Thread: Making CH Competitive

Vertexon, you have seen the CH population plummet dramatically, especially since the last nerf. You have forgotten that you represent THE CH COMMUNITY. You do NOT work for the DEVS. So my advice is to stop making excuses for the devs and do your job and champion the interests of CH to the devs. Not the other way around. M-kay?
Technically I don't work for anyone. I do this because I love the game and the profession, and want to help it any way I can. I already have a full time job that doesn't relate to SWG.
I'm more than happy to have a discussion about CH issues, and to bring up the fruits of those discussions with the Devs when the opportunity arises. Discussion means two way communication (something people said I wasn't doing enough of late last year). You tell me your thoughts, and I tell you mine. I'm not always going to agree with everyone while discussing things. If you disagree with something I've said, calmly and logically explain why I'm mistaken. That's why I'm here.

Bingo!! some of the kiddies out there don't seem to understand that we grownups need to work in order to pay the bills, unlike them we don't live with our parents and get money for nothing.

too true there have been several time where I've totaly disagreed with what you have said and through voicing my opinion on the boardfs for you to respond to we came to an understanding

Technically you DO work forthe CHs. Are you saying that you feel the correspondent position is a free lance position with accountability to no one? Huh?
Allow me to be calm and logical. As a CH representative, you have seen the CH population under your watch drop 75% or more. Wouldn't you agree that this has happened? That a non-hologrinding CH is a rare sight indeed nowadays?
This logically means that the CHs are so upset with changes to the profession underyour watchthat they actually left the profession and some, even the game. As evidenced by your posts and State of the Profession, you really see all these changes as rather ho-hum and seem more concerned with tangential trivialities like "new tricks" and "new mounts" while the fire continues to burn the CH building down to the ground.
Are you not concerned with your rather flip attitude to changes in the CH profession as players continue even to this day to run for the exit? I am rather perplexed that instead of takinga firm stance with devs, you instead use your representative podium as correspondent to proclaim that, except for some annoying but non-game-stopping buys, all is well in the House of CH?
I just read your State of the Profession and then all the comments after it. It's actually so sad its funny.
Its basically Vertexon the Correspondent saying "all is basically well with CH, just some annoying bugs we need to fix, the latest changes meanthat we're just okay at certain things now and here are 50 little things we need improved"... a very very very muted and benign description of what is really going on.
Then you read the comments which are for the most part along the lines of "we are now useless, we are 100% borked, I have left CH, I have left the game, why on earth would anyone be CH now given this major nerf, I won't play CH untilthis nerf gets fixed".
Why is there such a disconnect? Why does Vertexon pretend that none of this is happening? Its most disheartening to have a Correspondent who twiddles along while most of his community leaves through the fire exit.....
Jonaku,
Let me be the first to say I have beat up on Vert as much as anyone. But I currently believe Vert is trying. He is definitely watching our posts. The fact is the red names do not care. Take the great combat rebalance for instance. It was started 4 months ago. The CH's were nerfed. Some if it was good. Spreading the numbers around to make less people uber who were not planning on making CH a career was reasonable. They then nerfed our pets. Making them weaker so BE pets would be stronger. That seems fair in and of itself. But the damage we can produce in PvP and the amount our pets take is severely crippled at this time. Player characters have damage mitigation for PvP and pets simply do not. Even experiments that show our wild tames cannot beat wild creatures of the vary same type are astounding. http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Developers&message.id=27771This link should show what the state of affairs is for CH. I am not saying things couldn't be better communications-wise but I cannot be certain that is Vert's fault. Believe me the Dissidents have hammered at everyone. At least Vert does talk to us. Even me too at times. LOL.
I am not sure I can convince you he tries. But I am sure I can convince you that the Red names simply have little concern for CH (disclaimer) at this moment. The facists controlling my communications have taken the sting from my words at times. There are things you must look at within perspective. Publish 8 was to keep 2500 DE's from quitting the game. (they did/do need as much attention if not more as us). Space Expansion is taking a lot of time to wrap up, SOE needs to be a hit at EEE or E3 if you will. Word of mouth has destroyed this game since get go. Even as I bought it I knew coming in, if I was not a Star Wars fan it was broken, busted, unplayable and should never have shipped. If and only IF SOE has gotten Space Expansion bug free will this game survive. They can sit back and breath a sigh of relief and fix some bugs. Personally I am voting with dollars. SE does not have anything for me and I will not buy it without my profession working. The combat rebalance has even been put off until after Space Expansion. So if you think about it any CH buying SE is saying he does not want fixed. I guess if you want to be a pilot over CH then you will buy it. If you want to be a CH over Pilot you will not.
I personally have told many people if you like star wars and want to offer money up the the lucas-god, then go for it. But remember it is a broken down shrine and expect little from it until they start taking fixing things more seriously. I realize there are many intricate parts. I am not saying they all can be fixed over night. What is happening now is like trying to remodel your basement when the roof has a hole in it. Vert is just the doorman so yelling at him may or may not help. Trust me I have yelled. I think ill continue this post as a seperate thread to see if i can sneak one past Jeasssa and Garva today.

Jon, think for a moment. Would you rather he asked for the sun and stars and was told no, or he asked for the lamp over there and actually got it? Massive changes simply arn't going to happen, and demanding them is going to drown out the smaller things we actually have a chance of getting.
One of the main things that consernse me is that we no diferent from BE. Make us diferent.I am CH and I am running around and looking for BE pets for my friends.Cose they r better than i can tame and they can use it.If u can do so that BE cant do without us and we cant without BE that would be better balace betwin BE and CH.
give us more room for pets in the data
let us make pet ARMOR
flying pets that mount
more pets mounts for non ch
make pets to heal them self ( slowly)
SORRY FOR MY english , I know it is very bad and i dont need to be told HOW bad it is. THANKS

I think that Vert would agree with your comment. And if so, I would call that thinking dangerous and arrogant. And ultimately fruitless.
Why?
Because Vert would then be appropriating -- taking without permission -- the CH community's role to think for itself. He is a "president", not a "king". That means he needs to HONESTLY represent the views of the CH community -- whatever they might be. Otherwise, he is ignoring the CH community and instead figuring out "what's best for the CH community" as if the CH community can't think rationally for itself.
But you know what? It can. And that's why so many of our CH brothers and sisters have left the game or to pursue other professions.
And if the CH community wants to ask for "the sun and stars" -- that's okay! And it should be Vert's jobto reflect that. It *can* work. The Jedi community kept hammering for months through their correspondent mouthpiece that permadeath had to go. Few Jedi and most trolls believed that the devs would never give in. But it *did* work.
As a result, Vert is singlehandedly sabotaging our chances to regain back the former glory and former fun inherent in our profession.

The problem with that argument is a simple one, Jedi is a good selling point, and is WANTED in game, CH is not a good selling point, is , arguably , not wanted in game, and there is no chance of reverting to pre nerf CH, nomatter how much you think its right to do so.
Our 'former glory' as you put it, WAS overpowered, and I for one, would not want to go back to that situation. We need help in PvP, bug fixes, and some content, all of which Vert is trying to get.
That is a feasible target, our 'Former Glory' is not, and should never be, a target. If you remember back then, you would know why.
