Thread: A couple questions...

Greetings to you all. I am a new Squad Leader looking for a few answers to some questions I have about....well... Squad Leaders.

I have seen me /yelling after each new command given for the group. Is there some way to not to yell on each special?

Furthermore, in places like DWB where talking in spatial/shout/yell etc. is crutial not to do (atleast the last time I was there, or so I was told then), will it cause the same reaction to spatial chat in the past?

Anyways, I wanted to also mention that the FAQs listed here in this forums and the countless posts I've found on search have been an emmense help to me in "learning the ropes". So, thanks for that

Some help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the information and taking the time to answer my questions.

It really is a shame we can't change the /yell messages, they just *really* don't fit my roleplay style, ahh well, guess my friends and groupmates will have to get used to me calling them "maggots" haha.

As for the DWB, that is good to know. I'll keep it in mind the next time I'm there, which will probably be after I hit CL80 again, hehe. I know of some friends who are all wanting to go, but waiting on me to finish grinding the rest of SL to have maximum benefits.. Hmm, should I feel used? ::laughs::

Anyway, thanks again

You can't switch them off. Changing them is possible.

Check out:

Follow each of them by some text (no more than 64 characters) and you are good to go.

Could you set the text to be just a space? Or maybe just a period? Or maybe even an /echo text?

Jedi will never be a starting profession...Looted items and quest items will never be better then crafted items, this is not a loot based game...CH will return shortly...CH and BE will not be back in game...Rangers are getting their revamp next!...The stealth system will not be changing in the spy expertise...Need any more examples of things the devs said that did not hold true?

I was planning on trying that tonight. If not possible, then I will be requesting a "silent mode" option on behalf of the community.

I don't believe you can do just an open space. I have one of my commands set as just "!" though.

Yea, you can make something generic, I remember seeing a dash or a box for some people's SL shouts before. But, people still identify you as the SL from it right away anyway, so you might as well have some fun with the shouts.

\#FFFFFF\.

Chat window is white, "." will be white. About as close to a space as you'll get.

Ya I was asking that to the other day, would like to have it blank but I'l probably go with the '.'. The main reason I want it blank is because people complain about it, not being an fps game people rely on the chat's to keep up on things.

Thanks everyone who's replied here about the /yell's. I have tried all different combinations to get it to clear even the \#FFFFFF \#FFFFFF (or was that \#000000?) but ultimately, I've just replaced all of them with something more to what I would say.

I really do wish there were a way to turn them off, while they are funny (or Rpish) the first time, after awhile it does indeed get old.

Anyway thanks everyone for the help on this. ::smiles::

/agree

Not only that it gets old, i lately already was asked by several people, with which i up to now cooperated well, if i could please stop using those spam-specials. The people even considered doing an /ignore on me untill i told them that then i'd also be gone from all chatlines and the guildline.

Would there be a spatial-only ignore, i really wouldn't mind them using it... heck, i even would consider using it on myself, i am already annoyed by myself spamming spatial like nuts.

My "solution" on the problem was that i used Paint Target and Called Shot only in very dire situations but i dare to say, this is not what the profession should look like.

Yeah, I've managed to beat off the frustration of it by changing the spam often. If I get a little break in the fighting, might do something like "/setcalledshot Bring him down!". Just mixing it up a little helps some.

While the spam speicals are a bit annoying, someone telling you to stop using the skills because of a bit of spatial spam needs to find another game. Spatial spam is part of any MMO I've ever seen.
