I could be wrong but I think this is what is going on...

You guys are lower level CH. You ahve to look at the mobs around the baby to see what level THEY are because that is the level your BABY will be.

Probably what is happening is that the baby might be a level 2 or 5 but their parents might be a level 63. If this is the case the baby is really a level 63 and well beyond your level.

Sorry I see that the guy who posted said he was MCH. Was the mobs around the baby 71+ by chance? that could be the problem, or maybe it is a bug. I have been out taming for days and never ran into the bug. Well I keep a get away vehicle close by and if i get aggroed I run away until I loose ago. Then I come back and keep trying. It took me an hour to tame a level 66 geckle bat the other day. I probably tried about 20 times before I finally succeeded.

It is a bug, and a bad one. It appears to havecropped upwith patch 17.

Both myself and another MCH were hunting night before last. Came upon a mature reptilian flier baby (level 6 as baby, level 68/9 as adult). First three tame attempts failed, on the 4th, the baby and the parents aggroed me. After getting out of combat, I tried again and got the "you can't tame that" message. Aftergetting the message several times, I asked my friend to try. He failed 2 attempts before the same thing happened and he was unable to try again. The baby stayed yellow when the "you can't tame that" message happened. And just for the record, I have been MCH for well over a year.

Neither of us were able to tame anything else until after we'd logged off and came back the next day.

A side note, you can now continue to try and tame if other creatures attack you--including parents I believe. This bug only seems to happen if the baby itself goes aggro.

lol this happened to me a week ago. I was taming a mantigrue reaper (thats how it is spelled in the game, I always thought it was mantrigue) and it aggro'd someone in my group. I tamed it in one try and the name turned white, I got the control device message, but it still kept following my group mate around for about 5 minutes. Couldnt store it or do anything. Finally it stopped and stored normally and works normally now.

Actually. . . all you need to do is examine the creature and look at its difficulty level. If the level is within your max taming range you can tame. The only exception is aggro creatures if you don't have the ability yet.

I say this because if you are doing a lair mission, the creatures (except for the babies) are sometimes higher than their standard Difficulty. Maybe you are cleaning out a lair of level 30 creatures but the baby that spawns has a difficulty of 16 because that is their default.

This bug is totally random.

Taming and Releasing for about 2 hours.

Suddenly, same babies I was taming all night can't be tamed.

I wasn't attacked or aggro'd by a baby or anything for that matter before it happened.

Logged out and back in, nadda. Same message.

Went to different nest and found another baby of exact same type and level. TAMED with no problem.

Went back to the un-tamable nest to try the babies again. STILL "cannot tame that."

No idea, but keep reporting this bug and maybe Sony will stop slacking.

Between that taming bug, pets not attacking or being able to be stored at random times, and CH XP not showing at random times after fights...this class is borked.

This is a HORRIBLE bug. I'm a Master Creature Handler. Went to Yavin 4 to tame some baby crystal snakes....could initiate taming but failed twice. On the third attempt, I get "You can't tame that" and now every baby I try to tame.....I get "You can't tame that". Yes, I'm a MCH, yes the babies are tamable, yes their max level is below 70....come on!

I'm a MCH and I had the "you cant tame that" bug hit me trying to tame a CL10 carrion spat on Corellia the other day. I haven't been able to reliably reproduce it. But during the same session, I could walk 20 meters and tame something else. I just couldn't tame anything from that nest of spat.

My CH toon has had problems since the CU. I had to use the respec to get out of the novice box for starters because I was capping at 20k instead of the 200k it should.

I had that bug hit me on Endor couple weeks ago. Now last night, I was on Danth and was taming a vicious "something" mite, adult level 69. Off topic, not much better then the Endor Boor Wolfs.

I have +50 on taming Wild and Vicious amimals in clothing, and am a MCH. I failed twice, baby aggro, I jumped on speeder and ran away, aggro stopped, I went back, failed twice more, baby aggroed, once again ran away. The 6th time was the charm and tamed.

Don't know if bug was fixed, seems to happen most often on Endor and Yavin, so don't know if being on Danth mattered, or if the hot fix actually fixed this.

I have seen this bug a lot lately, especially on Endor it seems.
