items are in game now.

  • can you imagine how much a be would charge for that cl 80 pet?!?...shudder

  • from just screwing around witha lvl 16 BE trying to make pets, I went for oomff over ..well nothing, I died alot, but made some very silly pets..like a lvl 135 durny, with 700+ dam/9k+ham,5k+ armor...its decoration of course, but if I was doing it for a customer...the price wouldbe...prohibitive..though fun. however, it really doesnt take too much more to make a level 80 pet over a levle 54 pet. so it migth not be that bad. its all about the exp. which alot of recipes tell you not to do..so infact its possibly easier to do than just throuw something to geather and hope it does'nt go over. though, admitedly..i am not a master at it..but I made a lot of 73-79 lvl pets with out even trying.

I am a fan of the CH system being updated to allow this leveling process to teach pets new abilities and have grinded to get many myself, despite the extreme time and effort it takes to lvl the pet to A) get the ability, or B) get a high CL pet mature enough to qualify for one.

But, what I loath is how you have to grind in a group almost at Jedi-Grind Speed to get yer specially made CL 70 BE pet to simply GROW! I prefer the old system, you just wait a few days and bam, it'd be an adult. Growth shouldn't matter anyway now right, considering the baby starts at the CL stats it is born at right? This just makes it frustrating that your BE wonder will take you days to get to full growth with too much toil and effort.

Sorry I went on a tangent there, but this addition of CL 80s BE makeable sadly does make me think like my CL 70s I payed so much for will become absolete after just being born (aka: non-refundable for one thing). I've fought through the terribly long grind process to get them to grow and level up a bit to learn abilites, and now SOE just tells me "Oh, we are revamping the system again....you can have CL 80s again. Sorry you lost money investing in our changes." Now I'm worried they'll change it again on me, once they let CL 80s in, they'll get mad about them being too uber and than when I get BE 80s they'll say "CL 80 pets removed from the game or nerfed to make things 'fair'".

I have been a CH from the days of original SWG BETA years ago, and have stuck with it while other veterans of the profession have left in discust. What I would hope to be changed before this CL 80 system would be A) Making growth be determined by both leveling and time or just time, B) The XP requirements per maturity level reduced, and C) Make pets a little better in combat and be able to hold their own (which that thankfully sounds to be happening).

I hope what I've posted hasn't offended anyone or will cause a flame war. Surfice to say at the end I'm just down about those things about the new system I already posted and that SOE has made me invest a ton of money into BE pets I've become attached with just to make them inferior again. Dumb and cornyas it sounds, you get attached to your pets after a while, and honestly feel bad when you let your favorite/key ones go to make room for better BE versions. This was the case for me with the original CH system, then to adapt with lvl 70s for the current system, and sadly seems they'll be making do it again with TOW. I agreed with the nerfs to CH that stopped it from being the ultimate 'tank' prof, that was fair. Some of this stuff though? I don't agree, and it makes the profession I've long loved less enjoyable. Just hope it doesn't drive me to quit SWG

CL 70 pets arn't going to be that bad compared to Cl 80s.
10 levels doesnt make that big a difference and if it is grouped with you the pet will already count as CL 80, besides, now you can call a CL 10 with the CL 70, maybe a mount?
or a pet to add some state effects to that super tnak

The removal of CH and the NGE in general is the dumbest thing a company has ever done. period.
CH deserves to stay, and SOE deserves to be *#&$^#*@ until they are #*&$& and then *#&$ some more!
