In response to the arena/park idea, here is what had occurred to me a while ago (though I didnt post):

Arena structures would definitely add spice to any player city. First I would like to detail some of the features that I think would make for good arenas. These arent critical features for sure, but they would make it more interesting and useful within the context of the game (instead of relying on existing out of game utilities/media).

1) Arena buildings should have a permissions list. There would be an owner who gets to set the permissions list, and then Organizers who can do different functions with the arena. There should be a limit on the organizers per Arena, due to other features discussed further down the line.

2) Arenas should have the ability to change interior venues. This change should only be performable by the owner or a declared Organizer. Some examples that come to mind would be Open Arena (nothing in the pit) andObstacle Arena (think old school Laser Tag places). If you wanted to take it a bit further, having different planetary terrains might be interesting.

3) Arenas should have abettinga registration and betting booth. There would need to be admin functions for the Organizers, so that they could take care of matchups, if it needed tobe.More importantly with this addition, there shouldbeconsideration forextra money floating into the game world (iow it should be minimized or eliminated).

4)Organizers should be able to set up tourneys or leagues. The arena would store some basic information about the progress and rankings of the members of each league or tourney. Conveniently, there should be a set of "scoreboards" that display some of the leaders in these categories.

5) At the expense of the Owner/Organizers, the winners of Tourneys or leagues should be able to receive special trophies that they can place in their homes as a visible display of their achievement. Text on the trophy should be customizeable.

6) Arenas should be able to raise banners to show off the achievements of their winners. Again, customizeable text would be a needed option.

Now, for the requirements. I would imagine that it should require incorporation into a player city to place an Arena. This would keep them a bit more rare, and cut down a little on data storage. They could also be made in increments, with each "level" of arena giving more of the above features. It would seem to me that arenas should be a little higher up on the player city advancement tree as well. Whether they are craftable, or purchaseable through the player city system seems irrelevant.

These are just a few things that come to mind, and I am sure they could be tweaked and improved upon. I am also sure that there could be more features added to the list, and the requirements could be nailed down. Again, little of this couldnt be done in the game as is, with some of the nicer features being accomplished via out-of-game utilities and media. But I would rather have as much of it in game, to truly solidify the gaming experience as something that is *within* the game.

I should note that for the Arenas I was thinking thatthe whole systemcould pertain to either pets *or* toons at the discretion of the organizer.

From the BE forum, I had posted some stuff for BE/CH relationship that might make a bit more sense now, given what BEs will be getting for their Creation From Scratch system...

master CH should have a whistle that they can issue commands with, similar to a dog whistle. Using binds to perform actions would work. It would also reduce the attack attack follow spam.

that would be a good start into another long-time-gamesense: sports ...

dunno if i like the morality idea of that one tho, but its still a great idea

I dont like being punished, and having my pet nerfed because i dont feed it and use the trick command. We have enough burdens already.

well, i gues it would go that way then - but you can still hope for better....

the whole thing isnt ment to punish those that dont do anything for their pets - its ment to reward the others...

Just a few minor ideas i would like to see, to make life easier:

1) Either a macro for training, or else make it so that the training commands on the radial menu get marked somehow ( a *, or darker colour ) when a command has already been trained.

2) A lead / leash. You could apply the lead, and they would follow you more closely, but not be able to attack until unleashed. This would make travel easier, specially in cities.

Thanks for the encoragement vex.

Also more great ideas. I'll probably recomplile this in about a week and recycle it.

Our ideas are important, and when devs want to have new ways to make our class interesting I really think the forums is one of the first places they look.

"1) Either a macro for training, or else make it so that the training commands on the radial menu get marked somehow ( a *, or darker colour ) when a command has already been trained."

I totally forgot about that! Even though I dont really need it for grinding as much anymore ... a command for training, such as /traincommand -command is fundamental in saving people's mouse hands. And the radial display of trained commands would be great.
