Sio,

Forgive me for pointing out that you say do not jump to conclusions but then say the very thing we feel is wrong is best exampled by the Jedi Revamp.

CH was so restructured it caused a mass exodus from our profession. Granted most were FOTM PvP players. The point is I (as an MCH) do not want an influx of overnight MCH. They left of their own rationalization of a broken system. They found other professions that were softer and gentler for them. We the hardcore CH stood by and tried to make CH better. Often led by our own concepts of what made CH cool.

Tivo, Freth, fantoq, Blind, Kzin, meroc, Seiyuu, Sky, Matsuba, the list is large of people who made contributions to CH and held out as long as they could. Much longer than many who surrendered in December. We CH who did not surrender should not be slapped one more time for believing that SOE would some day make things right.

Now that they are making things right with the CU istelf, I can not see any rationale for complete character overhauls on the Live Servers. There is no valid, sound, logical or rational explanation for making things easy for those who already had things easier than they should have, or would have if the CU had been done properly. You know even if CH sucks after this CU, I do not want a free ride to be any other class.

I grinded my way through DE making what gave the most points with what materials I had. Then when I wanted to make a few good droids for myself before surrendering I did not know how. The best way to get through any profession is to play it.

CH was already changed and we had to suffer through fundamental and radical changes and relearn skills that fit best to our templates. There should be no Blue Frogs as we did not get free tickets out of our situation. And now no one should have one into CH. There are things that are absolutely fair for all people for all times. This is one of them. This is not the test server. This is live. If there is going to be a radical change so be it.

But no Blue Frogs.

/agree 100%. Blue-frog-style revamp= same massive profession imbalance, just change the profession names. We're meant to assume that the devs have enough sense to not nerf a single professions into oblivion this time around. As such, free passes aren't needed, since (we assume) no profession will suck after the revamp.

By allowing the blue-frog-effect into the revamp, it's really undermining our confidence in the devs to actually do something right for a change.

It's not like CH got a free pass to another profession after the big December nerf. Why should other professions get one because they're getting a few changes?

Sio,

Hang in there. I know it may be frustrating to watch us discuss something if we are totally missing the point. All we have is speculation and prior history to reflect upon. SOE did not want to keep many CH so making them angry did not matter (even if they made them quit the game in the process). Although Jedi are not a large crowd according to continuity (might I add the one argument that seemingly got us nerfed) SOE still continued to coddle the Jedi. It is a marketable asset to SWG.

The current Dev team seems to be on track (specifically JFreeman). The issue is fairness. It was not fair to allow us a free ticket out last December and was blatantly told as such by the Dev team. If we wanted to change we had every opportunity to do so within the game system as it stands. Jedi as the exception was allowed so because the entire Jedi system changed, it is independent of and contrary to the other profession systems. Since it is totally different from the other systemsI realize Jedi was the exception and not the rule. The other professions, however, are the rule. If they develop a system to allow people to opt out of a nerfed profession now we should see that every time there is a Revamp for any profession. The Rangers, Smugglers and Squad Leaders should expect one when their Revamp comes. And others finding those newly revamped professions more desirable should be allowed to get into them.

As my only disclaimer, if this blue frogish idea only allows a person who is a pistoleer to change those boxes within a pre-existing profession then I would withdraw my argument. As it seems to read allowing a person to quit being a master in one profession to be a master in another with the push of a few buttons is what I am against.

Sign for Hutt Faction here: Hutt Faction

Not against broad changes, just profession specific ones (read as CH) that go against what we've been told in the past.

I think this is going to be alot more than "A Few Changes". Im kinda thinking that every professions skill trees will wind up being more like the Jedi skill tree system with different areas of specialization. They might have different parts of the skill trees divided up between accuracy, damage, speed, and defense. So basically how I "think" this is going to work is you are going to see each branch of the skill tree replaced by 16 boxes so instead of 4/4/4/4 it will be 16/16/16/16 and it should be impossible to master every branch. If the system works out like that or anything simmilar do you see the need for a blue frog?
