Thread: CH is just fine the way it is.

I'll share a secret. I like being trolled. I'm a mathematician with a near-photographic memory in certain forms of media (I can't remember a name to save my life but I can recite forum posts word for word). Which adds up to making fools of trolls and their 'logic'. It's hilarious to point out the fallacies, flaws, and utter stupidity of their arguments and watch them make the same argument with different words, start insulting based on assumptions, and ask why I've turned the discussion into a flame against them when all I'm doing is refuting their points. It's better than the game sometimes.
Ryyger,
I just went read your last reply. I then went back in the thread to read your previous posts. I think maybe you should. whilst you claim to have an almost photographic memory concerning forum posts I would have to point out that it is probably futher from almost than you may think. Your arguments and conter-arguments are just false. Your claims in the latest ranting specifically regarding what "you" wrote are just wrong. Please, before you respond to this I would like you to scroll back up the thread and look at;
1. What you wrote.
2. What I pointed out that you wrote in at least two posts.
3. What you then stated that you wrote. (not in fact what you had written).
I would be fine with all of this if you had just posted some thing along the lines of "what I meant to say was xyz." instead of "what I wrote was xzy". Honestly you have already lost all credibility with me. I realy dont believe that you ever played a master creature handler. I really think that no matter what profession I suggested was doing just fine you would have argued that it needed to be better. Back to my post I think that all the facts point to the fact that CH is not meant to be a stand alone profession but I agree that is is combat oriented which is why I draw the conclusion that CH is a combat SUPPORT class (and a good one).
I really wish you would stop talking about grammar. This is a bulletin board. I dont know which is your natural language but I dare to argue that there are not little smiley faces or elaborate look at me adds at the end of every paragraph. Im not trying to publish an important peice of literature, I am trying to make effective communication which can be entirely grammatically incorrect so long an the target understands it. I believe you keep mentioning grammar in an attempt to sound more intelligent than you are. You did one star every one of my posts and it wasnt due to my bad grammar because my "bad grammar" wasn't that bad.
Please before you one star and respond to this post go back and read all the previous posts.. and pay attention to the details because you are starting to really look like a fool.
Miq, you have constantly claimed that CH is designed as a support class. As things stand, I agree with you. The problem is that Master CH does not provide as good benefit as Novice Medic does, or the advantages in picking up a second combat profession. Meanwhile it requires a substantial investment in skills to be worthwhile.
As for my memory, that's a null point. I know how good it is and I know how it works. Among that is that I am well aware I rarely remember the exact words I use.
"I realy dont believe that you ever played a master creature handler."
Never claimed I did. I'm still working up the skill tree. This is what I'm talking about -- you're assuming things about me and my arguments that I never say. You claim that all my posts are flames and griefing when, if you took the time to browse the forum a bit, you would geta better idea of who you are dealing with.
As for grammar, I don't recall slamming you on that count. I go up against the types that use REALLY BIG RED FONT AND CAPS or can't be bothered to use capital letters at all. I also don't 1-star for grammar.
Miq, if you want to actually argue about Creature Handlers, this can continue. Your other option is to keep assuming you know everything about me and what I am and continue providing me with endless laughter.
I've been a CH since about a week after the game hit the shelves and I was an MCH up until about two weeks ago.
Like many I swore I would never drop CH because it was so important to me. After months of play and being hammered into nothingness, I realized three things... 1) I'd played CH to its limits, experienced it to its fullest, 2) I was at a standstill and needed a change--both because of the weakness of MCH and because my gaming needs were changing, 3) A dying profession is only going to get worse than it already is.
CH is probably the most fun I've ever had in any MMORPG and I'll always remember it for that. I had come to grips with its limitations and fortunately I had experienced most of what it had to offer. I had every pet I wanted, I experienced everything I need to make me feel fulfilled. I had also started playing PVP which CH can't compete in, but I soon realized it wasn't just CH that was the cause of my PVP weakness, but the fact that you just can't win consistently unless you have the power templates, the food, the buffs, the drugs...all of these things. PVP, I learned, is for powergamers and thus has turned off the majority of the players.
Move forward a week or two and I'm now a TKM (yes, the TK grind is that easy!). I don't miss my pets or the CH profession at all. I thought I would have pangs of regret, but I don't. I had some of the best pets on the server (Intrepid), but they don't even cross my mind now. You're looking at a former CH that was fulfilled and has moved on. I feel like I've lifted a weight off my shoulders. I like to call it the CH burden. Yes, CH is fun for awhile, but there comes a point when you feel you need to move on, especially after all the bantha dung I've seen since the beginning. It just so happens that my own reasons for leaving were beyond frustration, to complete reconciliation with the whole status of CH. I let go. I'm no longer passionate about it.
Now that I see the other side of the fence (TK), I know what it's like to be so underpowered. Even Master Pistoleer (which I have) is a joke compared to other professions power-wise. I realize how far CH has fallen. TK isn't overpowered. CH is underpowered and broken.
If you enjoy CH, then more power to you. I do believe you will reach the same point I did and move on eventually. I thought I'd stick with CH til I cancelled, but oh how times do change. Me? I'm enjoying TK, not for the PVP uberness, but for the martial arts roleplaying and the knowledge I have nothing to fear from most creatures/NPC's in the game. Now that's a comforting thought and knowing I'm not weak anymore is a wonderful thing.
I wish all of you luck with CH.
Miq,
You are going to make me doubt you even are a CH. You may have read guides, but when CH XP is 1500 for the bull rancor with the right pet it is hard to believe you would recommend Taming over Killing. With the right package of people you can quickly gain CH XP. I have not been to the Geno Labs but it seems things are dying every second there by the inferences made by others. You can hardly pass up the Killing for Taming if this holds true. A small pet and all the AOE in the world in one place? LOL. Buy a vowel.
As for CH being perfect...you have been using too much Muron Gold. Autostore sucks. There is no reason to remain CH over non-CH with BE pets being uber. Stand alone? SOE will not allow stand alone professions for very long. Go look at the EQ boards and see what happened to Wizzies, Necros and SKs. Before long I would expect Doc Buffs to not work if the Doc does not remain grouped with you. Forced grouping is the SOE mantra, quickly followed by nerf now/fix later. All those are coupled with Expansions are better than fixes. Oh and someone will inform me (I'm sure) that this is a complex game and takes time. 2-3 years in prep and beta phases and fastly approaching 1 year on the market. If 30+ professions was going to be too much to take care of they should have thought about that. The game launched unbalanced and broken. We were fixed and then neutered.
Combat rebalance supposedly was going to put CH back in the race. It is dead. Somewhere in some Devs vast empty space there it lies in suspended animation. CH will never be fine the way it is. You keep hologrinding. I am certain you are not a long time CH. You merely present that to make your argument sound better. Find another way to defend the Devs. If you merely mean we do not need to return to UBER status then say just that. But to say that things are fine is wrong. I will call you on it.
Go read a list of issues. Go read any response the Devs have given back on a list of issues. Go read Thunderhearts assnine posts on CH. Go read where he tried to retract any of that. Go read JustG's the combat rebalance is delayed because we want to make sure we do it right. Then read where he has answered are the CH's going to be reinstated until you get it right posts.
CH is fine? LOL. That is a joke. I get the feeling you are really TH's significant other just trying to defend his incompetence.
If it is fine. You should go play. Leave the forums to the rest of us that enjoy them much more than the game.
As of today I'm 2/2/1/2. I'm just running destroy missions, getting CH and weapon XP. It's slow, but it's fun. Triple underline fun.
When I hit Master CH, I'm going to re-evaluate the situation. If my pets can handle anything of substance, like a typical faction destroy mission, without needing my help, I'll drop marksman. Or at least any elite combat profession. I love working with pets. I don't find much satisfaction in watching colored lights fly from my character.
In addition a few more medic skills can be handy as healing a pet with a 10-12k ham can be a hastle. I found that you can "stack" heals. Use a pet stim for 825+ wait 2 seconds use a normal heal.. when the message comes up that you are ready for more heals repeat... makes the healing process much faster.
That's funny, because as a Master TK I do more damage to myself with HAM costs on specials than anything shy of a kimogila, krayt or high end rancor will do to me. I even outdamage (to myself!) arachne queens, with multiple poisons active on me! If I equip VKs, it's just insane how fast my HAM drops. Sticking a creature between me and the target doesn't improve that. It just means the creature gets the snot beaten out of it, giving me much more downtime while I heal it up or switch it over to another pet.
No, far better off dropping MCH and picking up MDoc, self buffing, downing some brandy and healing yourself if you ever need it, which you probably won't.
I miss MCH for two reasons: I can no longer call my pets, even though I refuse to release them back to the wild, and I can no longer boost the level of missions terminals give me. Not for the combat abilities, which are laughable.
you're funny.
as for youn00b CHs out there, just ignore his joke post. a TK is a 1,000% better tank than any pet. You are wasting skill points with CH if you're looking for a tank.
