Thread: CU Observations: The good, the bad, and the ugly
As Master Pistol/MCH, I'm combat level 80. I dueled a level 80 Master Ranger just now with my Boar Wolf Ravager (66) grouped, and the wolf was only doing 112 dmg at a time against the Ranger, who blew him away in about 15 seconds.
Tried 3 Kusaks (combined creature level 68), the CL 23's were doing 69 damage per hit, the CL 22 was getting 66 damage .... took about 3 hits from the enemy each to knock them out of the fight.
Working as designed? Bug? Wouldn't it be nice if we had a prayer of getting an answer during this turn of the galaxy?

Trying to get REAL rules and correct information from SOE about this game is like clapping with one hand. To this day, I can't figure out why the game even ships with a rule book in the box. Its a waste of paper!

It was purely a test to see whether they lasted for any meaningful length of time in pvp compared to pre-CU, and the answer seemed to be a resounding No ... that without their specials they're now weaker than ever.

well as stated before you picked the worst profession to duel your pet against, the rangers are in major need of a revamp themselves, but when it comes to killing creatures they are the best at it.
OK, I understand. I did the same too. But you have to realize, you aren't testing correctly, to test pets in pvp, you would have to test them against a lvl 60 person to get any kind of accurate measure of the pets without helping them. See what i'm saying?
I can't remember the exact lvl of JUST a MCH, I think around 54ish?

Well, that's interesting ... I mean, the pet is grouped with a level 80 combat person (me) with a weapon equipped ... what is their combat level *supposed* to be in that situation?
We're guessing, right? Because so far as I've seen, there is no documentation on this and no 'official' (I use the word very loosely) SOE comment on it.

And no warwidow, having pets fight a lvl 80 person and not helping them is just plain no measure at all of the pets in pvp. You don't understand CU yet. There is no oneprof that makes a person lvl 80, so him using just pets to gauge them against a person lvl 80 is highly misleading.
ya know its down right wrong to let them fight on their own and just hang around the cantina sipping jawa beer!, that is abuse, neglect, and you should be shot for it. or at least mauled by your own pet while you are using the jon.----j/k.
you are still 73, a very powerful 73 with 2 pets and a probot.
But you guys have got to understand it takes a combination of prof to get high level. like 73. you are not *JUST*a master creature handler at lvl 73

OK, Kzin i'll do my best to explain, i'm a little burnt out right this second, so forgive if it doesn't make sense. It's takes a combination of prof. to get you to lvl 80. So but not helping your pet, you're actually cutting them in half... as far as combat goes.
Well, it surely isn't *your* fault if it doesn't make sense!
Are you saying that the PET's combat level, determining how much damage it does to its opponent and how much damage it takes in turn, is not determined by MY combat level, but by which SKILLS I'm using? You mean if I'd been firing my Pistol and using Pistoleer skills they'd be fighting as CL 80's, but if I just have the weapon equipped and am not firing, they're only CL 54?
That can't possibly be how it works ... not even in Bizarro-CU.
