ive had this bug, if i store and then recall my pet it usually resets

anything religious or of a pop culter nature is considered unsuitable name material for a pet....hech I couldn't name a Cu pa Pa... go figure....

try variation spellings of the name that usualy works

The only time I ever had trouble was after I named the creature one thing and the person wanted it named differently. It would not take until the day after. Strange.

Yah, strange thing I couldn't use the name lifeguard ... the filter is kinda strange.

I've tried simple names on it and they haven't worked, but I got a pet after that and it let me name it. so I'm guessing this must be a problem withthe beetle maybe. anyway thank for the replies.

Make sure there isn't a PC in the game named Angel. It might not let you name pets after people.

I've made a couple of Adv. R3 Droids in the last few days. One of them I named with no problem. The other I gave to my alt, who is not (obviously) a droid engineer. No matter what my alt does in terms of programming the droid, she can't manage to get it to "eat" its name.

In programming, the ? appears and then the !, but not ? related to its name at all.

I guess I'm doling something wrong, but for the life of me I don't know what it is.

Is there a droid naming bug now? Or am I trying to get it to "eat" a name that's not allowed? (The name I was using was "Doc" -- no quotes -- because my alt is a Master Doc and because my RL bird's name is Doc.)

I'm a new Master DE, and I want to be able to answer a question like this from my customers (assuming I have any) should the question come up.

There shouldn't be any problems with naming your droid Doc.

I've heard of some instances when a droid dont accept a name, like if it containes numbers or is to long.

Doc should be doable. Also you need to teach it 4 commands using the name first. Also keep the command to one word. Like "Doc come"

If this still dont work, I dont know whats wrong.

I just tried "Doc" on a probot and it didn't take. It might not be allowed by the filter for some reason.

Thanks to everyone who answered. The filter apparently was the problem -- my droid took "Charlie" just fine. Oh well.
