Thread: A summation of great CH ideas (long) Version 1.0
On the creature Ranches or storing in houses for retiring I would like to suggest this.
It would be great if we could simply store directly from the datapad to our house. We would drop the pet into our house or drag and drop. Then this pet would immediately appear outside. The pet would treat the house as a nest and simply wonder around it at its leisure. If we want to use the pet again we can go up to the pet and have the pick-up option. The pets would take up space in the house just like an item.
This would allow people to store the BIG pets that simply look rediculous in houses. It would allow CHs to keep their older pets for sentimental reasons and let them go hunting with them again. It would also look just darn cool. Plus this would be great advertisement so that people would know there was a CH around who can tame and train pets.
I feel this should be a CH perk by the way. It would be demeaning if everyone and his mother could simply start putting pets around their houses.
Also if you want to go further to give this functionality for player cities. You could drop the pets and have them actually be able to interact and guard. If they are faction oriented they would attack the opposite faction. If their master is attacked then they would defend that master. I would suggest that to keep it from being exploited that wild animals would avoid these pets just like theyavoid domesticated onesin the real world.
I like that idea of a "PCL", reducing the CL of a certain pet dependant on how much time you spend with it. Actually could be added to Empathy 3 and 4 for a alittle and bigger reduction for master. It would be like a % reduction bonus to a particular pet, working somewhat like stat migration. It would need to be based on time spent with pet,or something that could not be"Macro'd".
Maybe an XP rating for a pets, just like a player gets X amount of xp per kill, with this bonus/lvl. Successful grouped kills could earn your pet xp towards reducing its CL based on your skill lvl of PCL
The bonus could potentially allow one to have out say 2 x CL50 pets at master. Getting a pet Incapped or DB'd would reset its CL to normal though. Trading/selling pet of course would reset it to normal also.
Well since SOE doesn't like the us having anything more than CL70 total, maybe if CL cap was reduced (don't kill me here, just thinking outloud...) to say 50 cap. However a Master who works with their pets and keeps them safe and sound could effectively have a 100 cap by reducing CL of pet by 50%?
This rewards "good playing" in tune with SOE, and punishes folks who want to ram there pets into the dirt. Also adds more depth and frankly makes CHing alittle harder, but with a nice reward.
Overall I think this idea was some very good thinking. Well thought Azeiron ![]()
Great ideas grimey, thanks for your post.
By the way, for those who are following this post, I post seemingly random links for really my own referenece because I am going to regularly recompile this for a 'clean' and easy to read version for ideas in the CH class. Such as this one:

Thanks sooooo much Shadowtalker. I was hoping someone would do one of these threads (this is what we really needed). I think Shadowtalker should be the brand new Proffession Correspondent
I liked everything in here, just about everything anyways. I'm doing whatever I can to support this thread. Great work!

^ In respons to that, I would only agree with that if creature handlers had an ALTERNATIVE way of storing pets, such listed in this thread such as the "creature corral (pet/zoo)" storage idea. Creature Handlers need more ways to store pets, as well as MORE pets.
I would definately like to see the CH take a more "Tamagotchi" approach.
Creatures that need to be fed, can get sick if overfed (or eats too many BE made pet treats) and need to be cured by BE's would be great.
My sister started up her old tamagotci again yesterday and I was surprised how much fun she still had with it, and it was all programed into a tiny hand held device. SWG could support soo much more.
If pets were something you had to work to maintain and had fun with along the way, you would not see soo many "meat shield" pets out there I guarentee it.
I have to agree with master scout should be a pre req to CH (making master ranger a prereq is way to much...). this would make ppl really consider becoming one.. I also believe as you lvl in ranger and gain more knowledge bout critters you should gain more cl pts. I have found that CH and ranger work very well together if for any reason the mask scent bonus while tame agros...
And as for the BE/CH relationship i think its about to get a whole lot better as i understand it they are going to beable to lower cl on pets they make... now if they just give em the ability to make all the babies that dissapeared they could be our best friends hehe... till then a cl 30 racor or 2 might be nice.
And one last plee please give us a at home storage for pets before killing our storage lvl hehe pretty please.... with whip cream on top =).
Great post keep up the good work.

Mrhack,
I know that creatures should be more realistic. Could you specifcally elaborate on your tagamochi idea? What specifically needs to be done besides feeding?
I really think that the transfer command should be lowered to novice CH. If the DEVs want the whole profession to not be totally combat oriented then this needs to be done. A novice artisan can sell items from the get go, he doesn't have to go 3 steps up a tree to sell his items. Even with this change a Master CH pet Cu Pa is more valuable to a Non CH because the MCH pet has more trained commands. This will also allow Novice CH's to name pets, which should be allowed IMO. I do not understand why you need to advance past Novice to give your pet a name. In the same Artisan argument, the Novice can also name his wares whatever he wants, with no restrictions.
If the DEVs want to make us a less combat oriented class, they need to give the option to sell pets from the start of the profession, otherwise it is still combat oriented to get to a level to sell these pets. Also like crafters, CH's should get a % of the XP that these sold pets would earn, just like a crafted weapon.
I haven't been reading too many posts lately on CH because it just gets too frustrating for me, so if this is already resolved, my apologies for wasting space.
