Thread: Sales Griefing and Mounts

I have been raising and selling cl10 mounts for the last few days... but have run accross a problem.
Basing my pricing off of the forums, mount availability, customer input and effort involved, I have been selling Cu Pa mounts at 35k, BE Dewbacks at 65k (great stats) and Banthas at 85k (95k w/ innate ability) and any l1 abilities of their choice are included.
I have sold many (no spamming what-so-ever) and made several customers very happy... and they felt it was money well spent (as I seriously RP the transaction). Unfortunately there are a few MCHs that tend to haunt around my location and grief me and my clients... saying that I am ripping them off and selling only to the elite... ???
FTW is up with that? If they can sell them cheaper, then why don't they? Why is it their business how I value my craft? Why do they insist on under-valuing my craft? Why do they think that this is the old days where you couldn't make 100k in space in 1-2 hours???

My honest opinion is sell for what you think is fair or as in business try to undercut you compition to gain ther business. I am MBE/MCH when i started i had a fairly complicated formula for selling my be pets. I went all over looking at other BE pet prices. My formula made lower lvl pets much cheaper than most my mid lvls about the same but made my higher lvl pets a little more than most. Then they changed the way vendors work and i was out of business till I found a merchant. At that point i switched to a very simple formula 1k per lvl + 10k if it was a master skin. I would say my prices are on the lower end wich means more business for me. I have never charged for any CH stuff i have done for people because that is not how i make my money although i have been tiped for ch work. If i was ever told i sold my be pets for to much I'd just respond "Maybe but my customers are free to shop anywhere they want." and if another BE said i was under cutting the market I'd have tell them "perhaps you are not doing it right then. I'm making plenty of profit off my pets and if i raised my prices any more I would have to label myself greedy."

My reason... for why I sell them for 35k... which I have stated... Is that I can't leave Mos Eisley with out seeing a bunch of them... so I don't have to hunt for them... and I train them up very quickly... less than an hour now for 2. That coupled with the fact that almost no one wants them, that most don't think they're even worth what I sell them for already, and my servers economy.
To the whiners that say you are charging too much, invite them to come sit down and sell the mounts for less. To the customer that felt you cheated him by charging too much offer him a refund in return for the pet (check that the pet is in good condition). To the customer who might be worried offer a (timed) refund if they find a better price elsewhere).
Use any or all of the above as you choose. I personally think you are asking way too little for the mounts but YOU are the only one who can decide if something is worth the time.
On my server even with my MCH tags on all the time no one asks about mounts so it never comes up. If it did I would have to refer them somewhere else as the time invested raising and tracking the mounts is more than I wish to spend on a game.

Ive been selling mounts at 150k - mainly lesser dewbacks
They are worth this in my opinion, calculate time spent finding them plus time spent training them.
bare in mind each servers economy differs so its hard to compare selling prices accross servers.
Just to give you an idea, a BE on Tempest started a post about a month ago offering CL10 be pets. The customer can chose the type, color, and abilities the pet will have. The customer receives a full grown, trained pet all for the low, low cost of 1 million credits. I thought the pricing was high...but you should see the number of orders he/she has received.
I started a post today to see what kind of price a CL10 mount would fetch, allowing the buyer to select the abilities. I posted 2 full grownLowland Brackasets and Cupa's. I figured I'd ask for 800k each and see what happens. So far, I haven't had any takers, but it's only been a few hours. I'll let you know how I make out. I expect that I'll have to drop the price, but we'll see.

Actually I was about to say you are too cheap
I will sell wild L10 mounts for 300-400k, depending on rarity (dewbacks might be even more expensive, since I haven't found a single spawn of these in 6 hours searching).
That will include 4 trained abilities though.
Anyone saying that is too expensive ... great, that is their opinion.
It still won't get them a mount from me, though
I have been a crafter in DAoC for 2 years, and for a year in SWG.
Complaints about prices are what you have to live with ... you can tell you found the right price when the number of people telling you you are ripping them off is equal to the number of people telling you you are price dumping
WAAAAAAY too cheap.
I always looked at it as a way of 'what goes around, comes around.' what do I mean by that? I went out and trained a pet for a MD, free of charge. (I still remember you Kandy!!!!) What I got in return was a person that often would come to me and buff me when needed, she also did give me 40,000 cred anyway. Credits? I got all the credits I needed from harvesting organics. What is the value of pixels? To each person they will have their own value on any given thing, in game and real life. The HOPE DIAMOND, for instance, the largest diamond in the world, do you know what it is worth to me? It is a bloody rock, it has little value. People value things for different reasons, to say a person is charging too much or too little is subjective, especially in a setting as such as SWG. If he wants to charge 10 credits for a pet, let him. If other people are screaming, let them. Just tell them to 'Bugger off." The GAME is meant to be enjoyed, it NOT meant to be ECONOMICS 101. If someone does want to look at it as ECONOMICS 101, let them, but be your own person and enjoy yourself.
