my first elite profession was CH.... i still haven't given it up, but it's losing it's fun-factor quickly. it was fun to be able to pull out pets that no one else could.... but now anyone can have any pet (made by a be) pretty much. yeah the stats aren't the same... but pets are pretty useless in pvp and pve now.
the other part of CH that stinks is... people freak out when you ask them to pay for training, whether it be training a mount or full training. that's like getting mad at a doc for asking to be paid for buffs. no we dont' have to use resources... but we took time to level up and it takes time to train the stubborn creatures. entertainers expect tips... and they aren't using resources.. so why do people think CH should work for free.

Especially since you have to keep a free space in your datapad in order to hold their animal to do it.i think one of the most souring nights in the profession for me was the night that someone told me that I should delete one of my pets so I could train their mount for free.

Well, my standard reply is that I do not train BE pets or any pets for non-ch's. I make exceptions for CH's and pets that are obviously not for combat. My favorite was a non-ch that came up to me and asked "Why would anyone bother to master such an anoying and useless profession?" Before I could answer, he asked me to train his BE Bantha. I told him I mastered it because I like to tell people I do not train BE pets. lol He then offered to pay me because he had been trying to get it mount trained for over a week. I love /addignore. lol

Sorry to hear that your anniversary wasn't that much fun.
I ran into a spawn of 3 individual Giant Krayt Dragons at one of the Wild Dune Boar waypoints on Friday night.
On Saturday night I incapped a Jedi in Mos Eisley that I was told was dueling newbs.
On Sunday night I took out two Enraged Dune Kimos. Technically it was solo, but they kept each other busy for me 
My friend and I hung out in Eisley on Saturday night dressed as newbs and dueling with knives and cdef pistols. That was fun.
More fun was earlier we were in his house and we had out our 3PO droids, his sarcastic mine geeky. We dueled all over his house. He put me on Admin and we ended up in his weapon room pulling everything off the wall that we were not certified for. It was really fun.

Actually, it takes a CH with critter level 35 to pull out a rancor BE, it take a real CH with 50 to pull out a natural rancor. So that's one thing we have over NCH. hehe

These entries bring back fond and painful memories being a CH.
Many times - even nowadays - since the CH revamp, people have asked me why I bother to keep the CH profession. I just can't imagine giving up my Ravenous Torton: George, or my Rancor: Bilebelch. I was heart broken when I gave up my Graul Mauler twins: Daihok and Graygus.
People often expect me to train and gather pets for them free of charge. Groups hardly ever ask for my services, but that's ok, I can manage on my own, as long as I have another combat profession to suppliment. But being a Master 2hand and MCH, I was able to manage 4 rancors at a time with my Delerious Merek Avenger, and kill them all rather quickly. If it weren't for being a swordsman as well, I could almost certainly have to group.
CH's have definately become the dregs of SWG because of these poke comments and the CH revamp. The devs have effectively pushed us towards thebottom. But I remain an MCH, why, I am not entirely sure 
I am also not very impressed with the progress of the game over the year considering the anniversary.The graphics still lag like crazy, missions often don't pay out. Warping is still a problem. Content and imagination is still seriously lacking. And being a CH still means being disliked and outclassed.
There is so much that could be done, but for some odd reason, they just aren't willing to do any of it any time soon...

You know, I've gotten around this pretty easily in the past. Right now, I only hold a couple pets, ones I use on a regular bases, a Wrix named Jeff, Mountan Dewback named Q'pla, baby mountain dewie named Lung (Klingon for Lizard-like), a Cu Pa named VorCha, Desert Boar named Targ, and a Lantern Bird named Phoenix, all of them are natural tamed. the rest of my slots I have stuff like baby kreetle, baby dwarf nuna and little crappy pets like that. I've had a MCH friend of mine teach them all transfer. and I teach them everything but the kill command. So when I get asked if I have any pets they can have. I tell them I could get them a Zuccu boar for 5k fully trained. They tell me, they want one they can have for free. So I pop out a dwarf nuna or a kreetel, target the player, say Transfer, say "Thats what ya get for free," then go about my business.
I know, bit of an annoying pr**k but hey, people have to learn, you can't get everything for nothing.

Haha, I wish I could keep "spare" datapad space like that. I just get too attached to my animals. Knowing me, I'd get all slobbery over a nuna.

My very first tame was a dwarf nuna. Those things are so funny looking. They are almost a pencil dot running around trying to keep up with you. I laughed everytime I called it and went running. Then it grew up and went poof.

Thank you very much. That's the whole point of this . . . a log so that a Dev (if interested) could read it and see how the problems in the game affect the AVERAGE, day to day player, not the "I can't solo the game any more!" player.

Well, one daily thing that happens to me that you have not written about is the tell hell from newb CH's. Now, I have a soft spot for the poor guys and train for them for free. I do not, usually, train non-ch pets. MCH is so rare on my server that last night I had 4 tells as I was logging in. I trained pets for novices for over an hour. They kept coming up and getting in line. Some have been trying to get them trained for over a week. What I want to know is why a MCH, with +25 taming clothes, has the train command fail 5 or 6 times per command on something like a wild Gurcat? I could see some failures on a Rancor or Kimo but I trained a Wrix and had to repeat each command 9 times to get them to take.
