Classic CH patch ... nothing fixed, but an exciting new bug!

Sometimes these patch notes are poorly worded. I am waiting to see if this is the known problem with pets not responding to commands (except follow) when aggroed.

Would it really matter if pet commands no longer worked? It's not like using pets in battle is viable anymore since the last publish, so would you really miss telling your pet to attack and then having 3-4 other lvl 82 mobs come rushing at you?

Although, I guess we wouldn't be able to have our pets do tricks in cities now, which is all we really have at the moment,,,

Oh nooooooooo ... combat for pets was nerfed a while ago but now we can't even entartain the people with them any more? What a sad day for SWG

We can still call pets and let AoE enemies hit them, thusly getting around the nerf for some NPCs...... .

Nobody panic yet. It looks bad but the fact that they are acknowledging it up front and without prompting on our part is a good sign. If you're so inclined, if you're worried I'd suggest posting a polite call for all possible to be done to prevent the bug from making it to live in this thread.

LOL!

Did you forget the patch 19 bug that wiped all our pet stats already? They knew about that bug on test center and pushed it to live, and they can do it again!

I've lost just about all my respect for the developers professionalism and desire to produce a quality SW experience.

I posted this in another thread, but I'll post it here as well. The reason that commands are not working appears to be due to the following...

<
Well, since no one else has seemed to notice, or post the information, I'll post a wee bit of an update here, so that a few people can stop playing the 'Let's jump to conclusions' game....

It would appear that the beginnings of the new pet specials system are on the way to Test Center. Don't take my word for it, take a look at http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=setandget&tp=284766&poll_id=0&category_id=19&warned=y target=_blank>this Screen shot. Pay close attention to the top left hand corner. There is a listing for Trainable Abilities, Training Points, and Training XP. These values would appear to be consistent with information a certain DEV commented on, not too long ago in this forum.

Something else to contemplate, before jumping off the gun, is the fact that Babies are currently wonky on Test Center. Their Levels are not CL1 as they should be. They appear to have the same CL as their parents. If I recall correctly, this same issue was what broke the Elite tamables last time around, before it hit Live.

And for the last bits of information....

The new training window looks like this. This pop up menu comes up when the train option is chosen. When the pet is trained, each command will be listed in the window, like so. I disagree with the comment on the new interface making the training process longer, since it is now much easier to train each command, since you can open the interface box up and leave it there, without having to keep a finger on the ~ key or keeping your mouse button clicked.

Currently, on Test Center, newly tamed pets are not responding to any trained commands. I'm 100% certain that this is due to the upcomming changes that should be hitting TC in the next few days, that will change how the pets are trained and how specials are learned.

I'll try to keep posting more information as I discover it. It does look like the pet system revamp, that was mentioned is in the process of being added to TC in stages, so everyone needs to wait a few days and take a lesson from your pets.... /tellpetowner Trick1.

Well given what happened with the "known" issue of the 1(0) bug, I'm going to make another bet with you guys.

$50 says this bug makes it live. They might even say it's fixed on TC... it might even BE fixed on TC... but $50 says when this patch hits live servers, yet AGAIN, this bug will appear with it.

A further $50 says they don't even remotely apologize for it either.

Drashk,

Thank you for that post. I lack the time to scan every post on the forums in order to get the full scoop on things to come. While i know the current patch notes dont bode well for our profession i just wanted to throw a little reminder out to everyone ....

SWG has always had bugs ... some come and go others stick around for a while ... i have learned that while the introduction of new bugs is disheartening it does indicate that some attempts are being taken to resolve the issues. I do agree with the statements that these bugs shouldnt make it to live but lets be realistic ...... patches launched are whole game patches .... meaning they affect many different game aspects. And before i get flamed into a charred marshmellow ..... CH/BE remain a small group of people in a large playerbase ..... what would you have said/done if the level zero pet fix was held up because of some other professions fix wasnt ready yet. I truely dont see the Devs as intentionally destroying any profession, I think the major developmental issue is communication. What exactly do i mean by this ? i will outline below

the power structure is as follows:

SOE

DEVS

Corespondents

Players/CSR's

SOE - the people looking at the dollar and cents ..... care little about what is going on in the game .... they look at enrollement

DEVS - get to recieve the lashings from SOE and when the mood strikes them log into the forums for some inspiration only to find that the good ideas are buried under 20 tons of whining

Corespondents -Truely one of the worst positions to fill IMHO .... list the issues compiled from the players push them to the devs .... get ignored ..... then have to listen to the 20 tons referred to above.

CSR's - in a nutshell i have NEVER had any experience with them that ended on a good note. They are simply players that can moderate the chat rooms and people who knowing of their own lack of control or authority (not to mention the amount of time it takes to get in touch with one) , cant ever seem to get your problem fixed. So why do they still exist? simple SOE (the dollar and cents guys .... look at the volume that these toons deal with ...... open ticket totals and "problem solved" closed ticket totals. As long as those numbers stay high then CSR's continue to draw a check ....

Players - This is where the rubber meets the road ..... we beta test the patches and provide feedback but somewhere the feedback is lost ....... where/why does this occur simple

Corperate SOE pushes the DEV team with no knowledge of what is actually going on ..... Devs simply cant resist or disobey directives from above ....... so the publishes go live ..... players burst into flamethrowers. the Devs have to regroup and now in addition to the previous bugs the rush job to meet the deadlines setforth by the Sony Gods created they now need to address the new bugs. So how do we fix this .... hehe you dont it is corperate america ..... an industry standard so to speak ..... for those of you that arent there yet ..... this is a basic concept in employment ..... once a person gets into upper level management they lose touch with the operations and only look at numbers ...... and they forget (this is only if they ever even knew) what their subordinates have to deal with. Unrealistic goals are the order of the day and the do it or else is a constant ( rarely do you ever hear the or else it is simply understood by all parties involved).

Sorry for the rant ...... i got a little carried away .......

Devs keep you heads up

Correspondents stay motivated

CSR's i hear Burger King is hiring .... you can at least compete in the under 18 job market and have a leg up on the competition

Players - Issues will always be replaced with more issues .... keep up the good work ... post the issue lets the devs deal with it or not and stay positive .... the fix is only a Download away.

SOE Corperate - be afraid be very afraid .... on day some 12yo is gonna be grinding his way up your gonna perform a forced nerf on his profession and the kid is gonna make his dads life hell ........ only to find out his dad has the ability to exert some influence on the staff at your HQ ...... then you will join the CSR's at BK (i can dream cant i)

ok rant complete back to the game
