It depends on how much you keep it out. The fastest growth to adult I have had is five days. I kept it out constantly during play. It is server out time that makes them grow nothing else.

I'm a MBE that enjoys making CL10 pets for friends (not taking new orders!) but don't know a CH, so I've started up the CH profession. I don't yet know transfer, but I've heard that I can tame CL10creatures, teach it basic commands, and then trade it to a non-CH via the trade window. I haven't been able to test this yet however.

Is this possible?
If so, is this only for CL10 or below trained pets?
If so, can I trade grown 10(10) pets this way so they're not getting babies?

Kudos to Tivo for making me laugh harder than I've done in quite some time.

I want to point out that while you write this FAQ just about every question pertaining to the use of pets contains workarounds or info pertaining to glaring bugs that should've been fixed months ago. Maybe you (Vert) can use this FAQ as a template for what to take to the devs next time you want to report a list of bugs to fix. lol

What is the format for giving commands to a specific pet when you have more than one out?

I tried "/tellpet (Fido) Kill", "/tellpet Fido Kill", "/tell (Fido) Kill", "/tell Fido Kill" etc.

Often, I want to pull just one pet out of the fray in order to heal but leave one in the fight to keep aggro off me.

Will I have to train one pet with a different set of commands?

Yeah, the one way is to assign them each a unique attack command. Tellpet always goes to all of your active pets. You can cut down on your keystrokes by creating a custom macro that will give the attack command for all of your pets at once, though.

Question to SOE Support:

- why is the Ctrl-H "help" system so worthless? I mean, come on, there really isn't anything helpful about it

- why is it that I have to go to "fan sites" to get my information about creatures, professions, items, etc.,
(which results in a lot of heresay and myth). Why can'tSOE put a section with REAL and ACCURATE information
onthe OFFICIAL web site? (which creatures have babies, what are their CL levels, what is the HAM, what are it's
various resist levels, etc, etc....) I can't believe that a game, which will end up costing me over $230 Cdn per year
in login fees does not have an online or ingame database system that is worth anything to even mention. It's a joke.

- I believe that Creature Handler XP using 2 or more pets has been drastically reduced in the recent "patch"... but
was it mentioned anywhere? If so, where?

Answer from SOE Support:

Guess what? Nothing was answered that I asked. I have submitted 3 emails to SOE "support" and NEVER
gotten a real answer to ANY of the questions that I put forth. Just basically the same **edit**e that you see above.

Q. If a Master Creature Handler has skill mod of "stored pets +20" and they can store up to 22 pets (2 that everyone non-CH gets, + 20 more), then why is it that we have "Max level of pets +70" yet we can only call pets up to level 70? (where is the 10 lvls that everyonenon-CH gets?) Also, we seem to have "Max number of pets +3", yet we can call only 3 pets. (again, where is the 1 peteveryonenon-CHgets?) I posted about a similar issued on 10-26-03, and am still awaiting response.

Q. The CSRs tell me to post here, yet my questions go unanswered, and my issues unresloved. Are the CSRs wrong?

Q. Once a creature handler tames all the creatures he needs/wants, what use is scout to us? It becomes totally obsolete, now that camps are not required for anything. I realize there is a speed issue (assuming you don't have to craft the tent first)

Q. If creature handlers rely upon their pets to protect them, yet it is not practical to have them follow you through town, and everywhere else(since they don't keep up), why is it that we cannot call pets during combat? Commandos can pull out their flame throwers during combat, should we not also be able to pull our "weapons" out during combat? I don't care to hear complaints when I walk through town with two very slow, very loud, very large kimogilla following me through to protect me.

For those that don't know and i know for a fact many dont. there is a way to make your pet "hold" the thing you are attacking. to do this simply make a macro that says /tellpet kill, kill being your attack command. then go to the options menu and go to controls and keymap. then go to custom and find the macro you just made and bind it to a free key on the keyboard. when you send your pet in to attack something keep hitting your attack command and spamming attack. doing this will insure your pet will make sure your target stays in one spot and wont run all over the place. hope that helps you guys.

Ok, I highly recommend not doing this. Some pets have an animation associated with starting their attack. If you spam the attack command, they will continue to "start" their attack and never actually do it. The GSP crouches, the webmaster rears back with fangs in the air. I've watched as "non-ch CH's" spammed attack over and over and their pet was the last to get there and sometimes never got into the fray. They complained and said their pet was bugged and wouldn't attack when in actuality it was crouched and ready to attack through the whole fight, but held there by the "attack" spam.

Use the /tellpet command, and only issue the command once. If the creature runs, or if your pet runs, issue the command again. Keep your attention on the fight and don't depend on some shortcut to do it for you. It is in your best interest to learn how your pet responds and how other creatures respond. Its part of being a CH if you are to be a good one.

Actually those points really aren't that good.

Non-ch have a built in skill of +10 to max levels of creatures, I just don't think it shows, giving us the illusion that its at zero, but we know it's +10.

Your next issue is pointless for the CH profession itself. If its a bug you need to use the reporting system, most other questions can be answered within the holocron by a CSR or use of the Knowledge Base. If you're posting on the forums, then the answer you want will most likely only be answered by other players.

Scout is very useful as a CH, terrain negotiation and mask scent come to mind right away. Additionally, the creature knowledge you gain is of utmost importance when you identify creatures you are about to attack or tame. Also, you are able to harvest more resources for yourself or others with scouting. You don't need master scout to be a CH, you only have to do the exploration and hunting trees. Camp kits have no bearing on CH as it is not a requirement. Besides, as novice scout you can make camps if you need them, no need to climb the survival tree. You called scouting "totally obsolete" which is completely wrong.

You cannot call pets during combat because it would grossly unbalance the game, whether you use them as your primary weapon or not. Think of this scenario: You have a datapad full of Rancors, you send one to attack a big creature, you sit back and watch as he dies, and just as he does, you store him and call another and send that one in, and when he dies, you call another and send that one in. Ok, you have 22 rancors to continue fighting with. I'd call that really imbalanced.

If you are in danger in town and require a pet to follow you around, then you've done something to cause that yourself. Your own choice. I've never needed a pet to defend me in town.
