But seriously, I will agree with you on one thing. If this profession were "unplayable" I don't think ANYONE would be playing it. As far as "crippled" in some areas, we are crippled, in others we are still up to par. I can still go hunting mountains squills with out armor, I can still hunt some big monsters with out buffs. IN PvP I'm a loser so I don't PvP.

Conversely, *this* is a productive post. I'll respond point by point.

1. Fair point. This bug should be fixed.

2. "Should"? According to who? Or is this "what we want"......?

3. Fair point.

4. Fair point.

5. This is minor at best.

6. I happen to enjoy having pets. "coolness" isn't a game mechanic. Move on.

7. Could also be related to pets being more or less aggreesive. Falls under "things to learn and adapt to".

8. Sounds reasonable.

9. Minor issue.

10. I wasn't aware it was *supposed* to be effective in PvP. Weaponsmiths are pretty bad in PvP too.....

10a. Wait for the combat rebalance and see, eh?

11. Why? People who want mounts will buy mounts. People who don't, won't.

12. I like taming. Taming is fun.

13. This would be nice, but it's not an 'issue'.

14. It's part of the game. Pulling just about anything out of the datapad has a delay. If pets didn't have a delay, then people would complain about droids having a delay, and so on. What's wrong with the delay?

15. Whine. Move on.

15a. Conversely, would you be happy with 'ancient rancors' being the badass of combat, if you couldn't tame them? (any answer of 'no' here indicates you just want uberness, and are thus whining)

16. They're not droids, they're creatures. Why should you be able to do 'modular' stuff to your pets?

17. Minor.

18. Tough. Go learn Master Scout.

19. That would be nice. Minor issue.

20. That would be nice too. As a weaponsmith, I would absolutely seek out one of these. But then again, so would *everyone* and it would quickly become passé.

21. Wait for combat balance.

22. Why? So you can put them back on after they fall off every 7 days? They're *creatures* not *things* you can stuff into a computer terminal.

23. Why?

24. That would be nice. Minor issue.

25. Minor issue (at best).

26. not an issue at all, falls under "I want"

27. not an issue at all, falls under "I want"

So, out of 27 points, you have *4* issues that *should* be fixed (numbers 1, 3, 4 and 8).

Of those 4 issues, *none* are game-breaking. *none* of them "cripple" the profession, or make it "unplayable".

I would see issue 3 as your highest priority, everything else is minor.

And for a bunch of non-issues you want to harrass the Devs?

Get over yourselves, seriously......

Pardon me for being objective.

< what you have to say I can find in any tabloid at any grocery store. >

Really? I defy you to find "Creature Handlers are not broken" in any tabloid, in any grocery store.......

< If you are a MCH post December, most of your comments have no relevance since you did notknow what we had before. If you are not a MCH or a CH or anything you have no business posting here at all cause you have no clue.>

Ah. You're one of *those* people......

So, I'm only allowed to make comments if I was a Master Creature Handler prior to December? What an intriguing notion.

Can I make up arbitrary rules for *you* to follow too? It sounds like a fun (though completely STUPID) game to play.......

< So do us all a favor, earn the right to post, go master CH, not TKA, not Swordsman, not rifle along with CH just CH drop everything else.>

And there was me thinking this was the "Creature Handler" forum. My mistake. You should get the Devs to clarify that, and change it to the "Rant-tastic Master Creature Handler Forum".

As an aside, I'm not a TKA or a Swordsman, or a Rifleman. I'm a Weaponsmith with some carbines.

Oh, and some Creature Handler. And am enjoying it immensely.

Wait wait wait wait WAIT......

Just so I'm clear here.

You're saying "go drop ALL combat capability and go fight the biggest baddest creature in the game. With no combat abilities"????

You're aware of how dumb that sounds, right?

I mean, why don't you spend your points on Armoursmith and nothing else, and try the same?

Because it's a dumb idea........

Yes, it would be time to make a lot of noise ... if anyone were listening.

I don't think anyone is. The forums' sole purpose is to give people a place to vent and give the devs a place to occasionally drop some vague marketing-speak on us to try to sell us something. They quite obviously could care less what the average customer thinks, and they care FAR less what CH's think.

The only thing that matters in their offices is "How do we get them to buy lots of pretty JtoL boxes?" Everything else is peripheral now.

Perhaps you should check your definitions. You see, hyperbole means in short, exageration. I'm not exagerating.

No other class has its main tool disappear while in use, putting them in danger. Even though it would not be a threat to you, how would you feel if your crafting station disappeared while you were crafting several times a night, losing your resources, XP, and making you wait to pull it back out again? Now imagine that when it disappeared, you had a good chance of ending up in the cloning center each time. I think you would say that your class was crippled, yes, and virtually unplayable.

Aha, and there's the crux of it. What you are failing to realize, is that Creature Handler for many people IS thier combat profession. You only think its a dumb idea not to take a "combat profession" with it, because you can see how broken it is. *poof*, our pets are gone. The strongest animal we can have, BE or no, can be taken down by any other Master with less skill point usage. Unlike people who take CH because BE'd pets give some bang for a few points, many of us take CH because we rely on our pets being there. We use a lot of skill points, and quite often, can't even use them because they've disappeared.

I suggest you go and try your "if it doesn't work, you're stupid for not taking a skill that does to go with it" argument to the BH boards right about now. They were just told that their profession will still be broken, but they should play one that isn't by the devs. I'm sure you'll get just as glorious a reception there as you did here.

I asked for questions. You provided so now I will do my part and awnser them as much as possible. You will probably find my awnsers unsatisfactory but I'm trying to help you focus here so you can get what you want.

Aakhperkare wrote:

  1. Pets 'poof' back into datapad occasionally. Seems more common in crowded regions, in battle, or right after dismounting a mount

This is not a question, nor is it even a request. A dev cannot "Awnser" something that isn't a question. This is a server load and boundry issue. I'm sure they would love to solve it but its probably pretty much impossible without re-writing the code that underlies the game. See a server has to verify the existance of things and if they arn't there it updates the client. Well if you lose some packets or the like and suddently the server dosn't respond to your client or a server that a pet is there it updates the client and your pet vanishes, or vice versa. Poof the pet, vehicle, item in house, etc goes poof. Get a better network connection, and play on less busy servers and you won't have this problem. Other professions don't have this problem because they don't have pets. Just the way things are.

  1. Many more creatures should spawn babies than currently are. Every creature under CL 70 should have at least a chance of spawning a baby

This is a statement not a question. QUESTION, if you want AWNSERS write QUESTIONS. You want more babies, other professions want stuff too. Big deal. You can't have every creature in the game, who said you were supposed to?

  1. The new Ranged and Special Attack commands do not appear to work. Pet must be at melee range and not in combat for special attack on demand commands to work. Pets never use ranged attacks under any conditions

This is a statement and not a question. Becides, plenty of people have stated that the specials do work for them. They work for me, so does ranged attack. Clearly your going to need to present more information or at least make a statement that is true such as.... "Special attacks and ranged attacks are not working for all CH all the time, are you working on a solution for this currently?" See, that my friend is a question someone can actualy awnser.

  1. Pets that have been trained as Mounts will not follow their master

This is a statement and not a question. If you read the board the dev's are well aware of this. Also, again, my mounts follow me just fine. They tend to stay if my last pet command was stay, and follow if my last command was follow. Remember your experience is not everyones expeirence. Try reading posts from your fellow CH if you hope to represent them with "QUESTIONS"

  1. Ongoing pathing problems (pets start moving very slowly or stop following altogether)

Not a question!!!! I've found that when you feed a pet that is moving slowly he will start moving quickly again. Not sure why but it seems to work consistantly that way. When they stop following its because of server comm issues, see the disapearing pet "non-question"

  1. Profession no longer has a niche in which it is particularly valuable. Melee players provide better tanking and damage-dealing, while Bio-Engineers sell better pets

This is not a question. The "what is our role?" question has been asked innumerable times and has been awnsered by devs and your fellow CH players. So you want to be the best at something? Does everyone have to be the best at something? We have many unique abbilities, and have unique skills in combat. We are the best class for crowd control and MOB manipulation as well as one of the best for tanking without using buffs and armor. The only reason TKM's and Fencers tank so much better than our pets are buffs and armor, which are not a class issue since anyone can wear them.

  1. Some pets run away when they come under attack in battle (more common with some body types than others). May be related to creatures having different ‘ideal attack ranges’ that they constant try to move to.

This is not a question. Try this... "Why is it a pet and its target will appear to chace eachother widely over terrain on some occasions?" You even try to awnser your own question, whats the point in that? Does it realy matter one bit why they do it, so how about this... "Would you consider making changes so that CH pets and MOBs don't chace eachother around as they sometimes do?" That is how you make progress in understanding.

  1. Remove pet vitality loss from factional deaths, to be consistent with normal item decay rules

This is is a command, not a question. Sheesh! Is pet vitatlity such a bit deal? I've been a CH for 8 months now, and my lowest pet vitatlity is 94/100. I fight Kryats, Nightsisters, PVP all kinds of stuff. Becides, if you were watching you may notice this was in the last patch, or at least is supposed to be. Don't waste your time with things that are already awnsered, just find the awnsers.

  1. The /tellpet command sometimes will not work for players. This generally happens in isolated episodes for players, both preceeded and followed by tellpet working perfectly with the exact same pets and commands.

This is a statement. Sheesh, if you want something ask, if you have a question ask, if you just want to make statements you don't need a developer. All kinds of things in this game "sometimes dont work". Why? Because there are 150 thousand people playing it at the same time over a world wide network. Packets are lost and object relationsips get orphaned. Welcome to MMO land.

  1. Creature Handling is not an effective tool at all against a PvP-oriented combat professional. A skilled Creature Handler needs to become more of a threat as part of the Big Combat Rebalance

This is another statement. And the devs have said 10 billion times (exageration) that their goal is to balance all the classes in the combat balance. They know you want to be relavent, because everybody wants to be relavent. Its a no brainer. Why not tell them exactly what you want?

  1. Mounts need to be valuable when compared to vehicles. Current mount advantages are not enough. Suggestions include improved mounted combat, improved mount speed/gallop, improved mount selection (flying mounts?)

This is not a question. Why don't people ride horses? A: Because cars are generaly better! Can a vehicle fight? Do they regenerate on their own? Do they come in 8 verieties? Do they have cute animations? Can you attack from them? The awnser to all these actual questions is - "NO". So mounts have up sides vehicles don't, only one down side realy, they are slower. Duh, what should be faster a Kupa or a Swoop Bike? Get a Savage Humbaba, they Rock!

  1. No perceived advantage to using one’s Taming skills instead of just buying Bio-Engineered pets. Money is easy enough to acquire that "worse but free" does not feel very rewarding to Tamers.

This is not a question. (Seeing a pattern here?) Widen your perceptions! I have lots of non-be pets and I'm a BE for crying out loud. There are a number of specials, and qualities (like flyers), and models (savage humbaba / Turtons) that or wild pet only qualities. The devs have spoken on this issue and have judged against you. Learn to cope or find another profession. When you continue to bring it up after its been decided its just whining, and not going to accomplish anything. If you want to do something along these lines how about this. "Can you please consider adding tameable pets with select COMBAT advantages or parralels to good BE made pets?"

  1. Ability to drop stored pets off either in a regular house or a specialized 'stable' structure

This is not a question, or even a complete sentence. When you gain levels you get extra data storage for pets. Giving you unlimited storage pretty much breaks that class design. How about this... "Are the developers opposed to letting the CH class store pets outside of their databad as a general principle? And if so, what is the reason?"

  1. Pet-calling delay of any length is not needed, as specific examples of 'exploit' behavior haven't been produced. Particularly given the fact that creatures are the only "weapon" that cannot be "equipped" while already in combat

This is an argument, not a question. The dev's don't argue with players so don't even bother trying! And guess what! Every profession now has at least a 5 second delay on their weapons too. Also, pull out a damn camp, sheesh, its not rocket science and not like you don't have the abbility to make them. I keep a crate of them for instant pet calls.

  1. Rancor does not seem as powerful as has been established by Star Wars continuity. Even the weakest rancor should be a high end predator that is feared by players

This is not a question. Look, if the Rancor was all that and a bag of chips, it would be more than CL70 and you wouldn't be able to control it. Are you willing to give them up in order to make them stronger? Star Wars continuity is clearly not in the cards in this game, hell in any game where players dictate most of what happens it won't be in the cards. This whole line of complaing is a monumental waste of your time.

  1. Pets need more variety in desired properties besides just Light Armor and Kinetic Resist. Varied damage types, armor piercing, and creature-unique "droid module" type functionality

This is not a question. You should say "We would like pets with different damage types, armor piercing and unique functionality, any chance of that soon?" Awnser: Some pets do have different damage types (wild pet ranged attacks and specials sometimes do non-kinetic damage). Otherwise, no, we have other priorities at the moment.

CLUE ( devs arn't going to work on CH specificaly for at least another 8 months but might get some love in the combat balance if you know how to ask for things inteligently.) The devs published a schedule of updates, thats what were getting.

  1. Creature Handler "Epic Quest" (similar to RIS armor) with a valuable reward (i.e. unique pet, one-time use "tame adult" ability, etc)

This is not a complete sentence, not to mention not a question. You think no dev has ever thought of this? RIS armor is good for anyone, pets are only good for us. What priority do you thing the devs have for something as difficult to code as a big quest for a single class? Not much. Awnser: fat chance!

  1. Some Creature Handlers feel they should be able to see a wild creature's Difficulty level without buying the Master Scout skill

This is is not a question. Some BE's think they should be able to control any pet they can make. What do you think of that idea? What you think they should take CH? Wacky concept.

  1. Mount wearables/armor such as we have seen concept art for in online developer interviews

This is not a question or a sentence. You want resutls? Put in some effort of your own. This is clearly a very difficult thing to code and model. Awnser: Ain't going to happen any time soon.

  1. Ability to carry items on mounts (using them as 'pack animals' as seen in the films)

This is not a question. (clearly you arn't going to ask a single question in your "questions" thread.) You know, this is probably something they actualy could do without undue difficulty. Find a way to express this desire as a question or request and get the CH rep to make it known.

  1. Multiple wild pets are not nearly as effective as one big one (reverse seems to be the case for BE pets)

This is not a question. This is realy a BE issue as wild pets are more proportional than BE pets by level. Why are three noobs not as good as one leet player? Cause combat just dosn't work that way friend. That said, there are many ocasions where I find multiple wild pets effective, generaly when fighting multiple mobs and I don't want to get hit.

  1. Ability to sell tame CH pets on vendor/bazaar

This is not a question. Its also related to the pet storage issue. Finaly your asking to do what BE's can already do, so basicaly you are asking to be a crafting profession of sorts. Why don't you do BE if you want to sell pets? You can do both you know.

  1. XP rewards to successfully taming/training do not scale appropriately with creature difficulty (more XP should be awarded for taming/training more powerful creatures)

This is not a question, or a request or anything, just more statements. I happen to agree with said statement but as you go up in CH levels you do get more training experience because of the additional commands so it peretty much works out that the higher level you are the more exp you get training. If it scaled like combat did you would be shafted on training exp except on rare and powerfull creatures. Is that how you want the grind to go? I'd rather have the current system where I can get exp on the common critters. Think about the consiquences of what you want!

  1. CH-specific missions and content (i.e. 'Taming' missions) available from terminals and/or NPCs

This is not a question. You are looking to get stuff no other elete class has (except BH granted). I'd love to see these also but its just not in the cards in the imedieate future. If your talking long term its a good cause. If you want it "NOW OR ELSE" prepare for ELSE.

  1. Ability to train pets through the commandline (i.e. /train followme Follow)

This is not a question. It would be nice to macro training. It also may be a decent request. Now, learn to figure out how to make it a request or a question and not a statement or complaint.

  1. More variety in creatures/pets in the wild. Different colors, slightly different capabilities, etc within a species

This is not a question. THey already have some of this. You can have all kinds of different dewbacks and banthas and kupas etc... We have a realy massive veriety of pets. What you realy want is a wider veriety of good combat pets. You should learn to ask for what you realy want.

  1. More new pet commands/tricks

This is not a question. (praise be I can stop typing that). <imitation> Um ya and we want more stuf! Ya stuff is good. <end imitation> What exactly? What's a dev supposed to do in responce to this kind of general statement of desire?

First, this list comes from a list of issues dating back more than 4 months. It IS a list

of both fixes, needs, and wants. It address both known issues and some matters that May make OUR profession more in line with other Combat Professions (Yes Combat Professions) that require less skill points to use. We put more time and sink more skill points into C/H than any other Combat Prof. My first question: Why can I be standing doing nothing and my pet that is standing next to me "poof" into nonexistance? If this happened to similiar weapons in other professions the outcry....would be horrible. question: Why can we control a Lvl 70 creature but can not tame or train one? Question: Why do ranged attack promised to us do not work or are totally speratic? Although I have had this work sometimes. Question: Why when a pet is trained as a mount it will not follow its master any longer? Question: Why when I pull a pet out of my data pad and ask it to follow it sometimes stands there looking stupid or starts following in slow motion. Question: What is the Creature Handlers' role? At FanFest the devs brought out that they wanted each profession to fill a role in the galaxy, Which role do we fit in? Question: Why when fighting baggersets with my Rancor (the baddest creature you can tame) does my Rancor turn tail and run away? He Is Not Chasing The Bagersets, He Is Running From Them. In fact they stopped chasing him to attack me and my Rancor just kept on going......going.....Hmmm. Question: Why should we ask for commands to Work. We can make a statement that a said command does not work to the Devs. That is their jobs. They make the code. Why put in content that does not work? There, that IS a question. It seems you have not had time to experience most of these frustations. I was at FanFest and had all these issues in a printed format. I attended the forums. I personally handed the issues to the Devs. I was told thanks, great job, we are looking for stuff like this, oh and by the way, nothing will be done until well after the combat rebalance and the space expansion. So I have asked the QUESTIONS, I did put forth informative material, I did bring out known issues. AND We have received BUTKISS.

I am looking forward to the changes when and if they ever come. I will remain a Master Creature Handler because I love it. Thats my 2 cents for what its worth. And welcome back Pluto.

Maybe all the Newer C/H should take a look at Vert's threads at the top of this forum.

These are issues brought out to the devs by our corespondant. We put these out as

information that needed fixed or that We Wanted changed. We did not "whine", this was to be informative. The devs agrred with almost all points brought out at FanFest C/H, Scout, Ranger Forum.

But we have not received Any feedback. This is Very frustating. Especially, for those of us that have been putting up with it. Don't get me wrong, I love being a MCH. I will remain one. However, we are

weaker than any other combat class. And there are many issues that need to be fixed and addressed. As you can see in my sig, I have had to expand my class selection to stay alive. I had planned on being Master Ranger and Master C/H. I ditched that a long time ago and am still struggling with what skill points I have left to make my character more competative. I know some here will agree with me when I say I run into players ingame all the time that state they USED

to be a C/H. That is disappointing.

This is not a question.

Tack "Will this ever be addressed?" on to every one of those if you want to nit-pick.

Obviously you do though as you show you show you are more concerned with phrasing than the spirit and your rebuttal basically boils down to "deal with it, fixing issues is not worthwhile".

As spreadsheet said, this is a list that was four months old. Three items have been partially addressed and that is because they used to work and then broke.

< What you are failing to realize, is that Creature Handler for many people IS thier combat profession.>

And this is whose fault?

Creature Handler is NOT a combat profession. Combat professions are based off Marksman and Brawler.

Claiming that CH is a combat profession is just plain daft. It makes no sense.

< The strongest animal we can have, BE or no, can be taken down by any other Master with less skill point usage. I spent a whole 30 seconds checking this.

CH uses 14 more points than the combat professions. ***14***.

That's all. It's not exactly a huge investment.....

Even then, Smuggler, Commando, TK and a couple others use MUCH more than that.

< I suggest you go and try your "if it doesn't work, you're stupid for not taking a skill that does to go with it" argument to the BH boards right about now. >

You seem to be slightly confused.

I am not against people wanting bugs to be fixed. Bugs *should* be fixed.

I am against people whinging about a class being 'unplayable' when it patently isn't. Hyperbole is the bane of the forums....

As for BH, that *is* a combat class. And it should work.

Brilyn. We don't care what about what you have to say. You are here to troll. Plain and simple. People such as yourself are one of the reasons why CH is in the position it is in now, by playing down our issues.
