If the critter in question is above CL10, the transfer command is required, even for secure trade.
Where this gets very dicey is with BE critters, which are subject to CL changes based upon the latest patch.
Is that how it goes!?! I was wondering how mounts were viable at all if they were over level 10. so the ONLY way to make money in this profession is really only given to MASTER, that's crazy! even Novice Artisans, Novice Medics, Novice Scouts or whatever can make money of their profession from the word go, getting /transfer after suffering up to Management 4 is very reasonable.
With the exception of the August-December timeframe (the period of CL 15 for non-CH pets, and the intial mount craziness) CH has never been much of a moneymaking profession for anyone but MCHs or Pack Masters. There was a bug prior to that period that allowed secure trade of pets without transfer, but it was corrected.
CH should not be looked upon as a money making profession, except in the sense that being a CH gives you access to higher paying missions. Pet commerce is really the province of the BEs, because they can sell pets in deed form, to anyone, on bazaars or on a vendor. Our pets cannot be sold that way; only in one-on-one transactions, and only if the buyer has the ability to control the beast in question. Prior to the August publish, novice CHs could call and control full grown rancors. In the August publish the first pet certification system was put in place which ended the armies of rancors running around, but didn't quite solve the "dabbling" issue, because if you were a 3/2/0/0 CH, you could still call a graul mauler, at the time the best all around creature in the game.
Now that mounts are no longer mainstream as a form of transportation, yup, the market has dried up. For a brief period mounts were THE cool thing to have, and absolutely idiotic sums of credits were being offered to MCHs for mounts. CHs were raking in huge bucks.Well, the craze died out in less than a week, and now it's all but dead. I still get tells from people who see me on my dewback or savage humbaba and want to know if they too can have a mount like that; I let them know they must be a CH, and usually I get a sad reply back. The CH mounts are still cool, but not cool enough for people to give up some other skill for it. So people have to make some choices. Soon they find that having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting, and they're off to pursuing the next cool thing. I suppose Jedi are the ultimate expression of this tendency.
