So what's the real reason they're axing CH? Unless their lying to themselves, these are all just excuses.

CH is Star Warsy, there have been pets and mounts in every movie.
We know that the less than 1% thing is bull.
Fitting into the new combat system? Pets work basically the same way as droids (except pets are way cooler), right? The coding has to be pretty similar, and they had to already have worked out any interface problems with the droids. Why are droids in and pets out?

So I ask again, what's the real reason? They can't think of a good picture to use for their "Iconic Profession" start screen?

The squeeky wheel gets oiled. Keep making noise.

Well I read this entire post and was a little surprised no one mentioned the skill of a CH and movies have shown it. 4th flick sand people rode banthas, Hum had to be tamed by someone in that group. 6th flick rancor tamer/care taker (already mentioned) 2nd flick Anakin tames that big as rhino thing as it's charging him down, 3rd flick Ben rides that crazy fast lizard that if no one seems to knowtice was screaming the whole time until he dismounted touched its head and it shut up that very second. All of these things point out that pets are STAR WARSY!! Fact is they made it so in the movies that not everyone had such a skill thus making it rare, much like this so called 1%. But fact is they are in the epic, they have their place in this epic and they have their place in this game. It has been posted here about all the things that are in this game that we never saw in the movie, like the flame throwers, like the medics ( i know some of you will blast me for that but the only ones i saw in the movies were robots, i never saw a live being act as one in fact in the 3rd movie you see a trooper calling for a medic and a robot is flying over from the far left side (it's brief but there)).

Sometimes I like my creatures other times they are as useful as a bag of hammers.

I am SO sick of this crap about pets and people who train them not being "starwarsy"

Did these people even watch the movies?

Who trained the Ton Tons on Hoth?

The gungans didnt even use any vehichles in ground combat, they rode into battle on Kadus, carried their equipment on Falumpasets and Fambaas.

And Jabba the Huts Executioner was a Creature handler with a Rancor.

I wish I was at this meeting

Please after what they did with the expansion and necklace do you really believe them???

Come on how foolish can you be to even remotely tell us here that they will someday try, theres hope blah blah blah.

You know deep down in your heart they will say wahatever it takes tostop the flow of cancellations and the truth of the situation from being splattered to magazines and across the forums.

ko

i luv ya man, but I know if I was sitting in your living room and asked you how you really felt you would say "I don't believe em" I know you feel bad and alittle responsible and want to keep a glimmer of hope. But thats not really a good thing. This profession is like a terminal disease with a1 in 80 million chance of survival the quicker people came to grips with the reality of the situation the better off they will be.

To believe they will shelve ch for the future and someday merge itis like waiting for snow in hell.

You all know it, lets be honest with ourselves. Don't be a soe/swg tool and help spin the threads of hope tosave a sinking ship. After what the last few weeks have shown us its all about the money, they will do and say anything to meet those goals.

Please to thine own self be true.

My god SOE...this game is our escape from reality....why then do we have to stress so much lately over your "advancements" of our escape.....1st point, u made CH a part of the equation.....one of the LONGEST held proffesions held by people is CH....now you wish to take our enjoyment out of the "equation"......oh but wait...right after we pay for an UPGRADE that is useful for what...a few days? if this doesnt stink of class action, i don't know what does....which is sad really....this is a game...but it's also something people have spent time and money in...invested alot....but that doesnt matter as long as u can take this to the console crowd...isn't that true....yes, alot of kids will flock here...for about a month...until the next game comes out...but if this goes live, my 2 accounts and my kids accounts...will be cancelled...period...and ANYTHING carrying the SOE brand will not be bought and used....yes kids play the games, but i pay for them...i don't pay, they won't play...i do not mind sending my money in for a service i enjoy and can depend on....you taking my money then less than a month taking all the "rewards" away.....nope..not gonna happen...whats next? the house of full of adventuring memento's i've collected....doesnt' fit your description of "star wars"...it's gone next? automated droids instead of crafters? oh wait, my character name isn't star warsie enough.....going to change my name? guilds...oh yeah...can't have those...player cities? nope they will be gone next....say it can't happen? just watch.....no more houses, camps or tents needed...jsut logout where you are....no need to build up a mystic of creating your "own universe"...nope, can't have that....you will only be in the universe when you log in...no more vendors (no item decay, why buy something more than once? ) ......yeah so much for us making an actual "life" for our characters....it doesnt fit their "star wars"......why even have 9 proffesions....we all know they only want jedi and BH's....and wouldnt' that be easier to maintain for them? yep.....god and this was such a good game too...early on....bugs, yes...oh yes...but lots and lots of possibilities.....but we have to dumb down to the controller crowd....instead of offering a rich intricate galaxy...we get the simple dumbed down...instance....oh boy....i'm excited..../sarcasmoff...../turnoffhope.....maybe another company will buy the liscense...and do this game justice...i'll support them...SOE has lost me...

For the record, here are the five stages of grief, as outlined by some researcher whose name escapes me at 4:30 am....

  1. Denial: Shock, numbness. The brain's first response to traumatic events. Allows the mind to absorb the reality of the event in increments small enough for the person to bear.

  2. Anger: The victim lashes out, looking for the cause of the situation. Can serve a productive function by energizing the victim during the early stages of absorbing the reality of the situation.

  3. Bargaining: The person searches frantically for an alternative to, or an escape from, the situation

  4. Grief: The full weight and reality of the situation finally settles in on the person. Characterized by depression, feelings of loss, and hopelessness.

  5. Acceptance: Closure and recovery. The person chooses to move on after his or her loss.

They have been working on this for at least a year while throwing smokescreens. Bugs in the original release have gone without fixing for 2 and a half years. I would not hold my breath for ch making its way back before the servers are filled with IPwnJooNooBs people. Personally I am happy that the devs of swg have pushed me out the door.

And yes I have been on test center, no it is not an upgrade, at least in my opinion.

NOT STAR WARSY???!!!

Ok I'm going to point out a few things here SOE and let this sink into your wee little brains....

How in the world can you say it's NOT star warsy...

There are pets IN star wars, Nym has the dogs, Jabba has the creepy little monkey that laughed all the time, Luke had R2-D2, Han had the ton ton Jawas had the bols, Tuskians have the banthas, The Nightsisters have their Rancors, the nabooian domesticated cat riders have the Tusk cats, the Gungians have the Kaduus and Fambaas, and so forth...so SOE DON'T give us ANY Crap about CH NOT being part of Star Wars!!!!

DO NOT TAKE CH AWAY FROM US!!!! We love this profession, and after ALL..YOU PROMISED THAT CH'S WOULD BE ABLE TO LOOT A CH TAMING NECKLACE TO TAME CREATURES UP TO LEVEL 80!!!!

Unless you BAITED & SWITCHED & LIED TO THE WORLD, Do NOT Take away CH AT ALL!!!

Unless you want to be known as a Gaming company that Lies to their Customers and doesn't keep your word, just take it out. NO One will Ever believe you or your lieing Devs again!!!

As for making it Star Warsy, than allow people to be able to be Jawas and Tuskian Raiders and the blue people and so on.

I hope you didnt take my post as an angry insult towards you, or though I meant you were being a yes man. after reading your reply I get the feeling what I wrote was partially misunderstood.

My feeling when I read this post were ones of sympathy, a sad grasping at staws and ofhope that is non existent.

I will vouch for your sincereity and I know your no yes man.

What this community just went through is very much like my analogy of a person with a terminal disease. Like myself I'm sure quite a few people here have known someone who has fallen prey to something.

Let me tell you astory, my families.

Three years ago my mother was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. You would never know it by my post here but I was a positive influence then to all. Deep inside I cried knowing the odds and truth of the situation but never showed it on the outside. My Sisters all played they're parts as well. My brother and father on the other hand, were never able to grasp what was happeneing, They would listen to a doctors discussion with us and then turn to everyone afterwards and say "well thats good news, hopeful" while tears would want to bust from inside because we were just told in not so many words there was little hope and to concentrate on comfort.

My father and brother were only capable of hearing what they wanted, toread into something that wasn't there. Unfortunatly as much as it saves them from pain at the time I think it made them more vulnerable when the time came to say goodbye.

I tell this story not for sympathy from anyone but for understanding on what we all are doing right now. All of us who have loved this profession are going through a process much like I discribed.

Shock, Anger, Sadness/Greif, Hope, Then To Fight.

In the end deep in our hearts we know we shall lose something we held dear. This is what I was speaking of on my last post here. This is what I see happening with many people.

I understand you position dictates you spread the word, you feel a responsibility to do so. It's what I like about you . I just want you to know two things. Onenever doubt the faith we all have in you. Two even when you feel you must, or are responsible,to do something at this point in time you are not.

It's ok to sit here and grieve, be selfish and let go. Keeping the chin up for us as noble as it may be takes alot out of you, believe me I know. In my family I was that guy evreyone looked too. I never had the heart to break they're bubbles and in doing so created a bubble of my own.
