Thread: Best tank against other creatures?

A BE pet is probably the way to go for a pure pve tank. As a BE/CH, one of my more popular pets is the easy to make second generation CL20ish - has light armor, 60% kinetic, and around 12000/9000/7000 HAM.
Here is an especially low one I made for a novice CH friend:

thats a nice pure creature tank there... only thing i would want out of that would be no ranged attack... even bump it up a couple of lvls and give it intimidate (i think i've seen cl 22's with intimidate and about the same stats)...

Ok i was wondering what the best pet/petcombination against other cretures are? That means it would need high kinetic damage. I used to use two graul maulers, but now it seems they have nerfed their kinetic damage. So i don't know what to use. I just started playing after 6 months of brake.
ok now to reply to the topic at hand...
for a pure tank i'd go with a BE gurreck pair (i'm partial to cats) AR1 60% kin around 10k HAM... but my reasons for this are they are fast critters, and they don't runaway... the specials that you want for a tank are intimidate (must have) and either stun, blind, poision or disease... for mid level mobs (rancors and such) the stun and blind will stick... but for the end game mobs (dragons) i'd get the poision or disease...
i'd also shy away from ranged attacks if you want a pure damage taking tank... my reasoning is that teh pets will sometimes default to ranged and run to stay that way, or will go ranged while you end up tanking whatever you are fighting when you want them to pull the agro from you...
now if you want a pet that also does some damage that'll bump the CL up some so i'd say go all out and get a cl65ish BE with the above stats, but increase the HAM and damage... 15k HAM around 500-600 damage...
but my fav wild tank is my widows, area posion, respectable resists, and nice damage...
i see you're on the same server as me, but sadly all of the BE's i went to have either quit, rerolled, or changed profs... and the current ones most of their time goes to makeing the things for foods... i'll ask around BEAST there and see if they know any...

The best tank in the game is the tamed TKM. I've seen these babies sucessfully tank peko peko albatrosses solo, leaving the rest of the hunting party free to inflict damage.
LOL, sorry but I am not tameble
TKMs can be temporarilty tamed by using dancing Twi'leks to hypmotise them into a state where you can suggest to them things like "see that Krayt...you want to tangle with it!" and you push them in that general direction.
Of course, there is no way to permanently tame a TKM. You must constantly reapply the technique to keep the TKMs attention focused on what you want it to tank. If you don't, it will wander off and find some nightsister or DWB denizen to tank on its own.
