Thread: Crafters Screamed, No Nerf For Them. Creature Handlers Screamed, No One Cared.
Now, wether you believe melee should be included is irrelevent. Even today martial arts and, to a lesser degree, sword/staff play has a place in society among an esoteric elite. Knives and batons have and will always be viable alternatives to firearms. Ever heard of a bayonett?
From the movies, Tusken Raiders proved quite capable at smashing Luke's skull once they got close. Reading the book version (George Lucas being the author, no interpretation) they also managed to smash apart his rifle. Are we quite satisfied that a guy with a big sword can be lethal? Yes? Good.
Now, we have to consider gameplay. A man who has trained to fight up close should be able to survive at such range. If he's in the sights of a man with a carbine and runs straight at him, of course he should be cut down. Likewise should a man with a rifle be unable to keep focus on a guy with a vibroaxe smashing his head in half. Are we agreed that it is hard to focus on taking aim when your skull is being bashed in?
Please, reply to this only if you are ready to discuss rather than flame. I'm sure the voices in your head will be more than happy to entertain your rants.
Ryche,
No CH. Well whatever, more than anything it's all the bugs.
And just fyi yesterday went out to do Torturs, with my BE cat, it ran, and don't hand me that load of BS about my cat being a coward, it is ferocity coming out the wazoo, its the same bug we have all been complaining about.
And my mount doesn't follow. We are average, average sucks for a supposedly elite profession. Nuff said.

Actually, I started on day 1 of launchto bea CH (only went 1/2 way to master), so I know how its been before ALL the patches and after (I'm guilty also of being the evil BH/CH dabbler on Naritus). I also recently got CH as a holo, so I'm currently working on it now.
Granted, CH is buggy. All the professions are. My buddy has a Bull Rancor that ran away from a Nightsister Initiate. Stupid and a load of BS? Yes. Funny - yes!!!

Oh btw my tamed grand wrix has a new strategy for killing an opponent. He hops in the opponents lap and chews it to death. Yes my pet now stands so the biped opponent is in the middle of my pet. No more running away trying to get best attack range though

We used to be a lot stronger even in PvE. There are much better PvE templates out there now, too.
So we are average in PvE and horrible in PvP. We used to be kings at both.
Quite a comedown. And I don't expect Publish 8 or 9 to fix it, either.
Well, of course, we used to be able to call three rancors or some such. I don't miss that, hell, I don't even think Rancors should be tamable to begin with. I like this PvE system, PvP needs adjustments after the entire combat revamp. I can take out a juvenile krayt dragon with the help of my pet, that's enough for me. If someone can solo 2 juvenile krayts, good for them, I am satisfied which is all there is to a game. If you have to be über to be satisfied then I can imagine your headache.

This statement proves EXACTLY why CH had to be nerfed. No one profession should be "king" of PvP or PvE. This would defeat the whole concept of balance.
As far as the people in the movies with melee weapons not fighting: What do you think the guy Luke knocked into the sarlacc pit was doing with his long vibro ax? He was trying to brain Luke with it. Are you are calling Gamorean (should really learn how to spell that) Guards "ceremonial"?
Speaking of Ceremonial guards, remember the Emperor's Guards, they were carrying lances. You think they were only there for decoration? They weren't really supposed to protect the Emperor?
Star Wars does not take palce in the 25th Centrury it takes place A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
Part of what you have here in the disagreement of whether the changes were okay or horrible is a distinction between different classes of Creature Handlers. The merchant class, whose main source of income was finding, taming and selling higher level pets when CH dabblers could wield the stronger types were almost completely bankrupt by these changes. Their revenue stream was almost completey cut off. Those of us that did not make money that way were not nearly hurt so bad.
Of course we have our share of bugs that need to be fixed, but so does everyone. I think if they could fix the pet running from comabt issue most of us would be happy.

ROFL,
You guys really by that rebalance load of horse apples don't you. Let's take a quick trip down history lane ok.
In the beginning, SOE DEVs created CH as an ELITE profession. Cool they
<snipped a lot of crying, meaningless drivel and unintelligible speech>
CH still rocks, I've been doing it from the beginning and still do it now. I'm glad we got rid of the exploiters and dabblers and people like SkyPreacher1. the profession has been rebalanced and creatures in general have too. Now there's a few things I don't agree with but not enough to make me throw a fit, cancel my account and bad mouth a game I originally paid for.
Dabblers. I went out on a guild hunt with TPE (not as a member) and I was sickened to see just about every person had sludge panthers. Remember armor 1 and how easy it was to get to GSP level? Sheesh, dabbler CH's were ALL over and that cheapened the CH profession. I was mad that SOE made everyone have CH power the same or greater than a novice CH. But eventually they discovered their folly and made the lower end of the profession rather unsavory to those wanting a quick and easy way to have a tank and still keep their main profession. (you guys call it a nerf).
