I was wondering. Like Master Scout you know the all the creature knowledge for any pet up to thier CH level. Why can't a Master CH be able to know what the creature level is also? We have to always see if we can tame or not. Not a choice of it's level 50 or a 45. I find it a pain sometimes having to catch a creature and have a Bounty Hunter with me so he can tell me what level it is. I'm not asking to know all it's strengths and weakness' but just the creature level. Does any creature handlers agree on this?
hmmm, that's a good question...
Send Vertexon a PM and ask him to add it to the current list of topissues.

If you want to see creature levels of critters in the wild, become a master scout.
End of discussion.
End of discussion.
End of discussion my arse....this is a good and legitamate gripe. What kinda of Ch are you without knowing something about the animals you tame? Thats just stupid...end of discussion...whatever.

No. End of discussion.
This was designed this way for a reason. Seeing CL of creatures in the wild is a master scout skill.
Similarly, seeing special attacksof creatures in the wild is a Ranger skill. If you want that skil, gather the XP for it and spend the SP to get it.
I'm MASTER, give me Master-type abilities.
Don't make me tame everything just to see the level of it
But ya, it ain't gonna change
I have to agree that CH should get some Creature Knowledge skill.
Rangers are all about knowing how to get around in the wild safely, finding resources and knowing how to use the surroundings to survive. Of course this does include knowing about creatures and how they will react to your presence in their home. Rangers are about finding sign, tracking/finding animals, and also how to hide from them, and harvest the resources from them to survive in the wild.
However, CH should have even more creature behavior knowledge than even a good Ranger, when it comes to specific BEHAVIORS. By that I mean how they interact with themselves, and what sorts of specific attacks and tactics an animal has.No one is asking for creature harvesting here, it's creature knowledge. No one is asking for increased ability to hide from them, but creature knowledge. No one is asking for better ways in our proffession to move around and find them, but more knowlege about what that creature really is. This should be a skill mod in the Empathy line, and it should equal or even exceed the amount of creature info a Ranger gets, in my opinion.
Look at the info a BE can glean from a sample now. They get there knowledge directly from the genetics of the animal and they learn CL, specials all of it with just Novice BE and one quick test of the blood. I agree they should. It makes sense that this specific knowledge be available right from the genetics. They don't have to be a Ranger or spend points in it to gain this knowledge, and again, they shouldn't have to, it's their job.
But why do CH not get this info? Because I didn't spend ap to buy another prof? After all are CH not in the proffession most closely related to knowing the specifics of animals? Creature knowledge is our job, our way of life, that's why we're scout based not medic, entertainer (though I do feel like a circus act some of the time) or any other prof.
I agree this will never get changed, it's just not that important an issue with all the other things that need to get done to make the game work. But, the argument is still valid and there is definitely room for discussion on this point.

Creature Handlers deal with breaking creatures of their natural habits from a young age - basically animal psychiatrists. Knowing how a domesticated creature is going to behave does not impart any knowledge of its wild behaviors or its "level".
If you want to claim that you're out there examining creatures, watching their natural behavior and interacting with them often, then you are being a scout, not a creature handler. Take scout skills. I can go around shooting a CDEF all day, but if I choose not to take the skills, I shouldn't get the benefits of a master pistoleer either. It's the exact same concept.

I would put forward that a Master Creature Handler knows much more about animals than a Master Scout. To become a Creature Handler, one must attain level 4 in Hunting and Exploration, juat as for Master Scout. The additional branches required for Master Scout, Trapping and Survival, don't add much to knowledge about creatures to my mind. At least not as much as the four branches of Creature Handling necessary to become a Master Creature Handler.
Argarell,
You can argue that, and I'll even support it to some extent.
But the fact remains that the design is that master scout gives you this ability, not novice (or any other level) CH, and I believe was done so deliberately to push CHs into taking up more scout and ranger skills.
One good argument has been made to change this state of affairs, and that is that the certificate system introduced in the first major patch (mid August) changed the nature of Challenge Level for CHs...it became the basis of the CH certificate system.
However, I think there are much more pressing problems to steer the devs to, like the pathing/warping problems that can get a CH killed in the middle of a battle.
Just picked up Novice Ranger and Tracking I to help my CH character out with hunting down beasts. At this stage, my Creature Knowledge skill mod has been bumped up 10pts from what it was as a Master Scout, however, I don't really see any new information being displayed about the animals I examine. Am I missing something? Maybe they added just one extra line of info I'm glancing over or does it not kick in until you get higher up the tree, but that makes little sense...
Any help always appreciated
i dont know how far your up the ch profession, but when you hit 100 you cant see more... if you didnt hit the 100 yet, your missing something for sure ![]()
