How do special attacks work? It used to be, pre-patch, that pets would automatically use their specials. Now, do I have to continually spawn the the special 1 and special 2 commands to make pets use them, or will they still automatically use them without ordering them to do so?

Now, I have no strong opinions as to Ch, the only reason i am even doing this job is because my second Holocron told me to. I am finding it difficult to gain xp, as i just started 0-0-0-0. Any ideas as to what pet I should tame and use in combat. I am a novice commando, and can easily handle most of the stronger beasts on starter worlds. Any input is welcome.

Start with a carrion spat mount...let it get in one hit then kill the target with your commando skills...and be ready for a grind

alsoa total noob question....

how can i found out all these stats,,,,

such as how many creatures i can have

what level creatures are before i try and tame them

What pet to grind w/ answer:

NONE.

Do taming instead. Tame everything that will let you get near it. As you level up it will get you more and more xp per tame because of all the commands. Also, when you reach level 33+, buy a bio-enhanced mask scent outfit (25 max) and go to Dathomir and tame, tame, tame. Forget about the kills (the only thing I was able to find was using a vynock as a pet killing low level creatures outside of Coronet and using regular stim-B's on it to keep it alive. Allow it 1 hit then 1-shot kill the creatures. It works some, but I think it is slower (and much more tedious).

Here is my post-patch Tame/Train/Release strategy:

Get a Landspeeder - they are fast enough to run away from any creature, but slow enough not to outrun the spawns. Pick a waypoint to go to - maybe a POI (Point of Interest) or a fairly far off city. Put both Mount and Dismount on your toolbar. Have a taming macro: /follow; /tame; /peace; and a toolbar key formask scent as well as onefor putting mask scent back on from your vehicle: /dismount; /pause 1; /maskscent; /pause 1; /mount; (NOTE: you need to have targetted your vehicle or you won't remount!) and a quick train macro like /say x.

Start cruising toward your waypoint. Watch your radar for yellow squares to appear (they are lairs). Drive over close to the lair and watch the spawn for babies. No babies:drive on. Babies: tame em! Babies, but the creatures break your mask scent and aggro on you: drive until they stop chasing, use mask scent macro, return and tame. If you don't break your mask scent you can target a baby from your vehicle, drive right up to them. Now, hitdismount on your toolbar (you will still have the baby targetted) now hit the tame macro. You will follow and tame the baby. If you were over 10m away when you hit the tame macro hit it again and drive closer next time! If you fail the tame hit the macro again. If the baby aggros on you - target your vehicle and jump in it! (Use your toolbar key.) Drive until the baby gives up and go up to the sentence above about broken maskscent and aggro lair.

If you can get in without the adults aggro-ing on you to start the taming, they will not attack when the baby does. You are pretty safe. Just jump in thevehicle and repeat until you tame the baby. I travelled from outpost to outpost on Yavinand city to city on Endor without firing a shot while picking up some cool pets. You dont need any skill at taming vicious creatures to travel to the toughest planets and do this (although that limits you to the non-aggro babies).

Suggestion on climbing the CH tree - try to get Training 3 as a priority. It gives the command Patrol, which is actually 3 commands in 1 (Clear Patrol Points, Get Patrol Point and Patrol) this will give you 3 times the training XPs as other boxes do. I like the Training line anyway as it gives you the additional pet storage.

Mix and match this strategy with other activities to make CH more fun. Good luck!

i tried taming,,,, that was way to time consuming as a noobie....maybe when i have 10 skills to teach

it was much faster getting some low level pet, in my case cupas and a noxious vrelt, nothing over 10-11 mind you and just spam killing outside Keren...got a about 100Xp every 30--40 secs as the spawns never stop and you can basically stand in one spot...

thats about as dull as driving around aimlessy looking for babies and the xp comes much faster

you can also macro that

what i plan to do though is just buy a few 100 BE pets and just macro training and killing them....

Macro for getting CHXP

1. buy a bot and make the bot /stay outside of town, near where all the creatures are spawning

2. write a macro to target the next available creature (use cycleTargetOutward)

3. tell pet to attack (use /tellpet or /say)

4. target pet so you can follow it (/target (petname))

5. follow pet (/follow)

6. assist pet (/assist or /attack)

7. wait 20 secs (to ensure that creature is dead), then harvest corpse (pause 20; harvestbone)

8. target bot

9. follow to go back to starting point

10. loop macro

11. play with gameboy while you're watchiing the monitor.

i ammended your macro slightly...

i just group and use follow from the drop down instead of putting it in the script:

/ui action cycleTargetOutward;
/tellpet [attack command];
/pause 8;
/attack;
/pause 8;
/harvest [X];
/pause 4;{longer if you want to have a few seconds to use a stim}
/ui action toolbarSlot[X]

sp far my favorite grinding pet is a the Noxious Vrelt Scavenger and my favorite location is the Keren Starport

Another quick tip for newer CHs - keep an eye on the Bazaar for cheap pet deeds. Seen them selling as low as 50cr, buy them all up. Best to save them till you have around 10 skills to teach then just burn through them doing the tame/release. You dont get the exp for taming but you get the regular 100xp per skill taught. So with 10 skills = 1000xp per deed, they never fail to learn on the first attempt because they are low lvl so you can burn through 20 in no time earning 20k exp.

Also a decent way for the higher lvl CHs to burn the last bit of exp needed for a block if they happen to be in town near a bazaar terminal anyway.

After I got to 1/1/1/1, it was going to be tough to get to the higher levels by taming/training/releasing and using babies to attack Rills, Chubas, Nunas etc. Someone suggested I hunt in a group on Dant with one of my pets. So that's what I did. I joined a 5-strong hunting party with my female tusk cat (CL 15 or 16) and we went piket hunting. I was getting 480 or 620 CH xp per dead piket. As long as your pet gets in a coupla hits, you'll get the xp (A bonus is that piket meat is very valuable to doctors btw). We also took on a couple of voritor stalker lairs, which proved a little more challenging, but my cat was earning me 790 xp for each dead lizard. I went from 33k CH XP to 60k in a couple of hours, using just 1 pet. Not only was it a fun evening, but I managed to get to Taming II and collect over 1k of piket meat in the process, as well as the cash bonus for the destroyed lairs. In fact I reached my CH XP limit and had to leave to get trained, at which point the hunting party kinda broke up.
Definately something to bear in mind if you hate grinding as much as I do. And I'm not a holocron CH, my goal is to be MCH/MBE with a few weapon skills thrown in.

ive not so long since started ch and yes im a noob, i found the walkthrough very helpfull btw

i would also like to say that all i do is goto dant and hunt, i get loads of xp from my cu pa (lol) as well as the meat and the money, i personally find this the best way cos its not mindnumbing as sitting waiting for creatures and attacking fo only a 100k xp. with the voritors im finding that im getting around 996 fo each on i kill, is this cos im using a low level creature or do you get that everytime regardless?

keep up the good work guys and gals
