I like the idea of some new commands, but maybe some other commands need to be redone.

  • Protect: Fight to the death to defend the CH will use ranged and special attacks. Able to Protect targets like players or Faction bases.

  • Guard: Pet should stand close to thehandlerand let the MOB come to them.

  • Rescue: Useful for Doctors, CM's, and Medics. Pet runs into dangerous situations to drag a player to the handler (maybe 64M range). Having a Master Doctor as well, I know how valuable this would be. As Master Doctor I can drag a player from 30M away.

  • Retrieve: Pet will drag MOB kills back to the handler for harvesting.

  • Hunt: Pet will attack targeted MOB.When MOB is killed, pet will attack closest of the same MOB type. Pet will not move more than 64M from the handler.

all of these posts and yet nothing will ever get done. makes one wonder why even bother to post at all? i was working towards MCH and i have stopped i figured what the hell the profession is stupid now. i am joining everyone else in the SWG world and doing the holocrons. where has all the fun in the game gone? i will master CH one day for i am scared if i dump it all it will be the one profession i needed to get jedi. but still i agree with what everyone here as been bitching about. it is stupid. i liked having pets and being able to take on missions alone. i am not online a ton so i do not have alot of friends. and everytime i do get with a group it takes like 30mins to get everyone together, and once everyone is together you do like one mission then poof! the group is disbanned and everyone is off doing something else.

my next thing is do the devs even read this stuff? or do they even play the game? and on that note. it seems like everytime they go to patch/nerf something they say it is from everyone bitching about the profession or whatnot. could someone send me the links to where everyone was bitching about the CH? all i saw was everyone bitching about the CH nerf granted i know it needed some fixing but to destory it is crazy!

i read all of this post and the thing i agree with the most is. i think they should make it to where you can have some sort of armor for your pets now. make it like clothing for anyone else make it wear and tear. then we could get our pets and then we could use them and do solo missions again. and i agree with the rancor thing. they are just too **edit** cool to be a puppy dog what gives? but anyway give us something to do with this class make it fun again.

there is alot to bitch about but most of it has been covered and i don't want to go down the same path AGAIN! cause it is alot of wasted breath or keystrokes

i was 3-3-1-3 and i have 115k of xp i am scared to death to lvl up. cause it is so freakin hard now. i agree about the stupid xp nerf but again i understand it. they don't want people standing outside the towns doing the afk xp grind with low lvl creatures. but again i can use kinda high lvl creatures but i still get assxp so that again is anotherreason i gave it up for now.

What an outstanding report! In terms of both content, insight into the class and writing style, this report is outstanding. It is unbelievable how dead-on accurate this report is.

My only very small complaint is the level 10 non-CH issue. The BE on my server are making 10k HAM 49% resist all pets at level 10 with poison and dizzy. They are likeuber bile-drenched quenchers which are 34 in the wild. By my estimation, these pets are equivilant to ahigh 30s/low40s pet. Something needs to be done about those. This is definately an issue we should be screaming about.

Granted, I'm not an old time Creature Handler, so I don't necessarily understand every issue with the same level of emotion some of you have, but I thought Vertexon's post was fantasic!

The only thing I didn't see mention of (maybe I just missed it) that I've encountered in my own CH journey is the imbalance in taming. My CH is only at 2-3-2-2, so maybe I'm lacking a bit in knowledge and wisdom, but from what I've seen, taming any baby yields from 100 CH XP at minimum to 150-160 for the hardest ones I've seen so far. Likewise, training results in 100 CH XP at minumum to 130-140 at most from what I've seen.

The problem is that since at my level, taming low level babies is something I can often do on the first attempt and the high level babies often take several tries (and will often try to kill me sometime in the process). In addition, training takes several tries on the harder creatures. Therefore, the only incentive I have to tame/train high level creatures is if I want it as a pet for myself. For experience sake, I can just hang out on a starter planet near the newbie areas and grind tame/train/release babies there for experience (if grinding xp were my thing), or if I'm really lazy and have money to burn, buy/train BE pets. As a CH moves up in skill, it seems silly that he/she should still get experience off of lower level creatures. In addition, while high level creatures should be harder to tame/train, there should be a larger experience reward (even moreso with aggro creatures). As-is, the current system just seems very broken and unrealistic to me.

My only other "why the heck does it work this way?" newbie observation is why do all pets tamable in the wild have identical stats (for example, all dewbacks having identical stats)? This seems unrealistic most importantly, but also it seems to me if creatures tamed in the wild had different stats, it would result in better balance with Bio-Engineers. It would also result in more incentive for Creature Handlers to go exploring and try taming something that could potentially be better.

Overall, I think Creature Handlers still have it pretty good overall compared to some professions. I think there is definitely room for improvement though of course!

once again, you've failed to mention in the "wishlist" section that some creature handlers are frustrated by the inability to determine a creature's level before taming it.

Vertexon,

the LEAST you could do is acknowledge that SOME people are frustrated by this even if YOU don't agree with it.

Excellent post, I agree with everything stated as well as many of the responses in this thread. We've been bludgeoned with the nerf bat time after time to the point of almost extinction. Now we're upset, fed up, and many are leaving, not just the profession but the game entirely. Time to start giving us some positive attention for once: some fixes to bugs that have existed for months, something new to keep us happy and playing this game, anything other than the constant changes we have endured.

One person here said it right, we're probably going to be ignored for a while as they focus on everybody else to appease the increased rumblings in the professions that have been broken from the beginning. I still hold out hope that this SotP report will get the proper attention and we are heard (for once).

Let me add my few words in hear.

1) The first big complaint was MCH is too powerful. First that was not true, no MCH was too powerful if they did not have a good high level combat skill to go with it. As of the Dec. patch MCH has not just been reduced we are in obscurity. Animals that we used to do with ease and con as a blue dot are now doing a ton of damage to pets that would previously eat them alive. No MCH has ever been able to compare to a BH skill for skill. With the nerfing of all of our pets we are now more of a joke than anything else. Again, as previously explained over and over ad nauseum, as a wookie, we are like the most vunerable species in the galaxie and the only way we could actually do PVE was with a pet. Not anymore. I have played since the end of June and am now more totally frustrated with this game and this profession than ever before.

2) The second complaint was "MCH can solo". Garbage as stated previously without a good combat skill you didn't solo diddly. If you relied on your pets you had to spend your time healing them continously. My biggest complaint is I am not a mega gamer, when I came on I could go with one person or not and continue to pursue my goals. I don't like going in a huge crowd because there is no way to control a group of people. I wanted to get Krayt pearls for my friends and scales and I could if I was very careful, now only Imperials with an AT-ST are harvesting Krayts, which means that the balance of power has shifted even further into their camp. There is no pet I have that lasts more than 20 seconds with a Krayt but an AT can tank a krayt while the owner sits back and burns them etc. Oh and no pet I had could come close to taking out an AT by itself. In a large group I have yet to receive one pearl or one scale because they always nope didn't get nothing. How do I know that? I hunted with one group and this guy kept saying nope nothing then I go to his house and he is busy dropping scales and pearls by the armful. So maybe fix the loot problem.

So my problem is, I hunt in a group, me, a friend and my pets, or more if they are trust worthy to share the loot, so maybe you could put on the animal what was looted off of it or what was or is available to loot. Oh and that would be a great help when you go to attack something as big as a Krayt dragon. Nothing is more frustrating than to attack an animal and kill 4 or 5 and nothing is dropped.

3) The game was fine before you nerfed Jinda's on Endor, Khamuriths on Dath and all the other high paying missions. We got good XP and good money for taking the risks we took to do the missions. Evening out the CH boxes was a good idea that in itself made MCH's more valuable. Oh and that money we can't get anymore would be helpful in paying the outrageous prices we have to now for pet stims and Krayt pearls, scales and those other things.

4) Biggest hassle, and how many MCH's have heard this in the last 3 weeks; "Could you group with me so I can get higher missions? Thanks. Bye." We should be an addendum by every mission terminal.

5) CH MISSION TERMINAL AWESOME IDEA! oh and only CH's can use it.

6) Bio pets vs Wild pets. Sigh I don't know. I wish I could tame a Krayt dragon. LOL here's an idea how about have Krayts spawn twice a day in major cities on Tatooine. now that would be cool. Or I have another idea, say I have a Bio Kimogilia or even a tamed merek battlelord and I want to release it and I am on talus. When it is released it just doesn't disappear it is released into that ecosystem, can't neccesarily make a lair unless left undisturbed for a certain length of time, but it would initiate a BH mission. Would that be cool?

Finally as was stated in the opening address unless some radical changes are made to CH it will be gone. I think the developers had this in mind from the very start. CH is a dying profession and when they kill off CH they may as well stick a knife in the wookies as well. For God's sake let us wear armor. Man I saw a guy take three massive hits from a krayt yesterday wearing armor and buffed i am sure and he survived, I was buffed WHAM incapped. GIVE US SOME ARMOR!!!!

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.

Very nice work Vertexon and others. As always, this board impresses me with the level of interest and the passion shown by so many of you.

I would like to be less tactful than Vertexon in saying that we want our tanks back and we want them now! Make the Frenzied Graul, Merek Harvesters & Death's Heads, Mantrigue Screechers, and the Bark Mite Burrowers & Queens spawn babies! Get it through your Dev skulls that we are mad as hell and want this addressed yesterday if not sooner.

I am so sick of seeing TK's destroy lairs/camps that I cannot touch with my pets, and seeing the poorly conceived super-BE pets doing what nothing I have tamed can do that it sickens me.

We deserve to have our place as PvE tank providers restored.

OH ONE LAST COMMENT

THE DEVS DON'T GIVE A FLYING FIG ABOUT US.

THEY READ THE POSTS: NOT BLOODY LIKELY! DO THEY CARE? NOT BLOODY LIKELY!

They got out there big friggin nerf knife outand it is dripping with CH blood. Their ideas suck, their implementation sucks, they are friggin laughing all the way to the bank. I just watched a TKA take out a bloody Toxic Merek BattleLord lair in one minute and 30 seconds flat. GONEhe didn't even need to stop and heal himself. This is friggin ridiculous. My rancor is a joke, the whole friggin CH profession is a joke.

They want us to all be freakin crafters. And if I can't say it some where else I will say it here. HOLOS ARE A FREAKIN JOKE FOR FINDING JEDI AND CRAFTING MY WAY TO JEDI HEAVEN IS A FREAKIN JOKE!!

Why not do it like this like in the movies, it's by choice. Make a mission like the RIS armor mission, then everytime you do a sub mission like the Krayt skull mission your decision determines whether you become a dark Jedi or a Light Jedi. Why the frig should i have to do Master Architect to unlock FS slot?? IT IS A FREAKIN JOKE!!

SO DEVS WHY DON'T YOU JUST ANNOUNCE: CREATURE HANDLER IS GOING TO BE NERFED ALONG WITH WOOKIES, ALL CLIENTS WILL BE GIVEN THEIR CHOICE OF HUMAN OR TWILEK AND THEIR CHOICE OF WHICH CRAFTING SKILL THEY WANT.

Might as well you are doing it to us anyway.

AM I PISSED, YES I SPENT 6 MONTHS IN THIS GAME TO BE SCREWED BY SOME COMPUTER PROGRAMMING DWEEB THAT DOESN"T GIVE A RATS ASS ABOUT THE FREAKIN GAME!

Before the end of the month I will decide if I am going to chuck the whole game or just the profession. QUIT SCREWING US OVER!!

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, Prepatch BioE pets register as CL0 in dpad. Once they are called the correct CL is given, but if a person calls a CL60 they can then call a CL50 gurreck to go alongside it.

All prepatch BioE Pet deeds have this problem
