they have this rule so completely backwards it isnt even funny. 99 percent of pvp is within city limits in the game. if you are going to have a timer to "eliminate" griefing then it should be in the city not in the wild.

make it so instant calling of pets outside of cities limits, 30 sec timer in cities and you have your solution.

personally only a very few will even try to pull pets out in pvp so its basically nothing more than a timesink to institute ANY waiting period in the wild for a pet.

Looking through the notes, I found this little tidbit. Get ready for the screaming:

World

Removed the requirement for camps to call a pet (faction, creature, droid), mount or vehicle. There is a 30 second delay after calling your pet, mount or vehicle before it will appear. Combat during that 30 seconds will stop the call from completing. There is a one minute delay after combat where you will not be able to call a pet, mount or vehicle. Players will not be able to call a pet, mount, or vehicle while riding a vehicle or mount.

This is bad. Very bad.

That means if something attacks you, there is first a 60 second wait to call something, then 30 seconds for it to arrive. Should you be attacked at any point during this 90 seconds, you get to start the process over again.

For all those saying the 30 second rule was not a big deal, do you now get why we said it will be a problem?

Vert,

I believe we need clarification here. Your previous post stated camps were staying and the 30 second timer was out. Now they are testing the timer?

Whats "additional Checks?"

I thought, this was solved, and all BE-built pets show correct level now?

No, the BEs are beside themselves on this. The devs, who are now apparently pushing to create a new, even more demeaning variety of meatlump, still refuse to give the BEs any idea of what constitutes an "invalid" pet.

It's far from solved. Many BEs know there is a problem, are desperately trying to get the devs to address it, but they're in the same boat all the rest of us are: the devs aren't talking, and when they do talk, it is with the forked tongue of a voritor lizard.

Outside camp cities, it takes 30 seconds, after the 30 seconds the pet appears automatic.

If you attack in these 30 secs, it will take at least 1 minute untill you can call again (depending on city/camp/wild)

Even worse: the minute timer doesnt give a signal when its over, so you spend the last 20 seconds clicking call every two seconds, like the shuttle droid.

This is the first time i heard about the extra minute anyway. I could have lived with the 30 seconds. But the extra minute suxx0rs bigtime.

Please tell me you bugged this.

To those testing on Test Center, I thank you for your time, and your ability to help out. Sorry I can't jump on and help out.

What is the point? I don't know about the rest of you but it doesn't take me 30 to slap together a camp and set it up. This set up is actually WORSE than the camp deal. So I can ride out to my mission hop off my bike, call a pet...and it takes 30 seconds to show up and that's only IF I haven't haven't been attacked somewhere on the drive. I can set up a camp in less than 10 seconds to call a pet, why would I bother with the stupid 30 second delay? REMOVE THE TIMER!!! We're the only profession in the game that requires a timer to use our weapons. Have you ever seen a pistoleer try to equip an FWG5 and have to wait 30 seconds before it pops into his/her hand? We've already got ridiculous timers on our profession, remember, we can't store a pet for a full minute after it finishes fighting...now they're adding a timer to when we can call them as well? This might be a news flash for everyone at the development team but our profession already sucks, now it is just going to add huge delays until it can suck.

I am in full agreement over the timer now. I was basically thinking that it would just be another feature, nothing really helpful, but it would save some time if I ran out of camps/no bone or hide.
However, now that they threw this whole, timer is cancelled when entering combat, that is really unacceptable. I firmly believe that the DEVs are completely trying to get rid of CH as a solo prof. That we must all take up secondary profs to be able to get any real progress done. I myself am an aspiring Teras Kasi, however, I have tried to fight with just pets many times and it is horrid. This timer is virtually useless now, I doubt I'll ever really use it.
Too bad that we don't have any forums where the DEVs have a chance to read our comments about changes to the game that WE play... wait a minute...

Yeah.

Like how we asked repeatedly to have the obstructive and unnecessary camp requirement removed, but instead got it replaced with a set of timers. And when we kicked up a fuss about that, we got back the original, SUPPLEMENTED with a set of timers.

There's communication alright, and it's far better than no communication. But all communication passes through Thunderheart, and he's got no love for the "poke players."

I just thought of something.

Say, you get into a fight, and your pet is low on health. Okay, you wait 1 min.

Call another pet out, wait 30 sec.

That's 1 min and 30 sec to call your next pet out. That's a little bit extreme.

More then likely people are going to end up still getting novice scout just for the camp anyways, since people have scout for terrain negotiation anyways.

This is just ridiculous. There never was a timer preventing you to call a pet or vehicle after finishing combat, why was this added ?

Wasn't it enough that we can't store pets 30 seconds after combat ? Imagine if you will the next scenario after publish 7 with these changes in effect:

I take a mission on tatooine, not even dathomir or other places where everything will attack you 95% of the time, I go to my mission my pet goes poof just as I'm attacked by some Desert demons. I run to safety, usually away from my mission because mission is more things that will attack me on sight, Desert Demon leaves me alone and some tusken raiders spawn exactly in my location, I couldn't call my pet yet because of new restrictions so I run away again, almost dying from these raiders... Having barely escaped the Tuskens I deploy a camp and call my pet, have to wait a minute and some dragonets spawn, OOPS in my hurry to flee from tuskens I forgot to maskscent when combat was over, pet call is overridden, I am NO match for a dragonet so I run again. This would take 15-30 minutes until I finally decide to just burstrun back to a npc city and call my pet... I leave the city limits and poof, my pet is gone and suddenly some evil hermits are there that want a piece of my ranger hide... Or some Kreetle breaks my Master Ranger maskscent and starts nibbling on my leg, I can deal with the kreetle without my pet but I cannot deal with the 1 minute rule which is taking about 1 hour now, BTW I'm still not at my mission now and if I were then I need to wait for my pet...

This is no exaggeration, this happens to me on a daily basis, atleast now I can deploy a camp and IMMEDIATELY call my pet out, no 60 second wait after combat is finished and no 30 seconds waiting for it to show up.

I will have no problems with this IF and ONLY IF they fix the disappearing pet bug, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. First fix pet go bye bye bug and then implement timers, it might be a few publishes away if they cannot track why pets go poof but until that time NO new timers please, especially timers like these. Everything is always out to get me and I rarely have 60 seconds without anything attacking me, let alone 90 seconds...

I'mhave a feeling that SOE wants casual gamers like me to just leave the game entirely.

EDIT: Does anyone know if this is just for pets or do same restrictions apply to Creature Pets, Faction pets and vehicles ? Would only be fair if the same rules apply to commandos wanting to call their speeder as me, a ranger, calling my mount and a Stormtrooper commando calling his AT-ST.

This is EXACTLY the kind of nonsense that makes this game NOT FUN to play!

As Creature Handlers, we are going to have to endure this cra-p until the rest of the community starts to use droids when the Droid Invasion launches. Then everyone will realize what these delays REALLY mean in practice.
