Thread: Creature Handler ideas for Dancer-specific pets

Nelly,

Let me point out a few more things.

First, CH did have a market for pets before the grotesque level 10's. Before the nerf Non-CH were able to use cowardly gurrecks and certain krevols. Many CH before the nerf were in the market of selling these. In agreement with what you are saying no one should have a total market on anything. We have proposed a corral plan to "manufacture" none wild animals specifically for the purpose. Free is not a really good term for this idea. And again time is an expenditure and its worth something.

Anyway, I am through debating this out. You simply are one of the few that disagree. My future posts to these types of threads will be to keep it on track and productive.

I have made a suggestion regarding this a few times now. And as such I agree with the Need/usefulness of such training abilities. When bringing up the idea the first response was always to make the pets add some benefit to the entertainer. While I never intended the idea to reach that level I can see it's ability to make the idea stick. But then again the entertainers already have such an option with droids.

The problem I see here is two fold, for one thing I don't want to gain something at the expense of the Driod Engineers. There are maybe 50 of them left in the entire game spread across every server. Secondly you are going to have to out-do or at least match the usefullness and aesthetic capabilities of the droids to make it at all popular. A droid can have a light show, fog machine and every effect under the sun. A dancing Mamien is not going to compete with that for longer than it takes for the "cuteness" to wear off.

Also I think this idea is a bit late. With the concerns over what damage the CU is going to do to the entertainers there is no room for this to be anything more than a distraction from the problem at hand. (And I hope that is not what this is) They no longer will be mind buffing or healing mind wounds. And these two actions are the basis for 90% of their income. So what will they pay for this service? Or are we all back to acting like CH's are here to give them things for free?

The simple fact is no CH is going to dislike the idea of more possibilities for training or new pets to look for. We have been given so little in the last year that anything is good. Of course we would enjoy this. But why bring it up now? Now that it is going to be of very, very little use. It reaks of attempting to either placate people by throwing them a bone or trying to remove their attention from the 10 guys removing their furniture while they are not watching.

All in all why don't we spend our time figuring out whether there will still be entertainers in a few months rather than cute ways we could have combined our professions a year ago. Without true solid information confirming there will even be a demand for entertainment, much less entertainer pets, this is all moot.

Yeah, this particular proposal is on the back burner for the moment. I have read the feedback (and debate), though, so the effort is not wasted.

I understand what you are saying, but understand we brought up the idea of a corral over a year ago. This added thought of proff specific pets was also started some time ago. Way before anything about the CU was shown to us. It is not a new idea. It is an old idea that has been ignored. Like many of our bugs and such, it has been put on a shelf for sometime in the distant future. I am sorry to say all of this has left a bad taste in my mouth. Can anyone say anything good about any of our ideas? Has anyone at least thought how this might work with de? Before it is thrown out the way of many of our more promising threads, can anyone think of a better solution than to just scrap it? Can anyone tell me why any of my suggestions could not work? Say we scrap the whole proff pet idea, it was thought up as a way to bring more to other proffesions in the first place and perhaps give us more solid role.

I do have to say one thing, anyone who does not know that B/E pets arefar superior than any wild pet we can tame has got to be playing a different game than me.

Meuw,

I understand the sentiments. I truthfully understand Nelly's too. Although I honestly feel that the PSP's can work in conjunction with PSD's. A PSP does not have to trump a PSD.

Every revamp but CH was played out in each community. SOE gave us what they wanted to give us and we were to like it or cancel.

I also agree these are not the most pressing problems in the galaxies. The CURB first, I don't know what the poor entertainers are going to do, other than become a social class. Smugglers are dying for love. I see carbineers and pistoleers cry so hard they surely haven't played CH. Theres always the eternal Jedi/BH conflict.

I guess if I were an Entertainer, I would propose a moral buff. 1-10% depending on levels. This moral buff would give either a bonus to faction hits or damage. I like the idea of faction hits moreso than damage because it would encourage more seperation of factions than everyone holed up in Cnet like we are buddies. That is to say a faction bonus could only be applied when the Entertainer is Overt. And I like this so much I may try to pitch it in the Ent forums soon.

Vert maybe you can pitch this to the Correspondents behind the blue wall to see what they think. I like it. It would be something for me to use dancers for again since CH take such bad faction hits for pets anyway.

I totally agree with you velm. Why cant we work together on this? A de can not only craft his weapon but can also sell it. Wow I think this is way to self sufficient. He makes his weapon, uses it, AND sells it to others that do not need a CERT to use?? And then this "pet" or "weapon" provides a bonus to this non de?? Take a look at you argument, a little slanted one way. LikeI have said on both threads, there is a way to imlpiment this that would benefit both ch and de plus all the other proffs who seem to like ...no want this type of added content. Not just ch. I just dont get it. As brought out before, we have so many things that need to be fixed, to argue over a proposed benefit to many different proffesions seems a little ridiculous. As stated before, give the droid a +1 pet module that allows the pet to be out with the droid. The droid giving benefits and the pet giving benefits. Working together, we are not trying to take anything away from de. And for petes sake, we have always been able to sell pets. Now you say we are to self reliant?? however, everyone is intitled to their opinion and I respect yours. I just dont see why this could not be a benefit to both proffs, not a compitition between the two. We all know both could use a little help.

/bump

I know we have pressing concerns in other areas but I had an idea and put it in the corral thread. I also stuck a note on the entertainer thread. Please take a look and see what you think.

Thanks guys

Umm, havent you ever played first person shooters? Making the ent be overt is just going to start a new trend of (people) going overt just to go in a cantina and (hurt) all the overt entertainers.

Well I didnt read the whole debate just the original postbut I think profession specific pets would be a neat idea, especially for entertainers. If certain creatures could have some effect on other professions, even with moderate bonuses , it would give us a salable item. More interesting I think would be to tie these bonuses to very specific pets and make them harder to find, or at least not very common. This would make finding them a challenge for the CH and also introduce some content in the way of creature lore.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why DEs would feel that creature pets that have entertainer specific applications are competition. The benefits of entertainer droids and entertainer creatures should compliment each other, and perhaps stack. There's no reason why both professions cannot receive benefits, but more importantly, the entertainers need love, especially after the brutal nerf-by-default that the CU inflicted on them.

The main reason to oppose this seems to me to be part of the overall developer open hostility to facilitation of role play aside from BH/Jedi asshattery, which appears to amuse them no end.

Pets that work for entertainers, like droids, should speed up the BF healing and inspiration buffing process. Futhermore, BOTH should grant things like 5-10% regen bonuses for say a 60 to 90 minute period. Perhaps the droid adds 50 minutues and the critter adds 40 or something.

Then there are critter pets who help in healing (this is a proven fact in the real world, pets do aid in patient recovery), pets who rescue on the battlefield, pets that assist in reconaissance and security work around perimeters. There are so many ways that pets could participate in the game aside from their role in direct combat, and as transportation.
