Thread: Pub 21 means Master CH = newbie!

I smell BEs at work in this thread not real CHs. Who else would be against us getting 8 special move slots. A boatload of inate abilities, and the ability to actually tame and use more exotic creatures. Who else would be against multiple pets actually being useful. Well the guy that has you by the choke chain. The dumb this is that none of this removes good BE pets as being worth buying. Infact it only helps. If CH is more fun and more skill based then more people will play CH.
Most of us are not unhappy with the new system, at least from a long-term perspective. For a new Handler, this system is wonderful as they will naturally learn specials as they level. From the standpoint of versatility, it is better.
However, for some of us, this is a step backwards, at least initially. We have to re-level everything. Some of us already had perfectly working and carefully selected combinations of specials. I had no trouble using those specials under the old system.
Now my pets and I will have no specials. My pets are better off replaced by a new tame with the 'free' special. Pets that make me feel sad about even considering replacing them.
To some of us pets are more than just a disposable weapon and we are asking for recognition of that. That is why some of us are unhappy.
Unless I missed something, if I JUST use my pets currently in my datapad, I get nothing, didily, squat, NOTHING! I have totame new creatures togrind THEMand learn specials from them so I can use the current pets in my datapad and grind them and teach specials and basicly level them up again! Now how is this a good thing? How is this not going back to being a newbie? I'm not giving up CH, I'm not going to cancel my account over this, but I am going to complain!

if you dont regularly use your pets in combat then you dont have to worry about leveling them up as you dont use them now, so what difference does their level make?
This post nails it. Without this new "upgrade" pets have no specials at all. If you actually use the pets in your datapad the pets become better, not worse. This upgrade is actually a good thing.
The underlying tone of this post nails it as well, even if it was unintentional. If you use your pets in combat, after publish 21 it will still be business as usual. What does this mean? It means the pet AI is still broken. Your pet will have the ability to learn new commands but you still must spam commands 3 or 4 times. Your pet is still a giant aggro creator and you're still the aggro magnet. Pets are still single minded killing machines that won't follow commands when told to attack a target. And, groups are still not going to want a CH to join them because of the broken AI and the fact that pets take up group slots.
Business as usual.
one new pet, just one. i cant imagine having 20 pets i cant bear to part with, and even more so finding a way to use all 20 pets in combat.
all you have to do is find a wild baby version of a pet you already have, release your current pet, and tame the new one. rename the new one to your old one's name and pretend it never happened. you dont even have to wait for it to grow before you can use it in combat, instant replacement + possible innate ability.
but if you dont want to do that you can just ignore publish 21 and play with your pre21 pets just like it is now, which i dont have a huge problem with cause this is the only pet system i've ever known.
oh well, its not my job to try to make people happy with SWG, i'll let the people at SOE do that... ![]()
change != improvement
All we wanted was to fix what they broke, and instead they said we have to earn it back with their same solution to everything -- grind grind grind, so you'll keep paying the fees.
Bad solution to a problem of their making, not ours. I can't say I expected better, but certainly we all hoped for better.

This is one of the reasons I dont join guilds anymore. I mean no one seems to get it or at least has not figured it out yet. IT DONT MATTER!!!! I am a MCH Since the game started OK well not started it took me a few months to lvl up. But still I mean how many posts do you guys have to read about every profession before you realize IT DONT MATTER!!! What you think that after 21 all is going to be cool? You think that after 21 there wont be bugs? You think that submitting polls is going to do anything? I mean seriously when I read about this game before it came out it said "Make your toon the way you want it" Not make it the way you want it and then we will force you to change it. Think of the Jedi system. Before this game got started I guess no one read what it was going to take to be one. It was supposed to be a system where if you saw a Jedi it was a special thing. Not Jedi running all over the place. So then what happens? They change it and bend over all the people who were luckly enough to get Jedi. They were saying only certain races would have an easier chance of getting Jedi and not telling anyone which ones, so everyone started crying and they changed it. Then everyone and there mom gets Jedi so they change it. Please just stop already. I have pets just like the rest of you and Im sure after this update it will be the same garbage with the next update. Dont you people get it already, I mean please just stop its so sad to see so many peope have no figured out that this is system is broke and will never be fixxed. This whole thing started when people started crying about the game being unfair, some professions were stronger then others. Thats the way the game is. I mean did you come into this game thinking that a COOK or a Tailor was going to be able to beat you up? NO you would never have expected that. But you know what it can happen now. And its just a shame. The game was not broke at the start with the professions but they tried to fix it anyway for all the cry babies. They should have let them cancel their accounts and just fixed the real stuff that was broken like missing houses and stuff. Tweeked the professions? Yes but not this whole massive change stuff. Ok so lets see. Who wants to take bets on what the next problem will be? Missing Boots?

It makes a point. It's just hard to follow because it's basically one disjointed rambling paragraph.
It's basically saying to stop getting so worked up over things because, no matter what, the patch is going to be buggy, the existing bugs will still be there, and expect more things to be broken in the future.
In a nutshell anyway. ![]()
I smell BEs at work in this thread not real CHs. Who else would be against us getting 8 special move slots. One word: wrong.
Never been a BE, although I greatly sympathize with them for being dumbed-down along with the rest of genericized crafting in this game.
Multiple pets with multiple skills? We always could have had that in the old system if they'd actually spent some time fixing it. You haven't described a single thing in this systm that is actually new, you're just taking it on blind faith that it will be less buggy and better maintained than the old system ... and frankly there are grandmas in Georgia handing all their money over to televangelists who have more logical reason for their faith than you have for yours .... CH would be more fun if the system they had, whatever system it was, was actually FIXED so it worked as designed. Since they never bothered to do that with the old system, you can't even rationally attack the old system.
"The old buggy system didn't work" is the worst thing you can say about it. Well, what a revelation, it didn't work when it was broken and they ignored it! What makes you think the new system will be in any way different?
motion =! progress
change =! improvement
You're being distracted by shiny lights and a sales pitch, but the bottom line is that without a fundamental re-evaluation of their code development practices, you are committing to a huge grind for a system that is just as dysfunctional as the last one. They could have spent the last year improving the old system slowly and steadily so we'd have a FAR better product today. They didn't, yet somehow you think this New & Improved Coke is going to be any different than the old Coke ... when only the colors on the can have changed.
