While I love the idea of a necklace that increases pet level, I think it really sucks that it requires 80th level to use instead of Master Creature Handler. So my MCH/MBE can not and never will be able to use it.

I agree with you i am just lvl54 so this peice is plain junk for me, master ch would be better requirment for it in my eyes also and remove the lvl requirment totaly.

Fein out

I believe that there is no other items required, only that in order to tame up to CL74 we must have already successfully tamed at least a CL71. Then once we tame a 73 or 74 we can go for a 75 or 76. There werre at least 60 different "glowing items" in beta, with over 300 recipes form those. Finding the recipe for this one item will be hard enough, unless they plan on just giving it to us as an inventory item. If we have to find the recipes for 4 additional items, that would totally suck. Also, the devs could have added more glowing items since beta closed. They said they closed beta early to finish testing internally, and to still have some surprises even to those that were in beta. I fully expect a few surprises, since that would explain there willingness to lift the NDA so early, they were using the beta testers as a "leak" of sorts. I'm hoping one of the surprises is that the items we need to make this necklace, the recipe for it, or the necklace itself, will just fall in our lap on first log in I cant wait to see what a CL80 pet, or combo can do. I think a nice BE level 20 pet, might stand up nicely with my Bloodseeker mite queen. .....Oh crap, if she spams the AOE specials, PLUS the random specials,PLUS what I've trained here, I'm gonna have a coranary!!!! Got to go test her,lol

The only thing that makes me think these items are linked in some manner is that one of spacerancor's posts from beta he said something along the lines of "A series of items ch need to assemble and use" to get level 80 taming ability. I cant remember the exact wording (sorry). So im not sure. I guess we will find out soon enouigh tho

That's not a bad idea. Or maybe it's along the lines of a "charm bracelet" where the necklace starts out with +2, and you slot in new items to boost it up to +10.

Out of curiousity, I noticed that there wasn't any skill requirement to wear it, just CL 80. I hope this was just a typo and doesn't mean that non-CHs can take advantage of it... CL 80 + Novice CH should be the minimum requirement in my opinion, although CL 80 + MCH might be more balanced.

Can't really see if this would make a real difference - a non-CH who goes to whatever lengths are necessary to obtain this necklace would be able to command a level 20 creature - I don't think this would be gamebreaking - am i missing something here?

Bluntly put, they're out of luck. The Devs don't want a CL54 character to be able to control a CL80 creature. So if you really want to grab that high-level pet, start grinding.

And now i am thinking how Datura should get CL80...
Problem is: i dont want to loose my Master BE. Guess there is no way i could do it then...
(Datura is Master-CH, Master-BE and have track III - but i heard they removing track...)

I suspect that this will have no effect at all on a non-CH. Here's why: The game doesn't grant every character in the game a "Max pet level" stat. If you're not a creature handler, you don't have this stat at all, making it effectively zero. The game simply makes an exception for the value of zero and treats it as if it was 10 instead.

The necklace will add to the base stat, giving a non-CH a base value of 10. The game then checks his level when he calls his pet and, sure enough, he has a level of 10. No need to make any exceptions.

The necklace doesn't need to list master creature handler as a requirement because, by definition, you'd need to be master creature handler to qualify to be both CL80 and have a modified "Max pet level" of 80.

If the restrictions listed in the Friday Feature are truly the only restrictions on using the necklace then the really interesting usage is going to be for the dabblers. What kind of template can you make that would give you CL80 without having to be a Master CH? Typically, you can reach CL80 in this fashion - Profession-A Master, Profession-B 4440, Professon-C 4200.

This works, for instance, with the CH/Rifleman/Squad Leader template that someone posted awhile back. If there's a similar template that lets you get to CL80 using only part of CH for the template, then the necklace will enhance that template by allowing it to control a higher CL pet than it otherwise would be able to control. Bounty hunters who dabble in CH would find this necklace pretty exciting, I'd imagine. Ditto for Master CH players who are happy with using a CL70 pet. They could free up skill points for 10CL worth of max pet level and use them somewhere else instead.

The necklace doesn't just help masters. It also makes hybrids just a little more viable.

duuno why...but pretty sure the necklace will be MCH only...no hard data to back it up...just a hunch.

Thanks for the reply about the non CHs

I don't actually see the necklace making any real difference in dabbler templates especially if the aim is to obtain the +10 necklace but still keep your max pet level at 70.

at 4444 the CH has a max pet level at 60 with the rise to 70 coming by +10 for the master box. So to retain a pet level of 70 with the necklace you could only drop the master CH box, saving only1 skill point
