Think about this what if the groupings shift like resources across planets and animals, and that the disarities we are seeing are due to different servers being at diff stages of shift.

I agree with Joker there might be other groupings. (I also think it is possible that creatures might still have two special slots, with these groupings taking up one slot.)
These were the obvious ones from the data we have seen, but finding others would not surprise me, especially as more high-end creatures are tamed.
Very interesting observation. Sounds plausabe to me.
Hmm
I made over 200 tames this weekend on the mobs that have 2 confirmed L3 specials. I did this because many of the confirmed L3 specuals only have 2 per mob. this includes Bolle Bol Stompers, Ancient Reptillian fliers, Rhow Kwi, Kamuriths, Bloodseeker mitesetc.
In no case in that many tames did I find a third special on these, but made several confirmations of the 2 that people have found. Now some mobs have been confirmed with 3 L3 specials but many have not,
I think we are either looking at
1) many more groupings. My data shows there must be more
2) Some of teh groupings may be pairs and not threes
3) Ther ewas no true groupings involved in how they were assigned and the devs just assigned specials based on the mob and we are just assuming grouings because we are seeing an unintended pattern

This is something that occurred to me too. If specials shift, there are going to be some very upset people.

What might help is a list of high-level creatures that are known to have babies, but have not been reported to have any specials yet.

Okay, I have resorted the compiled list of Scooter's info and adding in SWG Creatures' data to plug some holes. While I consider most of the data accurate from both lists, please keep in mind that without counts on frequency, there may be some mistakes due to simple human error. That is why I have included a frequency count beside each special if anyone else wants to track these.
The Excel version has nice color coding, the text one is for the paranoid:

Scooter, I'll PM you my info in case you want it in an easily accessible spot. It is Starsider.Lantyssa for anyone that wants to send me mail for some odd reason.

I think the problematic area is there are too many holes at present and several examples where the holes did not come out how we thought.
I'll let people have a chance to look over the combined data lists before commenting on them myself. I do agree we need to plug those holes, whether with specials we expect or ones we don't.
I am inclined to believe that there are no third level specials for the state attacks. (Bleed, Eye Gouge, Feint, Intimidate, Knockdown, or Staggering.) With the exception of the Choku Pup for Feint and an Intimidate for the Young Reptilian Flier, these show up in no lists whatsoever.
[For those looking at the Excel file, you may want to sort each section based on the specials instead of alphabetically. That can help you see certain trends. To do so, select the full row on the left then go to "Data->Sort".]

As a start I'm simply looking to fill in any of the holes on the spreadsheet and confirmation of any specials that seem to violate the grouping patterns from the begining of this thread. If anyone has ideas for a more organized or detailed study, I'm happy to contribute as I can.

The giant Pharple was listed as Intimidating Attack L2, using the new Excel file with the color coding. It had it listed as speculative, I just tamed a regular Pharple which is not even in that list and it does have Intim L2
Add confirmation Juvenile Langlatch does have panicked rage L1

I have a quick key in the file but more on methodology:
Specials:
- Black are obtained from Scooter's list.
- Blue are from SWG Creatures.
- Green are ones I have personally observed, with the info in front of me, not from memory.
- Orange are confirmations using ravingbantha's Pet Specials thread after Scooter's last big post at the time of this posting.
- Yellow is a theorized special, if the pattern holds true.
- Red is from Scooter's list but it does not fit the theorized patterns.
- Pink is from SWG Creatures but does not fit the pattern.
I do not consider any one source more credible than the other. (Well, I of course trust what I see, but if you are not me, my word is just as credible as anyone elses.) Think of the specials listed here as the commonly believed open source special list. The first four colors are simply for distinguishing where I got the information should someone want to know.
I will openly admit I am skeptical of any Red or Pink special. My belief is that these are (mostly) cases of confusing the special's or creature's name for a similar one, or a mistake in transcribing the information from one person to the next. That does not mean I am correct. If these specials can be found on a creature it needs to be confirmed so we can consider what it means when figuring out patterns.
Sightings:
- Green numbers mean I have seen this special at least once.
- Orange numbers are board confirmations.
I tally the number of board confirmations and my own sightings. I don't want to make this too complicated and was originally just going to keep only my own tally, but I am not going to find every special and creature on this list. My word is as good as the next person so it is up to the reader to decide if one color holds more weight than the other. Green takes precedence over Orange simply because I want to look at the list and be able to say to myself, "I have seen this with my own eyes". In the end, the total number of sightings should be more important than color.
If a special is theorized and there is a confirmation, I mark the special orange but do not increase the sighting count. From ravingbantha's master list I took any creature that had a multiple of four sightings and added one to the tally. I felt confident enough with four sightings, while arbitrary, to list as a confirmed board sighting. The intial thread was a flurry of activity. Even though I feel most of it is accurate, I want to minimize errors.
If information I want to use for adding to the data seems questionable, such as marking a female brackaset (CL 64) as level 65 with specials observed in the male brackaset (CL 65), I discount the information. For multiple problems I ignore the entire post.
