Thread: Why is CH a non-combat profession?
One more datapoint for you. When I was Master CH and Master Merchant my CL was 54. That was not from the Merchant
After the GWVS publish I dropped most of merchant as a real waste of SP.
Now for some good (heh heh) news. Between now and mid/end aug we will have 3, count them 3 new publishes. Its in the login info about the 2nd annaversry gifts and how we have to claim them before publish 22 is released.

It gives the full 54 CL like every other combat profession, and we get full Battle Armor mitigation at Master.
HA! What good does Battle Armor Mitigation do us? If your a CH wearing armor, it's because your also taking a class that gives you the option to wear armor.
Umm... it allows us to wear Advanced Battle Armor with no penalties to rate of fire, movement rate, or weapon accuracy. I'd say that's useful, considering the possible stat range of battle armor. Would you prefer to be unarmored given the choice? I'm not sure I understand your complaint.
Am i missing something here? Since the cu none of my chars have worn armour, i tried it once and saw little or no difference, its not like the old days with huge buffs and decent comp armour. The tk in my alt rarley gets hit with cob and huge defence and has 1300 per hit stim d's, me with my doc stay buffed and have the same stims, plus all the other heals....besides i dont look as good in armour
I read every dev thread, in our profession or not. I have never seen a thread in which they claimed CH was not a combat profession (although plenty where Thunderheart said incorrect or baffling things). Until I can be shown otherwise (have you looked in the archives?), I stand by what I said.

Dont feel like looking thru 6 to 8 months of old TH posts, but just to refresh your memory YES it was stated that they did not consider the class a combat profession
Um... no. I don't know where this whole "CH isn't a combat prof" business came from, but for the last time:
Creature Handler is a Combat Profession
If there is any doubt, please refer to the following link:
Combat Upgrade Combat Profession Diagram
Every profession on that diagram is considered a combat profession. You will note that Creature Handler appears just below the "Tanking" triangle, right along with Squad Leader.
Creature Handler may not be the same type of combat profession as, say, Rifleman or Fencer, but it is most definitely a combat profession, and you get CL and a full armor mitigation cert for it. Currently we're more of a support-oriented combat profession, but with pet fixes that could be improved dramatically. Nevertheless, we are a still combat profession.
It has never been stated to my knowledge anywhere by a developer that CH is not a combat profession. I have never read anything to that effect anywhere since I started playing, and if I had I would have laughed it out of the building. How can a profession centered around use of creature pets in combat not be considered a combat profession?

Yep, your missing the fact that TK gets a kind of "built in armor" and dosn't get any abbility to wear armor because of that. So TK is not supposed to wear armor because they have an abbility that replaces it.

ok ... how about this ... if CH is a combat profession (now I mean actually and not just in title) then in PvP a Master CH/Master Rifleman should be able toduke it outas a equalwith a Master BH/Master Rifleman?

Yes, they SHOULD, but due to misguided nerfs and little attention to us in regards to anything we've been saying for months, we can't. Just because the developers don't do something doesn't mean it shouldn't be done.
I think what this games problem is, is in ever other MMO that is level based.. err every MMO... There isnt free for all PVP, it is in rooms and arenas and stuff that you fight along with people of your level, tis way you have a chance and you dont have to wait to be a master this and that to pvp... Galaxies ISNT MADE FOR THE LEVEL SYSTEM NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT!! AND if they decide to change it so it does, they are only going to ruin the original game more cause that is what made Galaxies so great.. its uniqeness and deep playablility which is also gone cause you can't hunt anywhere anymore.. places like fort tusken are pointless now and places like geo lab are a death wish.
GOD I can't waIt for my account to end... I am tired of poor state of this game and the grave it is digging for itself..

But, if CH is a combat profession and Doctor is a combat profession then why does the SWG Calculator say my max CL will be 57 if I have:
Master CH/Master Doc/BE0004
Perhaps, I'm misunderstanding how this works?
i would love to see you take out a CL80 mob with that template.
