My suggestions are to make the game fun for everyone. The only way creature handlers have any hope of getting love from the developers is if we mingle our ideas along with the general populous. If you approach the problem from an us and them mindset you're predestined to lose. There are many more of them than there are of us.
The BE vs CH thing has been beat downto the ground. Why would a customer go to a BE? Because the BE can make a better animal plain and simple. And no, you don't have to be a master CH to train attack or mount. A BE that dabbles in CH can indeed be one stop shopping. Selling an animal for 20K is pretty common place to a BE. The debate is futile from an economic standpointwhich is why my suggestions are based on fun and not economics.
How can you make mounts more fun and the creature handler profession desirable? Make multiplayer battle mounts that must be driven by creature handlers. How cool would it be to have a bunch of melee people running into battle with theranged support riding on the backs ofrontos driven by creature handlers? This can be applied to PvP and PvE.
I like the idea of giving mounts certs for armor if armor for mounts is allowed. Unfortunately the masses will cry foul because the masses aren't creature handler. Therefore I recommend no armor for mounts at all. Otherwise the crybabies will get there way andyou will indeed see the uber CL10's running around with armor.
but, you have to be a creature handler at some level to sell a mount dude, what dont you see there? Also, I am not knocking a bio engineer, but you are useless to the mount community without a creature handler skill, or a creature handler. Once level 10 be monsters are gone, there is no advantage to buy a mount from you unless you are MCH/MBE.
I am preaching interdependancy here, you are preaching be vs ch. I have said nothing about taking the dependancy a creature handler has on the bio engineer away.
Also, the debate IS economic as far as who sells those particular pets. If you dont understand the economics of this game (it is a big exercise in economics btw) you should rethink it a bit. If they nerf level 10 pets (which they are gonna do) thre is really nothing a be can do better than a CH as far as mounts go. Mounting animals IS the job of the creatuer handler, it is in the creature handler's skill tree, not the Bio Engineer.
Like I said, there is nothign wrong with multiplayer mounts, have fun with that.

I highlighted my original post because you must have missed that sentence. It was in reference to your question why a customer would ever go to a BE.
The debate is economic but it shouldn't be. This is why; Give every player armor for their mounts, full combat abilities from their mount including specials, why not just allow a player to entertain and doctor buff from their mount. Do all those things and more. The only response I have as a BE is, Hoorah!! You've just put a ton of money in my pocket. I can make every type mount in a non-creature handler form. You can't do that. I can craft these mounts better than you can find in the wild. You can't do that. I can sell mounts off a vendor. You can't do that. I can grow animals in my datapad just like you. I can dabble in CH just enough to teach mount along with those novice commands like follow and attack and YAY, I've become one stop shopping. I stand to make much more money than you do. Do you want to ask me again if I understand the economics of the game?
You're making two assumptions about BE'dCL10 animals. One is that they will be nerfed and the second is how much they will be nerfed. TH said the uber 10's will be nerfed...a year ago. He never gave any parameters as to what an acceptable CL10 will be. Regardless, even if a BE'd CL10 is marginally better than the wild they are still better and again all the mount bodies are available in BE form.
All of this points directly at why I say get away from the economics. Creature handler is combat class. It is not a crafting class. You should be approaching the issue for the standpoint of making the profession, creature handler an asset to the community. Carve out the niche you've been lacking. Stop looking at your bank account and look at making your profession fun and viable again.

I think the concern here is that the act of training an existing pet isn't really an economically rewarding one. It's fast and easy enough such that there's more than enough people willing to do it for free to cover the demand. There's no difference in quality between someone who's free and someone who charges, aside frompurely incidentalconvenience factors. So the real money in pets tends to be on the supplier's end, not the trainer's.
There are currently substantial differences in the mountable creatures that can be produced by a Tamer versus a Bio-Engineer. Only the BE has access to the kaadu, falumpaset, bantha, and cu pa species in a non-CH form. The BE also has a certain degree of flexibility incoloration.
