Thread: Vert Jedi Mind Trick !?!?! Am outraged!
Simple, easy fix: don't make it work on tamed pets. That's all. Makes sense, no? We train the pets, they're loyal to us. They're "strong-willed". Ta-da. Jedi keep their abilities in PvE, we keep our weapons in PvP.

My rant...
Just read a post by Vert in The Can is Open Again... thread. Vert says: "Those are just the little ones. The big boy is Jedi Mind Trick that turns other players' pets rogue..."
The "Those" he is referring to are 2 other Jedi abilities - Animalcalm & Animalscare. If I'm understanding what these abilities do, then it is the most blatantly unfair system I've ever seen implemented in any game I've ever played.
What amazes me is that I've seen few comments (relatively speaking) about those abilities. Am I the only one who is outraged that another profession would be given that kind of power/control over us? It's bad enough that all -virtually ALL - of our pets are vulnerable to light saber (and what's up with that anyway!). But to let another profession CONTROL our pets??? Because that's sure what it sounds like. We might as well just start kowtowing to jedi now, because for all intents and purposes the devs are making jedi our masters.
Most of us are hoping that combat rebalance will once again make CH viable in PvP. Well, you can forget that because ifwe are part ofa raid where the opposing side has jedi then we are not just worthless we are actually dangerous to our own side.
I'm assuming that thesepet control abilities can only be used in PvP, but it makes me sick to think that jedi might be able to use those abilities whenever they want. Maybe it's only full jedi that have those abilities. I don't care. It doesn't matter if there is only one jedi. No profession should have those god-like powers over another profession.
Am I over reacting? I hope so. Why not just let jedi control/neutralize all weapons in the game - turn rifles against riflemen, pistols against pistoleers, etc.? That's what our pets are - our weapons. So, what the hell is going on here?
Vert, PLEASE, talk to the devs about this. This issue needs to be our next 19 Questions. If, in fact, these jedi abilities do what I've read they do, it's reprehensible.
this is an ability that they have told us would exist since LAUNCH. there is no reason to complain about this. everyone who read about jedi should have already known.

While your pets are your weapons they are also a high HAM wall between you and your opponent. A jedi doesn't need to take the condition of a rifle to 0 before he can begin to wack on the person weilding the rifle, and he also doesn't need to worry about the rifle continually attacking him if he incaps the person weilding it until it's condition gets to 0.
The CH profession is unlike any other combat profession in the game. And jedi need a way to defend against it.Honestly if your creatures stop listening to you I'd consider that a minor problem, abilities that could exist would be a return to data pad ability,
Not very likely to happen, cause the up roar alone would shake the game.
attack master command,
This already happens when they use mind trick.
or release into wild command.
Hell NO! If they were to allow this one, not only should they allow perma death back, but they should allow for us to take there light sabers upon death.
So becareful what you ask for because you just might not like what you recieve.
Creature Handlers with no backup combat abilities should think twice before attacking jedi, just like any other non-hybrid combat profession in the game. The power to defeat jedi comes from combat templates such as TKA/Fencer/Doc, or those like Combat Medic/BH. Nosingle profession in the game stands much of a chance against Jedi except for perhaps combat medics onvarious buffs that can poison faster than jedi can heal. There are alternatives for those of you with no secondary combat abilities such as thefaction weapons like the AT-ST and Troopers.
It's a problem because if we mix CH with TKA/Pike or how ever, we should, just by numbers, be able to go against that Jedi with a chance, now, lower end animals, I can understand, but if you have a CL 70 Rancor and a Master CH running the controls, there should be a VERY SMALL CHANCE, IF ANY that a jedi could redirect it. CH's and there pets share a bond, and honestly that bond should be very difficult to break.
The only time I see this being a real issue is if jedi just walk around town doing it to grief other players. But I doubt that they can simply do it on anyones pet at any time.

That's prettty much how it sounds. Jedi at some point would have the ability to take control of our pets away from us. Our weapons. WAKE UP DEVS AND EXPLAIN YOURSELVES. Never seen such a bunch of incompitent and cowardly developers in my life.
Our response will be nothing but silence. Jedi are too much of a priority around here...
Don't be an idiot, the sky is NOT falling despite what you have convinced yourself of.
The Jedi commands listed do 2 things, one calms your pet, which is basically a "peace" command. And the other makes it run away. Someone panicked and hyped you all into thinking it turns your pet against you. Besides, if you've been watching the forums you'd know that Jedi are looking at these skills and saying "**edit** am I ever gonna need these skills for?"
You compare your pet as a weapon which is thin at best. A BH's LLC does not tank for him. A swordsmans scythe cannot take the hits for him. Your pets can, so you have an advantage, if anything. Can you imagine someone sending their Scout Blaster into combat while they sat there and used another scout blaster on the enemy? Like I said, its thin.
Lightsaber damage. What makes you special enough to think your pets should be exempt from LS damage? All other animals and armor have the same vulnerability to LS as your pets do. No reason to whine for special treatment for pets.
Please, if you have an argument to this, make it sensible, no more conjecture.
