I don't have any medical either, nor do I buff or wear armor, and I do just fine. I'm a wookiee, which helps slightly, but I'm also trying the no armor/buff thing on my Bothan, and so far he's doing just fine as well by being smart. You just need to know when to back off attacking and let the pets take over the aggro, and when to flat out run, which you do need to do from time to time.
Exactly, the Key as a Master Ranger and Master Creature Handler is to not get hit
.
IF you can manage not to get hit, then Armor is just a bad fashion statement and buffs are a waste of creds ![]()

Hey Teyla,
I am a Master Ranger, Master CH, with novice Medic and Pistol 4 in Marksman. I don't wear armor, don't regularly buy buffs and rarely die. Like someone said above, with this kind of template, you learn how to not get hit.
I would never consider trying to solo a Krayt or Night Sister, but I do have a lot of fun exploring and hunting critters for the hot meat or hide of the day. I often do so solo and really only group if my friends/family are on and want to do something. I love my pets and really love being a Master Ranger.... I hope you will enjoy your journey through both professions.

This is a hard combo you're looking at, friend. You won't be able to fight worth beans, so if you enjoy the thrill of battle, steer clear of Master Ranger/Master Creature Handler - you're just too weak. Pets can't effectively fight other creatures, unless you're willing to wait for literally hours on end to complete even the simplest of battles.
On the flip side, if all you want to do is collect babies, roll around enjoying the scenery, and cruise past all those mobs that most people enjoy tangling with, you may have fun.
I'd say go pistol with three boxes or rifle with three boxes. You don't have to get close that way (since you have no medical skills, this is good) and you can just stand off and shoot while the pets take the beating. Even if you only have those mediocre combat skills, you'll outdamage your pets - they simply suck offensively. So they function as meat shields while you do the damage - slowly, but surely, since your combat skills will be so weak.
It's a challenging combo, especially since most of the Ranger tree stinks (tents are worthless, Ranger traps are worthless, and Camo Kits have dicey effectiveness), but if you're determined, you can do it. Just be patient, and don't ever fight with anything above CL 40.
Good luck!

Oh, and one more thing - Bio-Engineers are becoming so disgruntled with *their* profession that you don't see a lot of them around anymore. I think the devs developed the whole holocron/grind to Jedi bit to keep people in the professions that they (the devs) refuse to look at and fix.
That said, finding petstims can be tough, and you'll need *lots* of them if you rely so heavily on pets. Also, don't use pets you really care a lot about, because they'll poof or run away or you'll die and they'll get incapped while you're back at base cloning.
It's a tricky balancing act playing two semi-borkedprofessions - which are dependent upon other semi-borked professions.
