the idea of being a CH is an entirely spiritual and personal choice. we don't do it because we make a lot of money, and we don't do it because it makes us the best combatants. i personally do it because i LOVE MY PETS!!!!!! but you didn't ask what the idea of being a CH was.....you asked how CH's make money. unfortunately, there's not a lot of money to be had for a CH in the Pet Trade; BE's have the corner on that market.any wild pet you could catch and sell to a non-CH, a BE can make with A LOT better HAM and attack dam. when you're high enough to tame a pet as a mount, then you can charge for that service....but you can't make a living at it. the advantage our pets DO give us (as you grow higher in your CL) is that we can get higher paying missions by grouping with our pets (and don't forget that as a CH, you can pull out a pet AND a droid......which when grouped, gives you even extra $$$). and if you take creature missions and harvest the meat and hide, you can sell those items on the bazzaar. that's how you make money as a CH; but that's entirely different from WHY we are CH's.

Well, one nice perk for Creature Handlers is the ability to pull bigger missions. With two pets and a combat droid out and grouped, I can pull level-46 missions from a terminal. On Dathomir, that's enough for rancor and craggy bolma lairs, worth about 18.2k per mission. On Dantooine, it's enough for some of the cave-man missions or thune lairs, which on an enhanced-job-market terminal will net you 21-25k.
And when you locate a good-quality creature resource, you can make some very good money. Docs pay well for avian and herbivore meat, combat medics love good insect meat, and armorsmiths use wooly hide for wookiee armor. Leathery hide is another good seller.

It truly is a sad thing what has been done to rake Creature Handlers over hot coals. ANd for what? Because some people cried about it when a CH would pull out 3 Rancors and wipe out their gank party? Because a CH could make a million bucks through good honest work by selling creatures of 10lvl or less in the same way EVERY OTHER(BLEEP) PROFESSION does? Maybe they don't like us because we have to actually practice our profession to be any good at it. Not just sit on our butts and use macros.Who knows, all we do know is this; only people with an actual love of the idea behind the profession use it. There is no money in it, no glory in it, and short of pulling out your pets in a CH show-and-tell there is no payoff to it. You want to become a CH, well you had best be both patient and able to be happy with your own accomlishments and end empty pockets.
I have found only one remotely decent way of making money as a CH. Do this: go to Corellia, then go out and tame every single 10th lvl creature you can find, paying special attention to Carrion Spats, then wait the ten (bleep) days to let them grow up. Then mount train them and stand in front of a noob spawn point like Mos Eisley or Coronet and start spamming "Selling Non-CH mounts!!!" and pray people will buy them. Then you get to listen to at least half of them scoff and walk away when you charge a totally understandable charge (say 10kand they laugh, like they can get one themselves).
Unfortunately this means for 11 (bleep) days of work you might get lucky and make 40-100k minus the (bleep) 20k you spend repairing your bike and any shuttle charges you may or may not have to pay. And this is all moot unless you have ALREADY mastered Pack Master and can even train them as mounts. And then you have a totally full datapad trying to do it so therefore you no (bleep) pets of your own. So you can't even try and get more XP while growing them, because at that lvl they are too weak to help you. Which wouldn't matter except now they make it so a creature HAS to be attacking a creature when it dies or you get NO xp for the fight EVEN IF IT WAS FIGHTING THE WHOLE TIME!
I was just yesterday fighting aDune Kimogila with one of my cats, he was tearign that bad boy up, then right at the end his damage got too much and he ran, then came back. HE WAS STILL ALIVE! but since he wasn't actually physically attacking the creature with 30,000 hit points at the exact time it died all of the XP he would have gained from standing toe to toe with it for 4 minutes were apparently useless.
But enough with the rant. One more way of making just enough cash to buy yourself a CDEF pistol worth 10 credits that someoneis trying to sell for 6,000 is to sit in a cantina and take orders from dancers and othwer entertainers for Beared Jax's and other furrylittle cute creatures they can use, then fly all the way there and scoura planet just to find one damn VirVur baby. Another totally unfair way for us to just try and survive.
What's next? Maybe they will restrict us to no higher than lvl12 pets! Then we can all have Peko Peko fights YAAAAAA!

[Iakimo puts on his "Oddball" persona from the movie, Kelly's Heroes and replies:]
There you go wit' dem negative waves, man....
LOL.... three rancors out at once? Sounds like your memories go back a long way!
I don't go that far back. I only started playing SWG in April '04, so I didn't go through the experience of actually watching my profession go through the 60-megaton nerfs. For me, the process started when I realized my pets were totally useless in PvP.It's continued up to the present, when I realized that three of my pets' most dangerous attacks (poison, disease, and knockdown) were broken.
Heh... I wonder what the Teras Kasi Masters would do if their knockdown/dizzy combo strikes didn't work, or the Combat Medicsif they could only throw their poo at odd random moments.
The only real redeeming feature of CH is the fact that we can function independently in most PvE, so we don't have to put up with the antics of the l337 stackers if we don't want to.
But then, as so many of our colleagues have noted, we don't play CH to be "u63r l337 doodz."

how to make money? well do missions and use the meats/hides/bones to sell on the bazaar or to people that ask for a specific type.
as a ch you don't make money but you do safe alot.
since i have started on ch i haven't taken any buffs at all, mind you i am a tkm too.
i mostly wear a combo of mabai and ubese armor wich now lasts me very long.
i am not at a lvl where i can train my animals to be mounts, and until that time i welk most of the way. with my pets out and hunting pretty much anything i can find. i pick my battles carefully sometimes a bit recklessly.
but today was the first time i actually walked unbuffed and packed with a couple of stimpacks and a bit of canapi and brandy from the dantooine mining outpost to the imperial outpost! it felt great to do it with out buffs and no vibroknucklers.
just me and my to halfway wrixes wich i tamed myself.
so allthough i can't really hunt the high high level beasts out there i get the feeling of actually playing the game with a bit of danger involved.
no more just hunting stupid missions over and over again till your sick of it. buffed to over four times your regular ham, in armor that you can't even wear comfortably without them. looking exactly like the guy standing next to you.
did i mention i love being a ch?
atleast i can fight in a different way now i don't care that i don't got millions in the bank...well actually i do right now but i always made my money with harvesting meats.
i actually milk animals now from time to time. and when i can get even better animals tamed then i can go hunt bigger game.
so allthough ch isn't a primary source of money, itkeeps costs down very well my armor last forever it seems, soon i won't have to pay for swoop maintenance and since i walked and searched every lair on my path tamed as many animals as my lvl and luck will allow, my mounts will seem to go pretty fast, and without seeing lairs when i am allready past them.
LONG LIVE THE CREATURE HANDLER!
(if you want money go down some of the well trodden paths only a couple of templates that everyone seems to use that will make you rich and keep you rich...but what's the point to be like everybody else?)

Im going to go Pikeman/Creature handler (dont tell me if thats a sucky build or good ill figure it out by doing it)
on to my question
Is there any type of Spider or Goanna i can tame
Id prefer a spider that was more like a Redback spider (think they are called Black widows in America) the skinny lanky legs with bulky body looks creepy
but any spider i can get will be fine
a Goanna (big lizard) i would like if no spiders are tameable
Any suggestions where i could find one (i have no expansions so cant go to the other planets until i buy it)

welcome to ch
You can get a hermit spider bio made by a bio eng in red and black to whatever level you want it. I did for a guildey once. Also you can get a giant angler spider on yavin that is red and grey in colour but he is level 68 so u gotta be master to tame it. There are gaping spider queens on dathomir but they are black and green and level 65 there are also gaping spider hunters which are orange and black on dath they are level 68 I THINK. There are also spiders on yavin but none match your requirements for colour - happy hunting mate

The closest thing to a black widow body style is the gaping spiders. And those don't really look anything like a black widow. I had one in World of Warcraft. They're neat looking. But SWG has no widow-like spider.
