Thread: While you're fixing the Elite Pets, Make Grand Wrix Elites as well! :)
Heck, if they copy WoW's hunter class over 100% but keep the 20+ pet storage we have now (meaning: all pets have different but equally valid purposes based on their creature-type and stats; no delay to call pets; only a short delay to store; pet level commensurate with owner's level, increasingas the owner does; having USEFUL specials and are actually USEFUL in their various roles of tanking versus damage-dealing; and interact more directly with their owners), then I would be willing to come back and play the damn game again (on half of my toons, at least).
I know they can *try* to, but it remains to be seen if they can do it even half as well as the Blizzard team has, all without introducing disastrous bugs and balance problems; thus renderingthe entire effortmoot.

This new pet specials system sounds very like the one used by Hunters in WoW.The WoW version is not bad at all but very simple in design and use. If I rememeber correctly you get 3-4 types of specials and they increase in strengh based on the level of the pet.In actual use it does not seem to really make a marked effect in combat but the pricipal is good for CHs.The one improvement I really hope we see is such a system taken to the next level with much more interesting and effective pet skills implementated. One of the reasons I dropped WoW and came back to SWG was WoW was too simplistic compared to SWG and it would be a shame to see such a wonderful idea watered down to something no better then WoWs one.Good new JFreeman.Note: I would also like to see the Grand Wrix made an Elite. Many of us older and newer CHs have fond memories of the creature and it does have a certain appeal to it.Message Edited by MugHug on 07-01-2005 03:49 PM

JaronKai wrote:Second, I second the motion that the Grand Wrix be added to the cadre of elite pets, though I must admit I'm getting kind of tired of all these cats, can we get an elite Hurrton or Kusak too? I'm a dog lover in RL, I feel like I'm betraying something sacred when I realize my datapad is full of cats...
LOL!
Good call though... Cats are a bit abundant.
I actually only have my one Cat, but I'm rather odd... I'm too stubborn to use things that are better but are not what I want to use.
So, I use lesser things... but that's what makes me happy, so that's what I do.
Just once, I'd love my preferred thing to be a good (Or great) thing, hehe.
I'd actually like to see that for everybody.
Anyhoo, yeah I've always thought there were too many people with cats... used to be Greater Sludge Panthers, Gurrecks and now Narglatches...
Maybe it'd make you feel better to know that most people that have never seen a Grand Wrix before usually comment about how Ozzo looks like a giant Boar mixed with a Feline.
To be honest, I'd like to see more creatures that hold little resemblence to any Earth Creature.
May the force be with you.

I understand. Really I apologize for the lack of communication recently (or...maybe a little longer than "recently"). We've gone through a bit of a team restructuring phase post-CU and post-RotW, assigning different programmers, artists and designers to different sub-teams as the RotW team and CU team came back into the general mix. Some of us are even still moving offices (and almost everyone moved from one office to another, if that gives you any idea of the scope of this).
I'm the new Live Lead Systems Designer, for example. It's taken me a couple weeks just to figure out what's going on (prior to this I was on RotW, and prior to that on JtL, so I haven't been "in the loop" much with regard to the live game or combat upgrade).
We also have a new live producer and a new creative director (who still needs to pack up everything he owns and move to Austin!).
Communication will improve, and so will the quality level of our publishes.
Thanks for hanging in there through this one! May there never be another like it...
Well thanks for keepin us in "the loop" its more than appreciated by most I'm sure..... looking forward to hearing alot more from the red names soon.

JFreeman, thank you for the time you've spent on this board of the past couple of days. I really appreciate and others do as well. Now that we're informed of the fact that you have a proposed solution to the broken pet specials, and that it's being developed, there's a possibility that we can move on to other issues and get ready to give you guys some constructive feedback when it moves to Test Center.
Part of the problem with the lack of communication is that, because no one told us a new system (or any sort of fix) was actively being developed, we were left thinking that a lack of mention of CH in patch notes meant that NO progress was being made, for whatever reason. My patience level, and my willingness to give constructive feedback, goes way up when I know that the Devs are working on their end, and I think it's the same for a lot of others.
I really look forward to seeing this new system, and hope that CHs can be given and In Concept thread or something similar to discuss it in the same way as Smugglers were allowed to discuss the new slicing system. Also, thanks again for keeping us updated on the issues with our pets CL and the "elite" pets. I was very upset when I saw my female narglatches were not "elite" anymore, but when I came on here and saw an almost immediate response from you, I feel like there's no reason to be really angry. A mistake was made, and it's going to be set right, I appreciate that. I look forward to seeing this next hotfix clear everything up, and then to dialoging with you, or whoever is in charge of the new specials system, to get those changes tested, polished, and brought live.

THX U!
This is comunication with your costumers!
I really enjoy every time a Dev take a time and postsome answerabout our questions, many more whenthe answerd is fast.
And we enjoy this other kind of information because all this internal changes affect us in the daily evolution of our game, now we know a little more about devs and what are doing.
I hope this "iron wall" fall little more every day.
And hurry with the moving, we need you all working in the first line of the battlefield (no subliminal message here
), we have many things all and new we like see fixec & improved.
THX U!
He was my very first pet (Yes you could tame a Grand Wrix at novice back in the old days) and has stayed as my loyal friend ever since.
Hehe, seriously though... if those female narglatches can be like that, I would absolutely love to see the GRand Wrix with those stats... I mean, they are "Grand"! I think if any cat deserves it, it's them... and I say that with ALL biased opinion... but even if I weren't biased, I'd agree with me, because I'm so handsome and charming!
Seriously though... I would love to see these creatures have an elite variety...
OR
Even better, I'd like CH's to be able to make one (Or more) of thier pets "Special" (Or Elite).
It's cool to have a reward (Base it on the CH's level) and what would be better than to allow a CH to have their favorite pet have optimal stats... or be their most used pet?
Regardless... Ozzo is an Elite Pet! No matter what stats you give him. (But I'll give yah $50 if you give him better stats!!)
May the force be with you.

You seem to be under the impression that the changes to elite pets was an accident.
And if you read the forums, you would have seen that it was, as posted by a Developer.
