Here is my take on the 'Balance' issue and how delicate it is. As it is stated in this post the first time you start adjusting creature stats you adjust it for not only the wild untamed ones but also for those that have been tamed by Ch's.

So to me the 'Balance' has to be on the 'Profession' side and not on the actual creature side.

Let me explain if I can.

When we all 1st started this game your character came with a certain set of skills that they could use and anything above your 'skill level' would not be allowed or you were severly hindered when you tried to perform it.

For example, you start a NOOB Novice Marksman character whom basically can only use a CDEF pistol and has no 'special' attacks with a pistol weapon to speak of. Try instead using a scout blaster or using 'Double Tap' off the Pistoleer tree. You will find out that you can use the scout blaster but you are told that the effectivness has been severly reduced and you can forget using 'Double Tap' because you dont have that skill yet.

So using that as a base we have to apply the same rules when it comes to the CH Profession.

Using the Rancor as you have pointed out, in the wild form the Rancor is as follows:

Wild Rancor
CL50
11300HAM
Kinetic 30.0%
Energy 30.0%
Heat 60.0%
Cold 60.0%
Electricity 60.0%
Special Attack 1: Stunning Strike
Special Attack 2: Intimidation
Base-To-Hit: 0.5
Damage: 420-550
Attack Speed: 2

Why cant the balance now be applied to the profession so that when this creature is tamed rightfully by a Master CH that combined with the CH's skills and a set of commands the Master CH is able to tweak a little more out of his new friend making him more effective than his wild counterpart.

I am not suggesting what any of these CH commands would be or what form they would come in but using the Pisoleer (Double Tap) example I could see as one of the commands so that would say enhance the creatures damage, attack speed, To-Hit and so forth. You might end of up your new friend that looks like maybe this. Keep in mind that the only way you would see these results is by being high enough to control the said pet first and by the use of special commands.

Tamed Master CH Rancor
CL50
11300HAM
Kinetic 30.0%
Energy 30.0%
Heat 60.0%
Cold 60.0%
Electricity 60.0%
Special Attack 1: Stunning Strike
Special Attack 2: Intimidation
Base-To-Hit: 0.65
Damage: 450-600
Attack Speed: 1.5

Doing the 'Balance' this way preserves the wild versions intact for others to combat but at the same time enhances the CH profession by making it a more effective force much like the Pistoleer profession enhances ones use of the pistol sidearm.

Just my thoughts.

Bah let them nerf us, there's so few CH's around that they probably don't give a *EDIT* if we all leave as a result.

Definitely sticking around to see what happens in this alleged combat revamp though.

Hi all

I have been a CH for a year now, and since the nerf the CH pets are poor that also includes the pets damage output.

Some time ago i was thinking of giving up CH because of this, that was a hard choice so i kept telling myself to exceptwhat had been done to CH and live with it so i did,so time pasted and then the comat rebalance was on the way, good i thought thay will now put the CH pets back in line with the other professions and make us better than we are at the moment, but going by what i have read at the moment this is not the case, if thay do nerf us again then i will have to give up the CH profession, as it would be totaly pointless useing all those SP,s on a weak profession that CH will end up being, as it is its a professionwitha lowdamage output...

I like that idea JCooper2. This system could be based on a new ch-mod called creature handling effectiveness. If they would manage to change pet stats in a dynamic way based on this mod this would be really kewl (and you could have much more benefit from master ch).

Thanks for the vote of support.

Just trying to suggest a way to enhance our profession without adversly effecting the combat system and structuring it in a way to reduce dabblers that got us where we are today.....ineffective

This does not shock me that CH is going to get nerfed again. I was shocked to find out when I came back to the game it's no longer a combat field. I'm just holding out into WoW comes out and going over there to play a Hunter.

Good luck on that, unless something has changed, they still haven't gotten it working on beta yet. And I don't see the big deal of WoW, I've been reading up on it and honestly, really don't see anything special about it. eh, to each there own.

Big Deal about WoW?
1) Blizzard's attitude towards their games. They take hacking and exploiting seriously on their free games (Diablo II, Starcraft, Warcraft). When they have a P2P, I KNOW they will have the same attitude. While the original Diablo had a lot of easy exploits, when DII came out, Blizzard had repaired most of the exploits and ways to hack. Granted, you can still hack and exploit all you want on Open Battlenet... but try it on Closed Battlenet and you'll end up looking for a new CD Key. WoW won't have the issues that SWG has on exploits and bugs.

2) Blizzard's attitude towards their customers. See above. When someone has a problem and report it on the forums on Battlenet, Blizzard is there. They are always listening to all their players (not just the Uber Jedi) about what could be done to improve their games and try to implement them. (See skill syrgenies for Diablo II, which also leveled out some of the classes IMHO)

The big deal isn't so much about WoW. The big deal is a company that has ALWAYS served their customers with solid games (for the most part) and good customer service. SOE could take a lesson or two from Blizzard on that account. Because if JTL is a bust and this combat rebalance is a bust... SWG is prolly gonna be dead for a lot of people out there.

SWG was my first MMORPG... and my only one at this time. Not sure how long it will remain playable on my computer as I might uninstall it if this place doesn't improve. Buff lines, Jedi, bugs in some of the most basic of coding concepts...

Greetings Ch Sojourners,

In a nutshell, Correspondent Summit. Promise of good things or no fixes if you are not a combat profession except here. Promise that we shall see docs. 3 weeks, nothing. End of CR.

They haven't even kept the basic promise to dribble out docs for us to look at. Integrity of new master Tyrant at SOE about to make the big flush. Don't tell me things are going to be different cause we got this new hotshot dude leading us. The proof is in the pudding and so far the pudding has been mud pies.

No docs imo equals no Combat Revamp. And I don't care if they had to take them back, these mythical documents have not been seen by anyone outside of the Corrs. and Devs. I am beginning to think SOE just stuck it to the corrs again.

Come on Tiggs, any correspondent and dev. prove me wrong, how bloody long does it take to write up, not code, write, you know words, to give us some idea where the CR is at. I still won't believe in the CR until it actually becomes part of the game and I am tired of all the lame excuses we get for it not happening.

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.

I think it is very premature to assume that CHs are going to be "nerfed". I know there are some that love to assume the Devs are conspiring against CHs though, so have at it I guess.

My impression with the combat revamp is if CH's do get "nerfed" it will be in line with everyone else. Noone likes less power, but in my mind if it is balanced with other professions I'll be happy.

CHs were in denial some period after the December patch, too. It'll pass.
