Hey all. I am novice CH, novice Ranger, and I plan on mastering both. I just need help determining what would be my biggest bang for the buck with the 47 other skill points? I know I can't master a combat skill with that, but maybe go novice and up 3 skill boxes in one? Any suggestions?

Thanks so much in advance!

Problem. CH Alone is not a Combat Profession you can play standalone.

Even at Master Level. Even L70 Pets have problems Killing alone.

So, id suggest you tame up a Melee Mastry ( im doingSword) or Pistoleer

Why Melee over Ranged? You have to stay close to heal your pet with petstims.

The DOT, Tanking and State Inducting of Pets goes well with Melee damage

dish-out.

MY Idea:

Master CH

Master Sword

Novice Medic

Novice Carbine (for parting shots)

Thanks for the reply! The only problem I think I have is I want to stay with Master Ranger and Master CH, meaning I could probably only do like 0-0-3-0 in a weapon mastery...

Well, that is going to be dicey but you could go 0030 in TKA. This would give you most of the Power Tree which controls the speed of attack and amount of damage you do. It would also give you dizzy and an area attack, Unarmed Spin Attack 2. The spin attack is very useful against multiple targets and if you are going to be harvesting Avian Meat it is invaluable for those one hit wonders.

WELCOME MY FRIEND

As you cans ee by my Sig I am A Master Ranger and MCH.

BUT too be honest HOW I got here was I was a three class dabbler.

I went up Ranger and MCH as well as Pistoleer as time went by.

I even ended up Mastering Pistoleer and then surrendering the boxes as I moved up more in CH and Ranger.

I now have Pistoleer 0-0-1-1 as my final combat profession.

MRanger and MCH is AWESOME.

I just returned from Dathomir from Hunting for a Bull Rancor, I was able to literally drive right through DOZENS of adult Bulls, Mutated, Enraged, Youths, Gnarled Rancors for the last 5 days.

I never found a Bull Baby, But I have a new Rancor, Gnarled Rancor, Craggy Bolma and Gaping Spider Hunter, ALL Light armored LV 44 and up in my datapad.

There is NO rush like when you drive through a field of red and they ignore you.

Awesome choice in professions and good luck to you.

You may find that your combat choice goes up faster than your CH and Ranger, let it, you can always surrender those skills when you need to finally get those upper boxes for Master.

Thank you Rooks! Great information. Out of curiousity, why did you keep pistol 0-0-1-1. How does that serve you? Do you find you can hurt the mobs or is it more just to hunt alongside your pets? Also, I am actually at novice pistoleer. Whats a good pistol to use?

Thanks again

Acutally, it depends on your flavor. I have Carbineer, and with my Acid Carbine and my EE3, the range is not much more than a pistol so when hunting Squills, dune lizards and dragonettes I can run in, heal and run out before anything happens.

Now with higher end content, I'm usually hunting in groups with other CHs so I send in my lower end pets in after combat is established, so they don't get hurt that much. Also, I dont' use pet stims, just Cstims and have maximum heal/wound treatment, with a +25 wound heal treatment coat, so I get some major healing.

I know some that are MRs and some that go MBE/MCH and just novice skill. so basically depends on what ya wanna do.

I keep 0-0-1-1 cause of Melee knockdown 1 in the fourth column. I keep the third column just cause .

I prefer a Scout Blaster with a speed of 1.8 with 75-160 damage on average, unsliced.

I of course carry all sorts of other pistols for specific encounters, such as the DX2 for the Geo caves, a FWG, a Striker pistol and I have a DOT Dl18 that is really just for show

I like to keep the melee knockdown on the more than rare times that the target breaks away from my pets and charges me. I use the knockdown to put distance between us.

I use as Pistol specials Healthshot 1 and Healthshot 2, unless within 10m and then use melee knockdown1.

Also, I have ranged support 1 under marksman for suppression fire in case I need to scare the target away from myself or a badly wounded pet.

Hope this helps, also remember, you can always give up those pistol or combat skills when ready to go up farther as Ranger or MCH.

Advice: go up Tracking first as Ranger, it REALLY helps to find Babies when you are hunting specific babies as a CH.

Good luck.

I have a Master CH/Ranger, intending on making it a Master Ranger as well. That is a FUN combo to play. My combat is only Polearms 4, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are expecting to be able to fight anything on your own. It does decent damage, but you don't hit very often, so your traps become essential. I'm my pet's backup, pure and simple, but I don't expect to be able to solo anything above a Great Plains Stalker, ever, and definitely nothing of that level as more than a single spawn. I'd take TKA as well if I wasn't attached to my pike.

Rooks, how do you fare with no medical?

I buy Petstims for my pets.

I use my camps for my own healing.

I don't get busted up too often unless a pull goes bad.

IF a pull goes bad, either I get incapped or DBed and then rest in camp a bit.

I do not use Buffs very often at all nor do I wear armor.

My pets usually keep my target occupied enough for me, the key is to have them attack the target BEFORE you do, that way the target aggroes them. Also, buy a good combat droid as back-up.

Right now I use 3 pets, a Probot and myself as a small strike team and have a blast.

Am i Uber? No.

Do I have fun? Oh Yeah.

I don't have any medical either, nor do I buff or wear armor, and I do just fine. I'm a wookiee, which helps slightly, but I'm also trying the no armor/buff thing on my Bothan, and so far he's doing just fine as well by being smart. You just need to know when to back off attacking and let the pets take over the aggro, and when to flat out run, which you do need to do from time to time.
