What about having the guard command "on"and you find a baby in the wild? I used to use "follow" to turn this off and then would safely try and tame the creature. If Guard isn't toggled and the baby I'm trying to tame aggro's me .... my pet will eat them for lunch.
Can we get confirmation on the toggle?
Exactly. Which is why the toggle must be confirmed. This happened to me last night...my CRC snacked on a grand wrix baby that aggroed on me.
I think I read that it is an on/off command. The first tim eyou issue the command your critter buddy will guard you. The second time you issue the command turns it off.
A good way to test it if you have a lot of negative Meatlump faction is to go to Kor Vella and stand at the mission terminal at the Guild Hall across the bridge from the shuttle port. Issue the command and watch your critter buddy kill meatlumps. Issue the command again and see if your critter buddy stops attacking the meatlumps that spawn near the mission terminal.
many (and perhaps all) of you know full well that you can use the guard command to have your pets help out members of your party.
i use the guard command nearly exclusively when out hunting solo. i just /tellpet guard and then run out with my sword allowing things to agro me. my pet gets XP, i get XP and the baddies get wiped out.
i rarely ever have to use my attack command when tanking like this
