Hi fellow i just started CH lately two and i have a few words of advise. Go to rori and look for something called the Charred Kreveel (SP) this thing is the baby tank of all time man. It has 40% specail protection agianst Heat and Restiant and 20% on kinetic, energy, and cold and others i cant recall, and light armor. So i just got a bunch of missions today and let the thing take care of um and it has a decent acid range attack all i can say is it still a baby about 4 days since i got him and he is killing rill, worrts, eopie, with just a little help from me when he got swamped.
There cool so go check um out

Don't think he can control a GSP until he is 1/1/0/0 right now.

More importantly, the max CL for a novice will drop from 15 to 12 in the next patch. All the creatures are being rebalanced, too.

So there is no reason to worry about the best creature right now - just tame babies and build up exp and wait to see what the patch brings.

According to this site (http://forums.ordo.cc/swgbeasts.cgi), it looks like the female grasslands slice hound or the pouncing jax might be the creatures of choice for the post-patch novice.

To control a cowardly gurreck post -patch, you will need 3 level 1 boxes filled, and to control a GSP, 3 level 2 boxes and 1 level 1 filled.

Yeah this is a concern of mine....I have been a novice ch for about 2 weeks and just recently went to 1-1-0-0 just so I can tame and control my grand wrix which is one of the better low levelpets (his resist are something like 100% heat, 70% electricity, 25% everything else....vulnerable to acid and cold.....has 6500 HAM, Level 22, 210-220 damage, ferocity level 8 and does intimidation and Knockdown attacks). He also regenerates all of his HAM right before he attackstoo (saves on stims).......this doesn't happen everytime though.

Now with the updates to CH, I'm hoping that I won't have to lose him and drop ch as I won't have enough skill points to keep ch if the pets aren't worth a **edit** at low levels.

As a novice though, I had a rock beetle (I still have him) and a Male roba (this little fella could battle with the best of them, had him for a long time but had to make room for my wrix plus his HAM wasn't that great without light armor....2200)

with this new patch, I know we will be seeing a lot less Ch's running around.....but then a lot of mobs will be changed too, so we might not need high level pets all the time.

How does one find out the Creature Level of a particular mob?

Hey Lakers fan,

Here's my two cents worth. I'm also a low level CH and so far what i've been doing is just taming every baby i come accrosed. When your low level, that seems like the best way to get CH xp without getting killed. If you consider that you get 100 xp for each tame plus 100 xp (approximate) for each command you teach it. Right now I'm at 1/1/1/1 and could easily tame a Mountain Dewback(tatooine), wich once fully grown can serve as a mount and a very good low level tank. That way you still have 3 pets that you can tame and/or rotate to gain xp.(that dew also makes me wonder about different creatures loyalt to there master, oftenif i get incap the pet will just stand there, butlast time i got incap with that dew baby out, he went on a rampage lol)

Also you might consider going to Endor and getting a couple Cowardly Gurrecks. Yes they are non-ch pets. But, if you can get a Master CH to finish the training while they are still level 1 ( otherwise your pet needs the transfer command) then you can sell them to non-ch for a good profit. So, you get a double bonus of taming and teaching xp plus some cash on the side.

*note: I'm not absolutely positive about them having to be level one to trade to another ch for training, anyone that knows otherwise please feal free to set the record straight ( haven't got a chance to try it yet)

Another quick thought, as your building your ch skills, keep an eye out for Bio-Engineered pets. Recently I was lucky enough to pick up a Bluurg with 11k HAM and 500 dmg for only 1k! I can't use/tame him now but for a pet like that he'll stand guard duty in my house till i can Beats the heck out of paying another CH 45,000 for it later.

BE's will be your new best friend post patch. All BE stuff reportedly working on Test Center. Including Kimo's. As for CH xp, my MCH buddy spent a lot of time in the force caves on dant. So many people camping them for holo's that he could send in a weak pet, and get lots of CH XP when it dropped. Just a suggestion, dunno how camped that place is anymore.

GunnyErmey: Hate to tell you this, but BE Blurrgs are broken, noone can tame them :/ This will(should) be different after the patch, but I believe any broken pets already created will still be broken.

Hi all,

I'm a ranger and just picked up creature handler to try it out. I've been reading some posts and so understand that ch isn't as powerful as a combat profession but I want to try it since I usually only hunt smallish game (up to lvl35 creatures) without buffs anyway. I was wondering though...are tame creatures the equivelent of wild ones? Eg if I manage to tame a rancor will it be an even match for a wild rancor?

Without more or less continuous healing and you doing additional damage almost no wild-tamed pet could compete with their wild cousins.

I'm Master Ranger, Master CH and 0/0/0/3 Carbineer. With this template there are no wild pets worth taming other than just for the challenge of taming them. I can't deal enough damage for them to tank through the fight and any template that could deal enough damage wouldn't need the pet to tank. I have a BE gurreck, 12k HAM ,Light Armor, 49% Kinetic, 48% energy, 94% heat and cold which serves me very well. He's still no good for PvP because of his vulnerabilities but he's the best PvE pet I've ever seen.

There are higher kinetic ratings but you sacrifice the other stats and as he is, he can tank NPC missions as well as he can tank Creature missions.

In all, I'd say get a BE pet to do the heavy lifting for you. Wild caught pets are more fun and taming is a great adventure but for combat stats you'll never find one as good as a BE can make them.

Give me a shadowed forest into which I might disappear.
Give me a terrible foe and stack the odds against me.
Give me friends and creatures with whom I can share my adventures, my losses and my gains.
Let the gales blow and the world be torn asunder but don't make me stand alone against the tempest.

Im ch 2 1 1 1 now and i want to know what pets i can tame and what skills i should get first. I was thinking of getting the taming line first because someone told my could get some really tough pets then..

Just so you all know, im not trying to grind this profsession just so i have done it.... for some reason i dont really understand i really love some of my pets. (like my lev 12 vir vur and a lev 22 razor cat)

one thing i want when i get master tho is a lev 60-70 vir vur, i would love to have a really awsome vir vur

hope someone can help me and tell me what pets i can get on the diferent levels and what pets are good.

dont really like those big pets like kimos and rancors tho, think they are way to big alltough a kimo looks bloody awsome
