Just a question to those for the changes...
Have you ever played EverQuest2?
This is what we are going towards. I have spent time waiting, waiting for a group for over an hour in both early release SWG AND EQ2, only to have them break apart moments later. Forced grouping is NOT a good thing. Encouragement to group is.
In EQ2 you had to get a full group together to do a mission that only benifited yourself, they had missions that were the same. Getting a full group to acomplish everyones tasks is near immpossible.
Having to get a full group for anything is required in that game.
A Hate System that makes it very difficult to hold aggro with a tank without getting the squishies killed.
These are the things we are so concerned about. Many of the changes are very much welcome. Less dependance on Doc Buffs, Bone Armor that isnt worthless, and much more.
However we are wanting to make sure this game does NOT become EQ2.
Also note, MMORPG. Massive Multiplayer.... this means that there are alot of players around to interact with, nowhere in that do I see, "sit around on your ass waiting for 20 players to get in your group so you can get a mission done that only benifts yourself."
There are no single player games like these, this is a free form enviroment that is ever changing, setup like an entire universe where we make the choices of what path we want to take each day.
Here a single person can decide, if today they wish to...
...get a full group together, and raid places like the Death Watch Bunker, They Can.
...Go out with your favorite pet, and explore a unknown part of a world, They Can.
...sit in a cantina, creating music or dance while interacting with restful players, They Can.
...try and craft the perfect item, or search for an elusive new resource, They Can.
We do not even know how solo/light groups will be effected. I personally do not think it will be as bad as EQ2, however without vocalization from players like us, the DEVs might just try to incorporate it into SWG thinking its a "good idea", like for example, Snappy Movement.
