Thread: Crimson Razor Cats
I got one too.
Crimson Razor Cat + Kliknik Defender is my favorite combo... They look very cool, one's fast, the other spits, both are fairly small and have great resists.
Wow been wanting one of these for a while now (I specialize in cats mostly). Ran out and found 4 in about 10 minutes ![]()
Thank you all for the tips...
They are good looking animals, and I was a Ranger when I got mine so I just tracked for it. But it was a tough tame. Got aggroed several times, incapped a few by the parents while trying to burst run away. DON'T try to tame with a weapon in your hand, you will likely kill it if you get aggroed.
Funny thing is.. even though this is a CL26 creature, my buddies CL22 Grand Wrix appears to be a better pet. I am not talking about on paper, but in practice. We hunt together and my cat is always taking MUCH more damage than his, and as far as I can tell, they fight equally hard. Get one of each and decide for yourself.
The comments about the Grand Wrix being a better "pet" than a Crimson Razor Cat are absolutely true...sorta. I assume he's talking about PvE, using a crimson razor cat to tank isn't a good idea at all. CRCs have 10% resistance to kinetic and no armor...that's bad, very very very bad for tanking. Grand Wrix has 25% resistance to kinetic, but more importantly (pre-nerf) have light armor...which makes that 25% actually a lot better than it might seem.
Good uses for CRCs:
Killing stormtroopers...stormies don't use melee weapons, but they do use grenades and blasters, both of which the crimson razor cat does well against, plus stormies run and CRCs are very fast.
PvP...okay so there's no such thing as a good pet for PvP, but if there were the CRC would be it. They're resistant (50%) to almost every type of damage a blaster, flamethrower, carbine, rifle, etc can deal. They've got nice HAM at 8500, do really good damage at over 300, they death blow so even if you're incapped the person you set your pet on is going to die, and as mentioned before...they're fast so nobody is going to burst run away like with a graul mauler.
South-South East of Coronet there are a few spawns of CRC lairs, but your better bet is to get a bunch of people to group with you when you pick up a mission so you can get a CRC lair (then just go ahead and ditch the people). You're going to have to be patient with the taming though, because they will aggro, they will death blow, and if you burst run away they're probably going to catch you.
I never saw a mission, I got mine the way Beau was describing above. Started in Doaba Guerfel, headed east following the river till I reached the large body of water on the right side of the map. Followed the coastline south -- came across several CRC's, no lairs just random packs. Saw 2 babies, only wanted one -tamed on first try without aggro from anything using mask scent, and being in prone position.
Good luck.
