I've never been a CH or had pets other then a bol, the val or my vir vir {BunnyKnyght} but i have a very very dear friend who is a master ch and i feel for her in the way she would have to grind now to get even her pets specials even tho she is MCH already

Every XP level rolled should unlock a slot on all pets, from level 1 to 70. No pet should have to be rolled more then once for this to happen!1 roll=1 slot.

That is the bare minimum I would expect from SOE. The pet grind is worse than the village in it's current form.

I have played this game since the beginning, and have been a master creature handler for a long time now. It was the reason I bought this game, and it is the reason I still play. I love the new idea's for this class and all the changes made to keep this profession interesting... but this new creature experience grind is unbearable and unjustified. I can no longer tame and raise low level mounts for the people in my tribe the way I used to, since I cannot find the time with all thework I mustdo with my own animals in order to raise them.

Non-fighters used to enjoy this class since they could raise their animals WITHOUT fighting, and gain experience themselves through taming and training. An animal should grow on its own, otherwise it is never worth the time to raise mounts... since they are almost worthless as is. I am a Master Creature Handler... why do I need to grind up the level of every single animal I decide to tame? This is not right, and we do not deserve this treatment. We no longer have the time to enjoy our profession...

Tzitzimime - Creature Handler and Pikeman since the beginning.
I continue to play this game out of love for my professions.

When the "New Game Enhancements" go live, I will leave this game.
You can give it a pretty name, but it does not hide your shame...

"I mean, what is a pikeman and why is it something in the game? The only other profession we didn't absorb into one of these iconic templates is the creature handler and only 1% of our players play that character type."

Spread the word.

Either:

1 xp roll = 1 open slot. Along with learning ability based on skill.

or

1 xp roll = all slots opened. Along with learning ability based on skill.

This way the grind-work is all based on the time you invest on SKILL POINTS. Nothing more...nothing less!

MCH deserves to adventure and play, not endlessly grind for limited returns!

While your at it SOE, fix pet food. Throw our fellow player Chef's a break so we can do business with them! Trying to tell me pets don't need food?

I'll be quite honest here. When they applied the publish that added xp to our pets, i couldn't believe it. I had just made it to MCH. For me that was a long haul, because I work, go to school, and have a family. It took me several weeks to get to the point i was at. I am basically being asked to re-grind what i feel i have already earned, the title of Master Creature Handler.

My initial plan...make it to MCH, and MR, and then start running quests, and guilding, etc. What choice did i have now. My pets had no xp. So I didthe only logical thing to do. I've pretty much ignored the abilities. I still go out and fight with my pets. I just don't really worry about abilities. I would prefer to spend my time looking for different pets, running quests, and helping fellow players with specific hunts or quests.

I ran my first Krayt hunt with some folks just the other night, and you know what..... not one of my creatures had any abilities other than inate, and I had a fun time with it. I even got some tissue.

To me the whole ability thing seems senseless.

Pet training xp is probably too high at the moment when the end result is taken into account.

By that I mean in mmorpg;s the accepted gameplay model is longer grind = more power.

That has also been true not if just mmorpg's in general, but of SWG in particular from the beginning. jedi being the prime example.(Yes I know they have issues, the fact is they are supposed to be 1.5 times the power because of the longer grind, besides, I think any full temp jedi is at least 1.5 times any mch template in our current form).

Until now.

We have an xp grind to gain all the available specials , and to open slots on a datapad full of pets to train specialist high level pets for various uses(to be the most effective ch we can be, in essence, mastering the profession) that is similar in stature to a padawan> full temp grind, yet at the end of it, CH as a profession is not in real terms any more powerful.

A level 70 pet untrained is useful , but cannot really take on level 80 mobs effectively solo, a fully trained pet is no more effective at taking on the players level (assuming 80) mobs, after a few million xp grind.Yes, they are better, and its nice to have specials again, but in terms of pure combat effectiveness. The grind really achieves little.

that is breaking the whole design of the game, longer time= better /more power.
Until you get to CH.
personally, I dont want the power, i remember the days of ch fotm before, I dont want to see them again. So i would say an xp adjustment is needed.

The worst part for me is having to use level 10 dewbacks etc in combat over and over again so that I can train a pet mount for a non ch guildie. That just makes it seem like work to help out friends, is not fun, and is just extremely tedious.

SOE fix this!

Last night I rotated withpets. I am getting to the point where it is not fun to log in. As much as I want to learn the specials, I am not a macro-grinder. So I grind mypets. Working with a level 64 last night. Rolled XP twice for 600k. No ability learned and no open slot! 600000 XP...for what? NOTHING!

Anyone 100% happy with this system is lying to themselves.

I agree wholeheartedly with all the comments and recommendations. Including the elimination of the 15 second plus wait to call and store pets. When I have been in a team by the time I have stored, traveled to the next mission, and called my pets again the mission would be at least one third finished. So I have begun to do missions with a fellow MCH and in so doing we take turns taming baby creatures as we find them going to or from our missions. It is true we don't get the benefits of a large team but at least our pets get a chance to get experience not only from the kills but also from the lair's destruction.
